All I was saying is that Madison is way easier to travel to, and more centralized, than Chicago or Milwaukee.

I was thinking of another place. Not good in winter like now, but when the snow melts...what about the Mall of America?

We're already kinda organizing a Chicago meetup... so if anyone wants to come to that, go for it.

Chicago traffic isn't really that bad if you time it right. Taking the train is better.

I'm in MN too (Little Canada, north of St Paul).

Chicago has the Field Museum, I to Chicago once from MN with my wife just to see it. They are right about the public transportation there. We were clueless about Chicago, but managed to get from the airport to our hotel on the lake with no problems using the train (and a 2 block walk)

Also from the twin cities. I would probably go for Madison, but anything further out would probably be too far for me. I wonder if one can still get 65 dollar air fare to Chicago.. Yeah, right :)

It's sounding like there's a good bunch of us right here that could get all snooty on the rest of you and do our own thing :)

For the record, i'm not in the "upper midwest" range defined here, but would be able to possibly make it to a Chicago meetup.

In spite of http://xkcd.com/250/ I might suggest seeing mythbusters Grant Imahara, an Electrical Engineer from University of Southern California and Kari Bryon at UWPlatteville (an hour west of Madison) on April 21. I realize this is out of most people's way, and that it is a Monday evening, but I am throwing an invite out to xkcd-ers one and all nonetheless. Anyone who's interested let me know, and I will keep you informed.

As to Milwaukee in August, it sounds great. Although I would like it in about mid-June maybe so another XKCD fan and I could go up together, that is if he can finally get here :(

And where in Milwaukee?

Well, I'm not there anymore, so good luck with that. I can't imagine people actually being eager to stalk me either, isn't that something that happens to popular/good-looking people? Or, in my brother's case, people who are dumb enough to date psychos. Either way, I'm not exactly at high-risk for that.

Oh, so you think. Maybe you are a great target for stalking because you think you wouldn't be one. Reverse psychology...whooo

But anyways, we need a solid plan for xkcd-ers to meet up.

Nah, I'd make a great target for stalking because better than 95% of the time, I'm either at home, at work, or in transit between home and work. It'd be way easy.

I'm in Chicago, i can get car transit, but its not highly optimal because its hard to plan ahead.

My vote is for Chicago, as i said before. I might be able to make it too Milwaukee (spelling? (to lazy to spell check)), and i take occasional vacations up to Blanchardville WI (by Argyle or somewhere), because my friend has farm up there, i always go on weekends, but i don't know when im going up next.

If any Chicagoians want to meat up please PM me! Also, PM if there is any other threads about the Chicago meet.

So is there anyone xkcd wants to see at Summerfest? Methinks that could be a fun place for a meet-up.

Wait, why are all the suggested meetup locations so far east? It seems that's not a very central location; then again, I suppose I'm not taking into consideration population density. Still, I suggest meeting at one of these places:

Enterprise
Grover
Whitewater

Considering that I'm right in the middle just about anywhere in the Midwest would't be too far. I am also chronically bored so anytime, anyhwere.

I'm within driving distance.

I missed the last Chicago meetup (by a day, grr), and I'd like to have another meetup; pretty much anywhere in the midwest is good for me, as long as it's during a weekend. If my coercion skills are up to scratch it could be at my house!

I'm going to Milwaukee today! But not for xkcd reasons...

We can never seem to pin things down here...hmm...

But in Milwaukee we could always go to the art museum or to the park and walk by the lake

Adventure by the lake? Will there be zeppelins and remote controlled sharks with lasers? Surely, we need to have dashingly handsome gentlemen with hats and canes and capes that hold portals to other world!
