Mega City Heroes II Discussion

Postby thecamoninja » Sat Mar 07, 2009 6:04 pm UTC

Hello, welcome to the Mega-City heroes II discussion thread. Here are the basic rules-
Charactor creation:
Spoiler:
when creating you are making your character, do so in the following format:

Name: It can be any name, and does not necessarily have to be yours.
Powers: See the 'Powers' spoiler. Also, describe their limitations and what they can do.
Bio: about your character
Items: what they have brought with them.

Powers:
Spoiler:
We have organized powers into 3 types: O, N, and D, or Offensive, neutral, and Defensive. You are allowed to choose, 2, but not of the same type (so only OD, ON, and DN). Also, 3 people per power

See attachment for power list

if you have a power not listed, pm me, and I'll list it with a type.

*Power changes, not on file:*
Golem Creation is offensive

NPCs:
Spoiler:
The mods of this game will be responsible for creation of NPCs, though we are open to suggestion. We will, however, let everyone control NPCs, so long as it doesn't get... random. Finally, ask permission form one of us if you want to kill an NPC.

If you're a new player who was confused by the first post in the game thread, here's what's going on:
The year is 2050 (apparently) and the world is in a period of calm. Many scientific advances have been made in recent years, and among the more prominent of these is the attempt to populate the southern continent of Antarctica. A large semi-underground complex was built there, powered partially by wind energy, and partially by hydroelectricity. All the people on the plane were being flown to this base in a first experimental attempt to populate it. A huge blizzard starts, however, as the plane flies over the continent, and it crashes, relatively close to the complex. Many of the people on the plane were killed, and those who survived will be the players and the NPCs. When they reach the base, they will find that all communication with the outside world has ceased, and they are alone there, stranded. There is little likely hood of a rescue team or search party making it to them well the blizzard is still raging. There are, luckily, rations in the base already,as well as beds and basic accommodations, but apart from that, nothing.

This is all the plot that we mods came up with. The rest is in your hands

Important notes:
*Please post your character description here as well, not in the game topic.

*You cannot start out having any weapons with you, at all. This is because players reached the Antarctic base where they are by plane, and, as you should know, weapons are not generally allowed on planes. There is one exception to this rule, and that is Dashiva's character. He is allowed a gun because he included in his bio that he is a body guard specifically hired to keep the peace in the complex, however he is the only exception to this rule. We don't need any more than one body guard. If you really want a weapon, and think you have a good enough excuse for having one, PM a mod (me, vieto, Dashiva) and we may consider it.

Now, to avoid confusion, here is a list of all characters:
Spoiler:
Cristophoros
Name: Jernos Norfel
Powers:
Super-speed (N) - Jernos can travel at almost the speed of sound. To him, it appears that the rest of the world is slowing down, and he is moving at normal speed. This has limits when applied to technology - for example a gun takes a certain amount of time to chamber the next round no matter how fast you can pull the trigger.
Electricity Manipulation (O) - Jernos can control the flow of electricity. He stores electrical energy inside his body, which he can then draw upon. He can throw lighting from his hands, either as a continual flow or as single balls. If thrown as single balls, the electricity denies the laws of physics and travels at a speed visible to the naked eye. He doesn't know why this happens, it might just be because it looks cooler that way.
His energy recharges slowly by converting the sun's rays, but he can also recharge by drawing energy from another source, such as power cables or plug sockets. He doesn't have to be in actual physical contact to do this - the electricity jumps to his hands similarly to when he throws it.
Bio: Jernos was a doctor at Bath hospital in England, and was sent to Antarctica to treat the human overseers at the "Hospitality" base. He is dressed in a white lab coat, with a smart/casual shirt on underneath. He is looking forward to spending some time in Antarctica.
Items: laptop, cellphone, some food, some medical supplies.

