I shout at you do make up your damn mind, then reveal my one-half Space of Ades, which gives me access to the first quarter of the churlish word set (which is, of course, normally totally locked down).

This allows me to play Crepuscule.

The recent diagonal shift to the C/D words along with the unusually poly-syllabic tendencies of this particular game gives me a compelling opportunity to play the old "Gatman" gambit:

I've never thought of crepuscule as churlish. Creepy, maybe, and zoological, but not churlish. Maybe I'm missing something.

I play my Jack, opening three-word phrases for three turns.

Funny you should say that. From what I can remember, the inclusion of that word in the churlish set was actually part of the big WC handbook controversy of aught-five. The issue, of course, was that the inclusion of crepuscule in a locked set like churlish meant that it couldn't also be included in sets to which it's better suited, like, as you say creepy or zoological (or, interestingly enough teatime). But that controversy was settled in favor of the Word Whig and Preely Party coalition - I can see from you play style that you must have more Crescent Conservative leanings, so it's understandable why that play would rub you wrong.

But let's not get political here. Instead, allow me to summarily counter Flicky with a play I'm surprised he didn't see when trying to limit me:

bribe the manager puts me in a nice position of growth, rather than relegated to wage slavery.

I can't help but admire the way thecamoninja underlines words. It may give the appearance that he's just talking about the history of the game, while in reality, those underlined words are giving him access to subtle but powerful moves in future games, if he manages to win this one, and otherwise he's just wasting his time doing it (or at least, it's not different from italizing them.) I wonder if he's overestimating his chances, but, I hadn't seen someone mix Discrete Play while talking about something else before.

Anyway, I announce that I have a one-half Spade of Aces up my sleeve, which allows me to:

Vytron, lowercase is standard enough in most versions that you don't need to specifically state it. Unless, like me, you're playing lowercase.

Specifically stating it adds fluff to my move, and some redundancy (because the word is already lowercase). I've gotten used to doing it, because even though most of the time, stating the obvious is irrelevant, sometimes it's advantageous. Like this time, having this position allows me to:

I'm starting to get a sense of your general strategy, Vytron. Though I'm assuming you can see that, if you tried to set up any of the more Mornington-style gambits, I would have several options at this point to escape from them. Even if I do this:

Stall for three seconds, then Tractor

Oh my goodness. Flicky's stall action gives me the perfect opening to make my absolute favorite play. You guys have no idea how amazing this is. I have been waiting basically my entire Word Crescent career to play this word:

Honey-fuggling? Really? Is that even legal, I can't find any information about Honey-fuggling related to Word Crescent anywhere. I even wonder if you're making that move up, but, given your career, I doubt it.

So I'll assume it's a REALLY obscure move (from the Unknown Moves kind? though, I thought I knew all of them, maybe it's one from these that one can't know one can't know? I hate those.)

Since I don't know what I'm dealing with (for all I know, you could play paradox next move), I'll try to counter with:

Unpredictable

Man, just when I thought Word Crescent was an open information strategy game, it turns out it's more like Poker...

You might have noticed I've been playing a lot of broad-rooted and zeta-score words in this game. But you probably haven't grasped the extent of the subtle archaeokaineoracination network that I've been building up.

I resorb all my shift-points and eu-tokens to hyperpotentiate a cryptoludio.

I therefore do not have to reveal which word I am playing this turn, except that it is one of the words in this post. However, I elect to upjuice the word by deconvoluting two degrees of freedom: I reveal that the word's third and fifth anchorages are Talmudic scholar and Muslin.

How... What... You broke my brain, Doctor. You will pay for this.

I steal Rosewinsall's uncertainty. I use three mints to recalibrate my aim, and allow myself to make a conditional move. Therefore:

If Diaphanous reveals his latest move in his next post, my move is buttered. If he doesn't... my move is paradox.

You lose your privacy or lose the match, Diaphanous.

Point of order! Point of order! Point-of-or-der! *bangs gavel*

Flicky! You bolded two words in your post, which means by almost every interpretation of every rule set, you just illegally played two illegal words!

Wait... but, that makes it a double negative, meaning it's actually a positive and therefore valid. But that rule doesn't apply in most cases! So I still have you!

Aah! But because the target word is, in fact, paradox, not only does that double negative rule applies, it applies doubly, making Flicky's play the fabled quadruple negative (which, of course, being lgoically identical identical to a double negative, has no special effects on game play, but it's viewed as virtually unattainable and anyone who pulls it off is damn respectable).

Man, and I thought my creative underlining was tricky. Congratulations! That was intentional, right?

Anyways, seeing as we're basically waiting to see how Diaphanous reacts, I'll opt to assume he'll prefer to lose his privacy rather than end the game and go with snoop in preparation.

I reveal that my word was cat. Where is that in my post, you ask. Look under my avatar (that I lifted from a work by the talented Vytron). My word is right there, hiding, at everything must hide, in a "Location".

I interpolate cat between flicky's words, creating buttered cat paradox, forming a horizontal chain. Cat also chains with the previous words, Catty and Meow, forming a vertical chain. My word is thus the hub word of an inverse-T word juncture. This jumps my energy level up by 94 TeV. I feed the energy back into the buttered-cat perpetual motion device, until I approach by immolation limit. I channel the energy into the Central bonus-o-meter, and gain the Double Tap Bonus.

From here, of course, since I have an option on Radix, it is easy for me to root-collapse "buttered cat paradox" down to paradox, winning the game. :D :D :D

As the target word for the next game, I choose "paradox" again.

But wait!

I use my Double Tap Bonus* to play paradox again, winning the game again.

Double Victory!

The rules prohibit me from starting two new games in one post, so I'll have to leave that to the next poster. Want to try something a bit different, like Foreign Word Crescent or Phrase Crescent?

*(I know bonuses don't normally carry on until the next game, but there is a loophole for powered bonuses if played in the same post.)

Also, LOL overkill! After winning you didn't need to underline words anymore!
