It seems like Germany has a population of about 80.6 million people. Obviously not everyone is in there at this exact moment, but Germany is also quite a popular tourist destination, so I wouldn't be surprised if the actual number of people currently in Germany is a bit higher than that, if you take Germans abroad and incoming tourists/business travelers into account.

I try!

There are a few Germans here, not a ton, I imagine some might pop in in a while.

The important question is Baden or Württemberg... Just kidding, as a fellow Bawüler I welcome anyone who isn't Bavarian. (Just kidding)

Baden-Würrttembergerin here, and sadly we have yet to have a powdery, delicious pastry named in our honour. I am currently in Germany, not far from Stuttgart, so I believe the answer to OP's question is yes. I am someone, and I am here, OP. Rejoice!

Well their last post was over six months ago so I'm not sure how much they care at this point.

... How did I miss this? The enemy of my enemy is my... Well, kidding.

My mum's from Heidenheim, does that mean I can get dual citizenship?

General consensus is one can have as many Bundesland citizenships as one wants, but will have to live with the burden of a conflicting heritage for the rest of one's life. It is a cruel fate far too easily inflicted on far too many. Imagine the horror when November 11th rolls around and you don't know what to call the carnival season. Fastnacht? Fasching? One may never know for sure.

Just for the record, that quote isn't mine.

Oh dear. Berliners and Swabians are widely considered to have a somewhat difficult relationship.

raudorn wrote:General consensus is one can have as many Bundesland citizenships as one wants,

Actually, I believe there is an upper limit at 16. Maybe 25 if we allow Austrian Bundesländer as well...

But then, there is plenty of opportunity for conflicting heritage even within the same Bundesland when we look at the larger ones - especially those with a hyphen.

It's funny - I always fondly think of Swabia as my ancestral home until I get to spend more than four days there. :D

That being said, most of my relatives are still down south and I like them.

Left myself wide open to that one, didn't I? Though that particular someone was rather insistent at that time they should be called neither Austrian nor Bundesländer, so I didn't even think of that possible interpretation until now.
