Skylands: Heretic Wars

Skylands: Heretic Wars is a tactics-based RPG based in the Victorian Skylands, between the Church of England and the New Anglian Confederation.

The story:

After the Church was founded in 1700, everyonme in the Skylands were converted and preached to. They learned about the Gods, and how they smile upon the faithful, how they keep the Skylands up.

After a holy scientist made the discovery of LEvi, the crystal that levitates the Skylands, the Church attempted to explain it as the Gods' gift. This incurred the Rebellion, of scientists ans soldiers who disbelieved the Church.

Current year is 1900.



Skylands:
The Skylands are a series of islands in the sky, ranging in size from small rocks to massive continents. They are held aloft by a gravity-resistant crystal called Levi, which is the most valuable mineral on Earth.

The Church:
The Church is the organized group of belivers, who belive the Gods will smile upon them should they accept their commandments. The Paladins of the Church have access to the Holy Magics.

New Anglian Confederation:
The NAC is the group of non-belivers that put their faith in science. While lacking magic, they also have more advanced technology than the Church and put it to good use.

The British Parliament
The Parliament is the government of Britain, and as such just tries to keep the peace. They control the major skylanes and the largest military force, but will not intervene in battles. They are solely for the protection of the British People.


The Classes
The Church:
Paladin
Paladins are the holy warriors of the Church. they will defend it with their lives and everything else at their disposal.
Equipped with a Holy Sword, Holy Rune, and Blessed Armor.

Assasin
Assassins are the Church's method of silencing it's enemies. Honorable, but very deadly.
Equipped with a Black Dagger, 3 vials of Poison, and a stealth cloak (rendering them invisible to most technologies).

Beliver
Belivers are the main force of the Church. Willing to die for their Gods, they will do everything they can to preserve it.
Equipped with a sword, armor, shield, and Belief (A holy magic increasing their willingness to fight).

New Anglian Confederation
Soldier:
A former military soldier, well-versed in the art of war. They are the main force of the NAC.
Equipped with a Steam Rifle, light armor, and Radio Backpack.

Scientist
The explorers and innovators of the NAC, they invent the new technologies for their friends and allies.
Eqipped with a Steam Pistol, technnology-sampling kit, and Radio Backpack.

Pilot
Pilots are the warriors of the skies, flying their fightercraft to take the fight to the enemy.
Eqipped with a fightercraft (can be changed to other types, starter is the CF-1 Dragonfly).

Other
Government Soldier
A peacekeeper for the government, generally a former beliver or soldier.
Equipped wth a Steam Pistol and Law Enforcement tools (i.e. handcuffs and Badge).

Pirate
Cruising the skylanes, these honorless warrior prey on cargo ships to plunder their precious supplies. Generally working out of small bases.
Equipped with a Cutlass, Steam Pistol, and AirShip of some form.


The Aircraft

CF-1 Dragonfly
Equipped with 2 Steam Guns and a single Air Torpedo.

CF-15 Mosquito
A fast attack fighter with light armor and 2 Steam Guns.

CB-11 Lancer
A medium bomber with 1 Steam Gun and a 20-bomb bay.



F-100 Dagger
A pirate fighter, swift and deadly with 4 Steam Guns.

F-101 SuperDagger
An upgraded F-100, with 4 Steam Guns and 2 Air Rockets.



GF-225 Dart
The Government fighter, small and fast. 2 Steam Guns.

GP-121 Aurora
Government patrol craft, slow and heavily armored. 2 Steam Guns and 1 Steam Turret (360 rotation).


Heavy Ships

Frigate: A light ship with low armor and weaponry, but faster than any other large vessel.

Cruiser: A mid-level ship with balanced everything.

Destroyer: A heavy, slow behemoth with the intent to destroy capital ships.

Carrier(Capital Ship): Low armor and weaponry, but carrier fighters and bombers.

Dreadnought (Capital Ship): A massive hulk designed to destroy any vessel it finds.

Titan (Super Capital Ship): A supermassive, mobile city, with enough weaponry and armor to destroy anything. Up to 2 km long, only 3 exist, all uner the command of the Government.


Weapons

Steam Gun: Rapid-fire gun firing light bullets.

Steam Turret: Rotating Steam Gun. Common weapon.

Air Rocket: A small exlosive with a rocket engine.

Air Torpedo: A large explosive warhead with a basic guidance system and low speed.

Heavy Turret: Anti-ship turret designed for use against Frigates and Cruisers.

Battle Turret: A destroyer weapon for use against Capital Ships.

SuperWeapon: Only found of Titans, this weapon can obliterate anything with it's concentrated blast of energy.

