If you use a replacement effect there, you're replacing the act of leaving the battlefield with being put onto the battlefield. Theoretically that works fine, but it doesn't do what you want; more than likely, the creature still has lethal damage on it and will be destroyed the next time state-based actions are checked (pretty much immediately). Wording it as a triggered ability lets the creature actually change zones.

Legendary Creature - Vedalken Wizard
At the beginning of your upkeep and your end step, look at the top 3 cards of your library, or the top 2 cards of an opponent's library. You may choose to exile any number of them face down, then put the remaining cards back in any order.
Each opponent plays with his or her hand face-up.
You may look at the top card of any players library, any face-down exiled cards, and any face-down cards on the battlefield. (At any time)

oh, thoughts on the Holy Banshee
I think the wording should have been:
When Holy Banshee comes into play, prevent the next three damage that would be dealt to any number of target creatures you control, and target player loses 3 life.
And with an ability like that, it should probably cost a bit more (and an... invoke, is it? should be included, becuase that ability would be nice as a stand alone).

Evoke is "use this creature's effect by itself", and Convoke is for "choose one" cards, letting you pay extra to choose more than one. It could be balanced out by making it "either-or" then giving it evoke AND convoke, but that just seems... tacky.

Plate Tectonics 3RR

Infernal Poem - RUUBB
Legendary Enchntment
When Infernal Poem enters the battlefield, for each creature in play, it's controller puts a token into play that is a copy of it. Then, exile all nontoken creatures.
When Infernal Poem leaves the battlefield, exile all tokens created by Infernal Poem, and return all creatures exiled by Infernal Poem to the battlefield.
"Dancing in the darkness, the shadows fled;
Dancing in the moonlight, the shadows feared;
Dancing in the sunlight, the shadows bled;
Dancing in the inferno, the shadows were seared;
They had never known;
The pain of life, alone;
Quietly, in their shame, they returned."
-Feldstar, wandering prophet

Note: This is how I would like rules to work: If you have a legendary creature, the token is created (they are not both destroyed yet) then the original is exiled. As long as the original is not a token, then the newly created token will not be destroyed.

Skyshroud Tactics (last I checked skyshroud was a forest in rath, so green is more appropriate than W, U)
Tribal Instant - Elf
Chose a creature type. Creatures you control gain +X/+X until the end of the turn, where X is the number of cards that share that creature type in all graveyards.
Against overwhelming odds, the skyshroud elves lived to honor their fallen.

Next Card: Hearth Elemental
Look, you know it's serious when a bunch of people in full armor and gear come charging in to fight a pond of chickens - Steax