Vieto
Name: Ivanovic Petrovski
Powers:
Gravity Manipulation (O) - The abiltiy to create artificial gravity fields at any arbitrary point or field, at any strength. Can be used up to a range of 100m. fields can be directional, but are limited in size to a few square meters. Controlled black holes are possible, but will quickly dissipate, as well as wormholes (that lasts only a few seconds)
Electro-magnetism manipulation (D) - The ability to manipulate electricity and magnetism. Can generate arbitrary points where a controlled magnetic field can attract objects. The magnetic lines can also be controlled to attract only specific items. Only affects iron, cobalt, and nickle (and resulting products). This power can also allow for small area bursts of an EMP. Electron flow control is also possible, but is not powerful enough to generate arcs of electricity. Finally, this allows for manipulation of the polarity of polar molecules, such as water, to attract or repulse other polar molecules (allowing for levitation on water, as people are mostly water, and are thus, capable of being polarized). This, however, takes concentration, and has a radius of 3 meters.
Bio: Ivanovic was an engineer in Canada, and was sent to Antarctica to help do some work at the Antarctica Base "Hospitality" for the construction of the bio dome. He is one of the only people capable of controlling the robots, who can do the work by themselves, but some problems at 'Hospitality' have required Ivanovic to go down there to control them from the base. He is intelligent, and inventive.
Items: Parka, high-powered laptop, backpack with blueprints, and tools. Also, several physics books, a compass, maps, and a gps.

Ralith The Third
Name: Rustin Wollins (Pronounced wall-een)
Powers:
Monster Transformation (O) - Rustin is capable of transforming, using his own, stored energy, into almost any monster he can imagine. However, he must not only have the energy to transform into such a form, he must also have the energy to do anything he chooses to do in said form. Also, if a form IS able to use a different power, it comes at an INCREDIBLE energy cost, even for the simplest of things. Swapping from a monster larger than him (as a human) back into human form does not gain or cost him energy, but he can gain a small amount of energy by shrinking. The latter of these cannot be abused to gain infinite energy.
Force Fields (D) - Rustin also has a minor ability to create force fields, repelling anything that attempts to enter them. However, he is not very good with these, and they take energy to maintain. They are limited to a short range, but under stress, they can be used at greater ranges. They can take on any shape, but are limited in size by energy consumption. They can also be molded to simply SLOW things, at a lesser energy cost but a need for greater concentration.
Bio: A relatively young man, he looks around 25. He is slightly overweight, and decided to sign up for the Antarctica ,"Hospitality" base project because of the opportunity.
Items: Laptop with several games of different genres, winter clothing, and a case of mountain dew.

thecamoninja
Name: Bernardo Cavalcante
Powers:
Illusions (D) - The user of this power can create realistic 3-D images of things which aren't really there, within a close range of his body. As the power advances, the user will be able to create larger and more illusions further away from him. These illusions can be applied to everyone, so they are seen by every person nearby, or to only one specific person, so only they can see it, though this only works to a certain extent, and requires more energy.
Ventriloquism (N) - The user of this power can create realistic voices and noises in different places, so that it does not sound as though he is emitting the noises, and he can do so without moving his lips. As the power progresses, the user will be able to produce a wider variety of voices and sounds, further away , and louder.
Bio: Bernardo is a native of Brazil, though he has lighter skin than most Brazilians. His native language is Portuguese, though he is quite fluent in English, and can speak it with almost no accent. He is 22, and has just graduated from college, with a major in acting. He is going to the Antarctic base simply as a civilian partaking in an experiment.
Items: A messenger bag , a copy of The Complete Works Of Shakespeare, an mp3 player with earbuds, , a hoodie, and a thick leather jacket.

Thenzon
Name: Kett Dama
Powers:
Energy Blast (O) - Can create and fire small to large balls/beams of energy out of his hands, eyes, and mouth.
Flight (D) - Can hover and move at slow to fast speeds in mid-air.
Bio: Kett was raised in the middle of a large city, with lots of tall buildings and towers surrounding the apartment he lived in. He has never driven a car, or used any form of public transport, not even a plane, preferring to wonder around the streets, always dreaming he could fly like a bird. He loved the cold weather, so took the opportunity to live in Antarctica as a welcome one.