A patrol fleet of 4 Frigates, 2 Cruisers and a Dessy (Destroyer) is dispatched to the Southern Lands, to quell pirate activity.

All independent ship operators are invited to get letters of marque to prey on pirate vessels.

Note: "Flank Speed" is a method of overpowering the engines of a vessel to increase speed. Will burn out the engines if used for more than an hour at a time.

Genetic traces of Bronnwynn Smithson have been found in government database sites of the NAC. They are three days old, and the archives were accessed. She appears to have attempted to get information about the governmental and military heads of the NAC... and the schedules for the next week (those that have them.)

Did you mail the letter of marque or do the pilots need to go to recive them from someplace?

'Er We Go! changed course to follow the pirate skiffs, yelling was heard but speed remained at 31 knots.

The frigate loosed a volley of rounds, knocking out one of the skiffs. A pair of fighters launched and made a sprint for the skiffs.

The frigate swings to starboard and looses a full broadside, lacing a second skiff with fire.

The paired fighters make passes on the one remaining skiff.

Bronnwynn watches the vessels fight beneath, perched on the edge of a floating rock above. His stealth cloak is wrapped around him, and he observes with interest. Temptation to join the fight against the obviously New Anglian frigate is quelled by the coverage by the government ship - even with a stealth cloak, a fall onto the ship is risky both because of the chance of missing, the distance, and the chance of being noticed by the noise and movement. No, he'll watch and wait.

The fighters finish with the last skiff and return to the frigate, which adjusts course and rises, heading towards it's base.

A group of frigates and a cruiser are dispatched, their course off towards nowhere.

Disapointed with the lack of combat seen, Ratchet orders Klank to follow the government cruiser incase of another pirate sighting...

The frigate cruises back towards the main English navy base, Liverpool.

(Since no one else is, I'll play the N.A.C. for now)

A group of NAC ships is dispatched to take a look at a remote skyland and see if it's useable as a staging area.

Well Judgeing from the classes i would be NAC Scientist and Pilot and Their is also a Church Assassin, With the new pirate feller we got ourselves one person on each side. So it would be a good idea for their to be engagements planed or each respective person be promoted to General as well as having their minor person.

Strange Lights and fog are coming from 'Er We Go! and one of the engines is billowing black smoke it slows to a measly 1 knots, the ship is dead silent...

(Pirate man accepted. This will be interesting.

Remember, if anyone loses their ship, they can either buy a new one at a port or pay recovery companies to try and rebuild their wreck.)

'Er We Go! speeds up to 31 knots heading towards the southern lanes the green lights are gone but the black smoke is still billowing out of the engine.

'Er We Go! stops barely out of known weapon range fo the frigates and the pirates.

Black Smoke is no longer coming out of the ship...

A NAC Frigate is headed towards 'Er We Go! at 30 knots.

I steer my ship towards one of the frigates, so that my bow points in its direction. Then I start to frantically jump from one leg to the wooden other and to point towards my evil-looking pirate flag while loudly insulting the families of the frigate owners. I also let my mateys prepare the ship's cannons.

A pair of fighters drop from the frigate's launch bay and make a low pass over the pirate's decks.

The nearest frigate readies weapons as the second moves for a clear shot.

When my Havvy Turrad gun fires at the frigate that is readying it's weapons, I make a joyful face. "Arrrrr!", I exclaim. "Now release that Daggers 'n go for the swag before they're all sunken!"

Hope everyone had a happy new years, lets get this story going again!

The NAC frigate meets up with the 'Er We Go! and both sit outside of known weapon range of the pirate ship.

NAC prepares the launch of a Carrier Class CapitalShip While The NAC is not as powerful as the government, HQ wishes to have the ship ready to be launched within 1-2 weeks most ship bays are left vacant or undermaned for this operation codename "Орел атаки".

The frigates bring weapons to bear on the pirate vessel and cut loose, also directing their fighters towards the piratical Daggers.

"Орел атаки" has been completed and is a success Carrier Class Capital Ship MidGuard is Launched from its docking bay.

'Er We Go! Leaves the scence of fighting with the pirates and moves towards a supposed Church Supply Depot MidGuard is also seen heading towards this Depot.

All Docking Bays are Returned to normal security and and repair proceduers.

'Er We Go and MidGuard have engaged Church supply ships.

Estimated time of total victory for NAC is one week if Church ships are uncontrolled.

NAC frigate is still watching the pirate and goverment battle

Well the admin type guy hasnt posted for over a month now but if you submit your specs and person stuff im sure it wouldn't be too hard to put you on the side of the Church or pirates or something joining the NAC would be counter productive though, but Welcome! to this humble game we play.
