Wait, so I am Vytron's play and Vytron is my play? AND anything that falls into the black hole (which is also Vytron's play) comes out of my White Hole?
Motherfucker, I have no idea how recursion rules interact with hawking radiation. LET ALONE how a Portal to the Unerworld would react to being sent over an event horizon!

Assuming it was sturdy enough, though, to survive the journey without dissipating, here's my theory for what would happen: It would eject from the White Hole and come to rest next to it, meaning that anything that went into the Black Hole would be ejected directly into the Unerworld unless they were able to perform a high-velocity 60 degree turn-on-a-dime, in which case they would escape. However, since the White Hole is mine, that means that all of the words thrown into the Black Hole and deposited in the Unerworld become Satnic versions of themselves, and must be my play! But because I played Vytron this must effect him, and because Vytron played thecamoninja, anything that effects him must also effects me, continuing in a recursive loop until it finally reaches it's logical conclusion and/or maximum bullshit capacity and the whole system falls apart!

Or is the whole thing just invalidated on a technicality because Diaphanous failed to underline Black Hole??

Fuck it, I choose to play Portal (out of my limited choice of the four words that came out of my White Hole). This allows me to take the action of play Portal until this shit gets worked out. I then use loose interpretation of the rules to allow me to play Portal 2 instead. I then invite Vytron to play co-op with me.

Taking the multilingual strategy, I play uitdoven, and take the action reaction, applied to the next poster's move.

To the Unerworld? :o, I have to check that one, I hadn't seen that word before, presumably it's like the Underworld's Basement, or something.

In the meantime, I'm not even sure if I have a legal move, but this must be legal by default:

Pass

PS - Perhaps you meant Üner World, since of course, adding diaereses to Us isn't necessary in Word Crescent, and Virtual Spaces can be spelled as Virtualspaces, maybe I should take back my initial confusion.

Oh, new page!

Welp, I see! Dr. Diaphanous didn't underline black hole to avoid being sucked by it, but it's also legal!

This allows me to play three moves (and two posts!) in a row! The Pass of above, becoming:

Satnic Vytron

And finally:

Reject to play co-op with thecamoninja.

Sorry, have never played Portal 2 before, so I'm pretty sure the session would be full of you trying to teach me how to play and me failing, while Dr. Diaphanous sneaks to the target! I can't allow that to happen.

48 hours without a move, allows me to:

Brbe the Deil into getting me out of Hel, allowing me to escape the Unerworld and go to Heven, meeting Gd and Jeus Chist, allowing me to become Agelic Vytron or rather, Vyron.

Finally, I can play a word, about time!

Oh Shit.
He did it!
Vytron did it!
He figured out how to reverse entropy in a game of Word Crescent!
The Word Crescent Universe doesn't have to die of heat death anymore!
This game will outlive the real, physical universe guys! This is huge! The stakes just got raised!

Anyways, I get stuck on a level of Portal 2 and come back to playing this game. I take a look over at the sorry mess that is the complex of black holes White Holes and Portals to the Unerworld and shake my head in disapproval.
In fact, to be precise, I shake my head seven times.

I see what you did there thecamoninja! Nice jump to the number line, but remember, I'm not Vytron, I'm Vyron. I can do cool jumps like this:

Minus Zero

Yes, I can also play several moves in here.

eπi

And from there:

-Eighty-three

If I could only multiply these... Oh, wait, I can! Well, almost...

Eighty three

Rats, I'm missing the hyphen! This is unnerving! Agh, I'll just

Eighty-three Octogintrillions

Out of frustration!

So close and so far away, but I'll keep on trying!

Your number line play was so large that it triggered a Universal Overflow Event, allowing me to join the game late and make a move outside of the normal turn order. I play a tasty Chicken Parmigiana which I offer to Vytron in an attempt to make peace for jumping in on him.