Mach1ine
Name: James Carter
Powers:
Super Strength (N) - Can pick up large objects, break things, just overall incredible strength. Increases in times of dire need and danger.
Shock Pad like skin (D) - His skin is not impenetrable but is much tougher than the average human. It acts like an extremely efficient shock absorber and many things that would seem painful to normal people (getting hit by a bat, hammer, etc.) are no where near as harmful. (Obviously there are limits...a car hitting him at full speed would be quite painful and potentially dangerous, although not necessarily fatal).
Bio: James is from Florida. Normal kid, normal life. One day, at the age of 13, he was in the car with both his parents on their way to the grocery store. An incoming car smashed into them, killing his parents instantly. James was in the ICU for days and eventually recovered. He was put in a foster home, but it was a pretty shitty place. After 7 years there, James had no choice but to toughen up. At the age of 18 he went to school for physical therapy and medicine, but didn't enjoy it that much and dropped out. After a few tight weeks of barely any money, James decided to join the experiment on Antarctica as a civilian. He had nothing more to stay for in Florida, and decided that getting away, far away, would be a nice change.
Items: cellphone, hoodie, leather gloves, big snow jacket.

Maseiken
Name: Silas Tyler
Powers:
Friction Manipulation (N) - Applying only to Silas' body, this power can go to extreme lengths, from negating the impact of a strike by simply having it slip away to climbing walls or facillitating body throws with extreme friction, almost to the point of adhesion. It can be altered at will, but losing focus will cause it to return to normal.(N)
Tail (N) - A long, Monkey-like tail, that is equally affected by Friction manipulation as the rest of the body.
Bio: Silas is a journalist, sent to cover the city's opening and, eventually, help found it's own news services. He was the least senior of all the journalists sent, but was hoping for this to be his "Big break".
Items: Digital SLR camera(+Several SD cards), Laptop, Waistcoat, Fob Watch, Brown Trench coat, iPod+Headphones.

Brooklynxman
Name: Gerard
Powers: Super Intelligent(N): Capable of quickly learning how to use complex objects (ex. a warships control systems, though that probably won't come up). Capable of quick and efficient analysis, narrowing down both allied and enemy potential courses of actions to very few, amongst them almost always the one taken (provided enough information). Can learn virtually any skill, profession (from how to do something physically, although needs to have a body capable of first, to a profession), but needs someone to teach him. So for now cannot invent/build stuff. Limits: Cannot pinpoint exactly what an enemy will do unless given a vast amount of information, needs information to extrapolate from.
Pyrokinesis(O): Think firebending in Avatar. Roughly equivalent. Eventually once fully mastered can be used like a rocket for short bursts like in the show (20-30 feet), only once fully mastered. Nothing like the human torch. Also cannot electric bend like they did in the show.
Bio: CS major from New York. Halfway through, he had a falling out with his parents. Promised a good job in Antartica, because he was already better then the grad students at programming, he left pretty much everything to go to Antartica.

Items: lighter (won't be needing that anymore soon), Digital Camera, 2 SD cards (I had a video camera, but the crash took it), laser pointer, $2,000 (all I have to my name).

NPC
Name: Sullivan Cheslenburg
Powers:
Super dexterity (N) - The user of this power is very fast and dexterous
Super senses (D) - The user of this power has enhanced sensing abilities in all respects, so he can see further, hear softer noises, detect scents from farther away, feel things more finely, and he is a super taster
Bio: Sullivan is a young pilot, though very skilled. He was flying the plane when the blizzard struck, but was unable to keep from crashing.
Items: none, you don’t exactly carry much on you while flying a plane through the Antarctic.

NPC
Name: Kyle Brandley
Powers:
Phasing (N)- His body can vibrate so fast that it can avoid the molecules of a wall, so he can go right through it. He can also be selectively permable, as to avoid going through the floor (which would suck). This has the side affect of allowing him to go 'up' through solid objects. He can also bring others with him when he is 'phasing', causing them to vibrate with him.
Shockwave manipulation (O)- being able to vibrate quickly also allows him to send 'waves' through the air. This can be a giant shockwave that can cause an earthquake and a loud noise, but it can also be more focused, up to a straight shockwave from a fingertip, to vibrating quickly, making a buzzing noise. And no, he does not have to shout 'bang'.
Bio:
Kyle was born into a poor family. As a teen his parents decided to go to Antarctica, and resultantly dies in the crash, though he survived. He is smart enough to notice things.
Items:
cloths, a hoodie (wearing), a parka, a hand-held game system with some games, a laptop.

