Pointless questions with no answers.

Postby __Kit » Mon May 14, 2007 12:49 am UTC

This thread is for all 'those questions', I'll start.

Why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds?
Why are wrong numbers always there when you call?
Why is something sent by car a shipment and something sent by ship is cargo?
Do you need a silencer if you were to shoot a mime?
Where's Waldo? (is waldo a mime?)
If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody but a mime is around to hear it, and it lands on the mimes head, does anybody care?
Why my obsession with mimes?

Why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds?
-It has more to do with Latin roots rather than logic.
Why are wrong numbers always there when you call?
-Because if no one is there you have no way of knowing who would have answered, so you assume it's the person intended.
Why is something sent by car a shipment and something sent by ship is cargo?
-The words can be used interchangeably, both mean goods carried by a large vehicle, be it land, sea, air, or space.
Do you need a silencer if you were to shoot a mime?
-Depends on whether or not you want people to hear it. The mime wouldn't hear much of a gunshot anyway before death. Silencers silence gunshots, not targets. But this is a side effect with living objects.
Where's Waldo? (is waldo a mime?)
-In the "H" section of the children's book area, for Hartford, the author. This is provided the book is not banned there, as it sometimes is. Also, he is simply stylish because he does in fact communicate by words in each book.
If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody but a mime is around to hear it, and it lands on the mimes head, does anybody care?
-This is a rather unlikely circumstance, and would most likely occur if someone had the intent to kill said mime. He would therefore most likely be an unsavory person, so chances are no, no one would care.
Why my obsession with mimes?
-Because you are silly and crave attention.

If Carmen Sandiego and Waldo were to get married, would anyone be able to find their wedding?

Why do we park on driveways and drive on parkways?

Only every few shows, when the last person manages to place swirling light beacons on enough right countries.

Why do we park on driveways and drive on parkways?

Because the God of English loves irony.

What IS the sound of one hand clapping?

It sounds like a softer, whimpy version of two hand clapping, at least when I do it.

WHY DID DRE NOT LIVE UP TO HIS PROMISE WITH YAU-MAN?

I have no clue.

Doesn't anyone care whether Jimmy cracks corn?

Yes, but everyone who does lives in South Africa.

0/2 is definitely defined. 0/2=0.

"Half of nothing" I guess you could debate because English words always have various different meanings... but I'd say half of nothing is nothing, because if you have piles of nothing, you still have nothing.

The land upon which a parkway is built is usually designated as a state park. And how do you get your car on to your driveway? If it's small, you can just call it a parking pad. That's what mine is.
