I cast my vote in favor of Odin's motion to get the chess game moving. (now 1 for, 0 against)

I have no idea what duels Snarky was in. 2 points to anyone who can write a complete list of all active duels, with participants, judge, and their current status.

(charged Patzer 4 points for investment)
(would have penalized Patzer 2 points for not updating the wiki, but he was at 0 already)
(-3 to Carey and +3 to Patzer due to Charity)
(awarded Fiery 8 points for passed motion)
(awarded 3 points each to Fiery, Carey, Spikey, matt96, Null)
(awarded Odin 8 points for passed motion)
(awarded Carey 8 points for passed motion)
(charged Odin a total of 15 for lottery tickets)
(charged Carey a total of 15 for lottery tickets)
(charged Fiery a total of 10 for lottery tickets)
(awarded Odin 1 point for guessing correctly)
(awarded Patzer 4 points for motion passing)
(awarded Fiery 40 points for winning the lottery)
(charged Odin 8 points for investment)
(awarded 2 points to Fiery for State of the Nomic post)

Fiery, am I supposed to be poisoning a drink? I wasn't sure if my duel with Carey had started yet or if we were supposed to wait for you to say something in a post.

I make a motion to create a new honourable title, Duelist. The duelist is allowed to be in a maximum of 5 duels, but will lose the title if they refuse a duel.
Players may challenge the Duelist to a normal duel, or they may challenge him/her to a duel for the title. This is done by the challenger saying, "I challenge [name] to a duel by [method] for the title of Duelist". If the challenger wins, neither player wins or loses points, but the challenger gains the title Duelist (and the challenged loses it). However, if the challenger loses, points gained and lost are doubled.
If no one holds the title Duelist, the title may be claimed by the first person to win a duel and say, "I claim the title of Duelist" within 24 hours of their victory.
The starting Duelist will be Odin.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Odin's motion to introduce the title Duelist.

I guess Carey will post next.

The fourth invesment alone costs 16 points; you'd have to buy investments 1, 2 and 3 first. (which cost 2, 4 and 8 points)

I make a motion to allow Double Motions. Making the same motion in both Nomy 1.0 and Nomic 16.0 within 10 minutes of each other shall be referred to as making a Double Motion. The "For the purposes of voting..." part of the motion need not be present in Nomy for the motion to be counted as a Double Motion. If the Double Motion gets accepted in both games, the rewards for acceptance shall be tripled.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Fiery's motion to allow Double Motions.

You didn't give the current vote count after voting there, which breaks Rule §03.01, though I don't believe there is a penalty associated with that.

There is one. Rule §05.01 says that you get a 2 point penalty for breaking any rule. (since I have honor, this is doubled to 4 points as per rule §04.05)

So what kinds of things do you guys like to bet on? xkcd comics? Duels? Motions passing or failing? winner of the chess game? Sports? elections? The next poster? Anything else? I am taking any and all reasonable wagers about anything.

Also, I lost that wager to Fiery.

Buy: Investment 1 for 2 points

I think before we accept wagers on in-game events like motions we should make sure that player's can't bet 'dishonestly' to their gain.

I make a motion to restrict players betting on and issuing wagers on some events, particularly events which they can affect in their favour. This includes but is not limited to betting on a motion which they have previously voted positively on, or voting positively on a motion on which they have previously placed a bet. Furthermore, betting on duels, by the duellers or the judge, once the duel has started, is not permitted. The Arbiter has final say on whether a wager is valid under this rule.
For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to Null's motion to restrict improper gambling.

I cast my vote against Null's motion to restrict improper gambling. (now 1 for, 1 against) because, let's face it, cheating is what makes bets fun =D

I wager 5 points against 6 points that no new player will join Nomic 16.0 within 48 from the time that this wager is accepted. This wager's name will be Fiery's Wager #1.

