yeah, 3 hours is a long drive! i may be out of your way, but i have a 2 bedroom apartment, so you're welcome at my place. and no worries if you find something closer... :) i live in London, and i'll be heading to Guelph on the Saturday, but i'm happy to host on Friday, for sure!

Thanks! Shall keep in mind! You are actually on the way (london is about half way between Rochester, Michigan, and Waterloo) Also I miscalculated, it's 4 hours to Waterloo. Still perfectly do-able. But yeah, would definitly want to make it a weekend thing (as in, stay in Canada for the weekend and hang out) because with the border crossing too that might turn into 5+ hours depending as to how things are movin' along.

WOO
Okay so Friday, Sept 24th is the date then?
Can I hang out with someone in Canada for at least Saturday (and maybe Sunday morning? I think I have to be back around 2:00 or something on Sunday)? I'm sure I can work not working on Friday, or just going early morning, so I can totally show up whenever Friday.

Where?
When?
Who?? So far, Me (Amy), Jessica, and shinybaby, right?? Anyone else?

If my house is clean I can host, and I can offer a couch as well.

We could do Abstract, or possibly just go for coffee?

So it's just the three of us then? I thought there were a lot more people in the waterloo area. Like...I dunno...wasn't Gordon from there? And...Ren? And I thought others too.

Well, I know Gordon and Ren were around. I think I saw Ren at the bus stop the other day.

I wonder if they'll respond to a PM.

Good idea. I PM'd them in case you didn't.
Also, I am trying to now hook up with the Toronto grotto so I can go caving that weekend while I'm out there. :D

WELL HELLO

I am up for this! The 24th works well for me, except I have a CD Release Party for a friend to go to at 7:30 at the Button Factory. How would people feel about getting dinner somewhere in Uptown Waterloo?

Uptown has some awesome food.
Anyone up for Indian? We could go to Masala Bay. It's just behind Symposium for those who live in the area. And for those who don't, it's awesome indian food.

okay! so it sounds like Masala Bay is a go... i'm *always* up for good Indian food. i'm bringing/meeting bumpgrrl as well. do we have a time set? i work until 6 on that Friday, but i can usually head out a little early... are we going to meet at the restaurant? does anyone have decent directions for how to get there?

is it just us ladies this time? (cue someone fainting somewhere in the world at the idea of an internet meetup peopled only by GIRLS!!! the ones who don't exist on the interwebs!!) :D

edit: just re-read Ren's post about needing to be somewhere at 7:30... i can make a point to leave early/take a vacation hour or 2 and be in the area for 6... does that work?

Should work fine for me. I was gonna take the afternoon off (it's about a 3.5 hr drive for me). I need directions/googlemap link to the place though. Or, Jessica, depending as to when you get off of work maybe PM me directions to your place and we meet there first?

I KNOW, girls from the Internet! We must make use of that. Whenever people ask how we know each other, or really any time we can use it, we must respond "Don't worry, we're from the Internet!!" :D

My Partner might come, depending on her mood.

Masala bay is located at 3B Regina St N.

I work 10-6 most days, but since I live down the street, I can be there not long after 6pm. I could drive home and get Amy, but that will mean our arrival time will be 6:30.

But either way is fine :)

Hey nope, it's cool, I can meet up with ya'all at the restraunt. :) And your partner should totally come! FIVE GIRLS FROM THE INTERNET! :D And that'll work out fine as I'll just <creepy voice> follow you home </creepy voice> so I wont get lost on silly unlabled Canadian roads. (HEY dont give me that look. I always get lost at some point over there since you can't keep highway numbers consistant and I'm forever checking my spedometer beacuse the km/hr are so tiny and I can estimate but your police are so durn picky!). Not as bad as Ohio roads though, take 35 south to drive northwest sort of jazz going on there!)

So Masala's at 6:00pm Friday night the 24th. IT'S ON.
:D

Edit: wow many smilies, maybe I am just a tiny bit excited? Also out of curiosity...the PM I sent to Gordon to get his attention for this thread in case he's still around has been read (it's gone from my outbox) but he's not stopped off in here. So I'm guessing hes not around or not interested or both.

i was so sad to miss Indian food and awesome internet people! :( but work has been insane and i'm always on call. hopefully things are slowing down now, so i won't have as many emergency calls to worry about.

i'm really glad i still got to see Amy, but i missed hanging out with you Jess! and Ren! (though i hear your work pulled a fast one, too... :P)

what are the odds of a rinse and repeat?? :D November-ish?

What are you guys doing October 28th? There is a KW Symphony concert which is totally xkcd - Beethoven and Your Brain! LIVE SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS with the audience on how the brain reacts to music - it's hosted by neuroscientist Dan Levitin (This Is Your Brain on Music) - and everyone gets an iClicker to participate in live polls while listening to and discussing Beethoven 5. And stuff. Um, and I can get us $13 tickets (so long's there's 4 or less of us)?

So? Want to be a part of SCIENCE?

Otherwise I am up for stuff in November.

24th is a thursday... I probably can't make it as I'll work until 6, have an appointment at 6:30 til 7:30, and probably won't have car access...

But still awesome.

I was actually out with the same group of friends that you (Jessica and shinybaby) met probably 2 years ago or so. Anyway it reminded me of the forums and so I thought I'd log in and see what was shaking.

So.. what's shaking?
