I have a knack of thinking perpendicular to others. It's more of a curse than a blessing.

flicky1991 wrote:But is there 100% probability of that? Or a slim chance they'll do anything else?

I had had the impression there was a relatively large scale test of it, but as far as I can tell from a Google search, this experiment was only tried once, and involved six monkeys sharing a single typewriter. So there is no absolute proof so far, but I'm doubtful that any monkey would press keys with sufficient randomness for it to even be possible for a work of literature to result. Admittedly, they're probably much more likely to type a certain four-letter word many times in a row than to type a single sentence, but I'd say it's still highly unlikely if not impossible.

But if we're talking about the standard "infinite monkeys and infinite typewriters" scenario, with the goal being that somewhere in the room a coherent sentence will be typed...

That requires it to be possible for a monkey to type a coherent sentence. If all monkeys just hit s repeatedly, then even an infinite number of them won't give you a coherent sentence. The idea that anything that can happen will happen requires a degree of randomness which I don't think is present in the case of monkeys with typewriters.