And finally, here is the list of powers:

Jernos Norfel
Powers
Super-speed:(N)
Jernos can travel at just over twice the speed of sound. To him, it appears that the rest of the world is slowing down, and he is moving at normal speed. This has limits when applied to technology - for example a gun takes a certain amount of time to chamber the next round no matter how fast you can pull the trigger.
When this power develops further, he will be able to apply it to some objects he is in contact with, such as cars, bikes and computers. This will not happen for a while though.

Bio:
Jernos was a doctor at Bath hospital in England, and was sent to Antarctica to treat the human overseers at the "Hospitality" base. He is dressed in a white lab coat, with a smart/casual shirt on underneath. He is looking forward to spending some time in Antarctica.
Items:
laptop, cellphone, some food, some medical supplies.

Intro:
In detail later, but he was on the same plane as Ivanovich, so pretty much the same thing happened. Ivanovich will find him OC in the wreckage of the plane.

Inventory: Laptop with several games of different genres, .22 pistol and ammo, backpack, winter clothing, and a case of mountain dew.

Second Edit: His carryons are found while searching the wreckage (?)

Name: Vox

Powers:
(O/N)-> Super Strength. Can pick up large objects, break things, just overall incredible strength. Increases in times of dire need and danger.

(D)-> Shock Pad like skin. His skin is not impenetrable but is much tougher than the average human.

Bio:
Vox noticed his unusual strength around the age of 12 (although it was not too incredible at this age) and soon his strength grew larger as he grew older. Around 17, his mother was brutally murdered by his own father who then took his own life. Distraught from this, he took to the streets, leaving everyone and everything behind. He began street fighting under the name Vox and took down all of his opponents with ease. He saw his fighting as a way to make money, slight enjoyment, but more importantly to pound the faces of the nasty men that reminded him of his father. He kept to himself mostly but soon had a long list of enemies. Due to this he was framed for a triple murder but he managed to escape arrest. He found out about a flight leaving to Antarctica, and figured it would be a good far place to start over new.

Items: cellphone, brass knuckles

Note: He is not the "hero" type character per say. I would say more of a in between, neutral, no sides kind of guy.

If theres any problems with my choice of character, please let me know.

I hope you guys can see where I'm going with this power combo

Edit- You might want to redo that bio, Mach1ne. This is a high-profile scientific experiment, thy don't let some random fighter from off the streets into this kind of thing. If you don't want to change it, at least get rid of the brass knuckles. You're on an airplane for god's sakes! You can't have weapons on an airplane.

I assume the speed limit on flight would be roughly equal to how fast he can run normally, otherwise you've also taken a speed power.

I can see where you are going with that, but that all depends on what comes with "flight." But I kind of like your way of thinking about it.

Okay, guys, I just want to point out that none of you had your powers before you get to Antarctica. So thenzon, you can't be flying around the city at 18. Maseiken, your tail would probably start developing as soon as you got to Antarctica, and would grow quickly from there.

heh, I kinda preferred the idea of it just popping out...

Incidentally, we probably should end this Blizzard, since very few of us are dressed appropriately and we need to get to the dome.

Oh that changes things...If i knew that I would have done the bio differently...like I will now :).

Name: James Carter

Powers:
(O/N)-> Super Strength. Can pick up large objects, break things, just overall incredible strength. Increases in times of dire need and danger.

(D)-> Shock Pad like skin. His skin is not impenetrable but is much tougher than the average human.

Bio:
James is from Florida.

Note: He is not the "hero" type character per say. I would say more of a in between, neutral, no sides kind of guy. Sorry for the repost, wanted to change things due to this new info by camo

Nono, the blizzard is what's keeping the stranded there, and what's keeping anyone from reaching them in a rescue attempt.