Ouch, I always forget about the possibility of new players coming out of nowhere and doing something like that. In official Word Crescent Tournaments the starting roster is fixed and no new players are allowed midgame. That's why my play has been suboptimal.

So, I'll turn back from Vyron into Vytron, for the Word Crescent Universe!

And:

Pass.

I accept Carlington's offer (couldn't do it on my other post as I was still Vyron), and eat the Chicken Parmigiana, it's good! So I play:

Oh! No wonder your play has seemed a little off kilter! We're not playing by tournament rules at all, as far as I know. I guess since Diaphanous is the OP he'd be the one to decide, but as far as I know there are a few generally acknowledged differences between tournament play and forum play.

Anyways, I employ bad maths skills and "square" my seven to give me Forty-Three

Yeah, no tournament rules please, I like the casual and friendly ambiance of the game, I'd hate if it went all serious all of a sudden, it wouldn't really be the same. Besides, if I wanted to play by tournament rules, there's plenty of sites on the internet for Word Crescent Tournaments, what we have in the xkcd forum is something unique.

Finally, I'll say that we'd just the risk of going into "officiality" (i.e.instating Tournament Directors and Administrators, prize money for winners, players having to give their full name and contact information in order to join, etc.) which leads to the original user-base being alienated and the tournaments played by a new set of people that only care about the money. The IWCA (International Word Crescent Association) sucks anyway, these games should be played for fun, not fame.

Wow, did I write all that? What a yammer!

And, huh, your jumps around the number is making me nervous, so from here I can play Cake, and make thecamoninja's face meet it!

Yeah, but distance isn't really that important under these rules, beyond resolving a career path.

I'll take advantage of Vytron's condition - I add a counter to the bowl, 5 times. I then play corn.

I use my forty-three in conjunction with a syringe to inject 43 cc's of Penicillin into Vytron, helping him get over the salmonella.

Also: Why the hell didn't I think to switch with Vytron back during the whole black hole thing? That would have solved so many problems! Arrrgh!

I don't think the true nature of flicky's move has been realized yet. This is "my" only legal move:

flicky1991's turn: Eighty-three

I'm speechless! Creating a symbiotic relationship with another player, criss-crossing our control, and then forcing me to give you the win! And all because you started in philoprogenitive (in lowercase!) in another game that carried over to this one due to Quantum Phenomena! That astonished me! Please don't tell me you predicted all these future events when you joined the game!

Congrats flicky! Looking forward to the next game! :)

Anyway, the next target word is "paradox".

Yes! I still didn't like being used as an inverse puppet :P

I'll start with Paradox (uppercase P). In this game I find it very interesting to find my way from closely related words (specially since Dr. Diaphanous's Pralines move when going for Praline, causing the entire Alternate Reality arc which I enjoyed very much, with optimal play) that turn out to be really far away from target.

Thanks! I'm afraid your royalties probably won't be much more than $50 000 000. Word crescent just doesn't have the same popular appeal as Mornington Crescent.

No, no, I do this for fun, not for fame. Word Crescent is a great hobby of mine, and whenever I share some bit of my knowledge, or make some kind of play that helps with the advancement of the game's understanding, that, by itself, is its own reward. Besides, once money is introduced, hobbies turn into work, and with so much money I'd even wonder if I'd play Word Crescent again, since, I'd probably change my life style and not have much time for it.

Hereby, I request that any royalties are donated to the charity of your choice, and thank you in advance.

Back to the game, flicky was forced to play a retroactively invalid move, which allows me to play Cop, and send flicky to Jail for 5 turns.

Don't forget I blagged the super cards. Obviously to get me to reveal the cards you should have played Arby's or Statistical arbitrage equilibrium or something like that. As it is I only have to reveal 3: Ace of Estate Agents, Jack of Scents and Five of Quincunces (First edition, mint condition).

Obviously the only place I can go from here is Radix (Unless I play a plague word, but I'm not too keen on going down that route).