If I loose, at least we'll have a new player. ^^

I accept Fiery's Wager #1

-Let me put it this way: have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
-Yes.
-Morons.
-Really! In that case, I challenge you to a battle of wits.
-For the princess? To the death? I accept!
-Good, then pour the wine...Inhale this, but do not touch.
-I smell nothing
-What you do not smell is iocane powder. It is odorless, tasteless, dissolves instantly in liquid and is among the most deadly poisons known to man.
-Hmm
-All riight: where is the poison? The battle of wits has begun. It ends when you decide and we both drink and who is right and who is dead.
-But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine it from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own cup or his enemies. Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet because he would know that only a great fool would reach or what he is given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known that I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
-You've made your decision then?
-Not remotely! Because Iocane comes from Australia. As everyone knows, Australia is entirely peopled with criminals. And criminals are used to having people not trust them as you are not trusted by me. So I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you.
-Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.
-Wait 'til I get going! Where was I?
-Australia.
-And you must have suspected that I would have known the poison's origin, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me!
-You're just stalling now.
-You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? You've beaten my giant, which means that you're exceptionally strong...so you could have put the poison in your own cup, depending on your strength to save you, so clearly I cannot choose the wine in front of you. But you've also bested my Spaniard, which means you must have studied and in studying you must have learned that man is mortal, so you wouldhave put the poison as far from yourself as possible, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
-You're trying to trick me into giving away something. It won't work.
-It has worked! You've given everything away! I know where the poison is!
-The make your choice.
-I will and I choose...What in the world can that be?

Drink #2 was poisoned. Carey wins the duel.

I offer to trade 10 points for an Extra Vote Perk.
I offer to trade 15 points for the title of Duelist.

Since Odin was the only one who bought a ticket, he wins the lottery (I'm not even bothering to check the number of the day)

(charged Patzer 8 points for investment)
(penalized Fiery 3 points for not giving a vote count)
(charged Chia 14 points for 3 investments)
(+1 point to Fiery and -1 to Carey due to wager)
(charged null 2 points for investment)
(charged Odin 5 points for lottery ticket)
(awarded Odin 5 points for winning the lottery)
(awarded Odin 1 point for guessing correctly)
(awarded Odin 8 points for motion passing)
(+3 to Carey and -2 to Odin for duel)
(awarded Fiery 2 points for State of the Nomic Post)

Fiery, Carey accepted my wager #1. Or does it not count because it wasn't in bold?

I abstain from voting of Fiery's motion to allow Double Motions. (Now 1 for, 0 against, 1 abstain)

I challenge Carey to a duel by Midnight Thread Necromancy.
I challenge Fiery to a duel by Pistols at High Noon.
I challenge Null to a duel by Sabres at Dawn to first blood.

I guess that Carey will post next.

I'm actually not sure whether I'm currently in a duel or not. Could someone please make an account of all active duels? The 2 points reward I offered for that still stands.

And yes, Carey didn't accept your bet according to the rules because he didn't write it in bold.

Is it possible to accept a wager after the deadline has been passed? Because my wager was that Monday's comic would be Easter-related, and Carey accepted it on Monday.

I just went through all the posts since dueling started, and it looks like all the duels except for the tournament and the ones I just started have finished.

I guess that Fiery will post next.

Fine, then. I accept Odin's challenge, and request Null to be judge.

Charity: Give 2 point to Odin.

If you did not want the wager anymore you should have withdrawn it. Sorry.

Aww... I'm sad now. You accepted it before I woke up today, so I didn't have a chance to withdraw it. :(

I wager 5 points against 5 points that tomorrow's winning lottery number (April 11, 2012) will be over 50.

I make a motion to add a new rule to bets and wagers. If the wager is not accepted before the deadline, it is automatically cancelled. For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as Odin's motion to prevent people from accepting wagers when they know the outcome.

I pick the nickname cjq.

I cast my vote against Odin's motion to prevent people from accepting wagers when they know the outcome. Now 0 for, 2 against.

I make a motion that all new players shall start with 3 points, instead of 0, for the purposes of wagers, and the reduction of negative values in the game. This motion shall also encourage wagers, and help new players start in the game match faster. For the purposes of voting, this motion shall be referred to as cjq's motion to give new players 3 points.

I wager 0 points against 0 points that nobody will vote against cjq's motion to give new players 3 points by the time the person accepts this wager.

I guess that Fiery will post next.