NPC time!

Name: Sullivan Cheslenburg
Powers: Super dexterity (N) - The user of this power is very fast and dexterous
Super senses (D) - The user of this power has enhanced sensing abilities in all respects, so he can see further, hear softer noises, detect scents from farther away, feel things more finely, and he is a super taster
Bio: Sullivan is a young pilot, though very skilled. He was flying the plane when the blizzard struck, but was unable to keep from crashing.
Items: none, you don’t exactly carry much on you while flying a plane through the Antarctic.
I wonder if anyone will get the reference in the name...

Another NPC.

I would thinks so. Though i must say, all that vibrating would surely be a calorie burner.

edit: I edited phasing to include being able to phase others with him. I hadn't even thought of that, thanks for the reminder.

Items: Switch blade, lighter (won't be needing that anymore soon), Digital Camera, 2 SD cards (I had a video camera, but the crash took it), laser pointer, $2,000 (all I have to my name).
We figure out what all this means, then do something large and violent

Are we limited to the approved list? I had an idea of a different power but was away from internet and unable to submit if for approval, so here it is:

Golem Creation
Power to create semblances of life from inanimate objects.
Limited in amount of material that can be moved at once, i.e. about five human sized golems worth of stuff at any one time.
Limited amount of "intelligence" to be shared by the golems. i.e. only one golem would be as smart as an average person (maybe subtly different intelligence), but two would be like 12 year olds, four would be like 4-5 year olds, 10 would essentially basic robots. However, golems can be created without their own intelligence are simply remote controlled things.
Each golem is created around a word, for example a golem created around the word "protect" would be much better and protecting people than attacking.
Golems can't heal but can be repaired by character.
Note: golems don't have to be humanoid.
Note: the golems with intelligence are semi-independent so a Frankenstein monster plot is available.
Note: golems are as autonomous as their intelligence allows. Character knows what's happening to them (i.e. burning, how far away) but can't actually see/hear etc. what they do.

I'll be back later to see the mods' ruling and catch up on the story so far.

EDIT: Have PM'd suggestion.

EDIT2: Did the plane break in two? No matter I'll join/find Ralith/rustin when I begin.
And can we have people start their posts with Character or Character (powers)? I know it'll keep me from being confused, at least.

okay, guys, I want to make this really clear, because I get it if you don't want to read through this entire topic
You cannot start out with any weapons in your inventory
This is just because you're on a plane, and they generally don'y allow that kind of think. Besides, switchblades are illegal, regardless.

I have no idea why everyone is finding hatches. How about we just change this to a front door. Hatches aren't very efficent.

All I know is that I went down a hatch through a shaft into a tunnel, and now everyone else is also. It's really confusing.

that's not good. The idea was that everyone was close enough to the biodome or some other part of the complex that they could easily walk there. I was trying to get across that the hatch/shaft was relatively far away from the plane, and the Bernardo had been flung out far away from the main body of the crash. besides, the hatch is hidden under the snow, it's not the kind of thing you 'see' so much as find accidentally, which is what Bernardo did when he flung out his arm

Sorry, didn't see your post. It's almost certainly the same hatch, we just haven't noticed you yet.

ok, list of people who have found hatches (with a solution to resolve everyone going in the same hatch)

- Bernardo - found hatch
- Kett and Silas - blasted hatch
- Chris -dug hatch
- Ivan and Jernos - not my idea, let me tell you.
- Kyle - editing to have him meet up with bernardo

So, any volenteers to change their post to remove the random appearance of new hatches?

If no one else will volenteer, I'll convince Christopherus to have us change where we enter the building.

I'm fine with that - I can do some editing. I was just told that there was a tunnel toward the dome, which I assumed would have some sort of entrance.
Or, they're all different hatches. I think they've been described differently.

ok, link me to where you have done editing, and I'll respond in kind.

Also, I'm thinking of making 1 more NPC, who is already on staff at the base. Any suggestions for powers?
