IN LIGHT OF RECENT ZOMBIE-RELATED EVENTS,

I may have to withdraw my attendance to this event. Could we possibly reschedule? Our wonderful city decided to have a zombie walk at precisely 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 21st, 2008. There is no way I can miss a zombie walk.

Hey, this is the thing from Improve Everywhere Chicago. Which I am trying to do anyway. So you may end up seeing me there as well, though it's unconfirmed weather I can go or not as of yet..

Yeah, I won't be there anymore.

Sorry.

It's just. You know.
Andrew Bird and The New Pornographers and a road trip with a friend just sounds really... awesome.

EDIT: But if we have another meetup, I will try to be at that one. :)

Ahh damn! I miss it by a week. I get back from Australia on July 7th. There better be some good note-worthy shenanigans from this!

Thanks for reminding me, I need to practice my singing (not an instrument player, unfortunately enough, don't have the discipline required). Istanbul and Still Alive are good, any other ideas for possible songs to sing/dance to/play at the Bean or on the Trains?

Do you guys all know each other? Would you accept an adventure-seeking stranger trying to make friends in this city? Is... what? there an instrument requirement? I can bring castanets. And if I end up feeling cool with you guys offer my place in Ukrainian Village to crash.

I might show up to this. Chicago is only about two hours away from me.

Instruments are not required, but are appreciated, because we do plan to sing/play "Still Alive" and "Istanbul" (or any other song, suggestions in this thread)

As a New Yorker who's going to be in Chicago for the next few months, I'm up for shenanigans. As for the cops, would that really be a problem would they even care? I mean if we sing Istanbul how could they ever say no? As for the Zombies, well, I'd rather not be one, but they might be fun to look at if they pull it together. Also might bring a friend.

SLIGHT CHANGE IN PLAN! Though this is still on, learn any song you want. Everyone will begin playing at 2:01 on the dot, and everyone will stop at exactly 2:11. We still need a meetup place for after the 'concert'.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Field Museum. Residents, begin checking out passes from Chicago Public Library to said museum for maximum !=$. But bring $10 anyways.

I think we all walk over there together, no? after the meeting at the bean? But I propose we first take a detour to watch the zombies march. They're going to start in the middle of the loop (Daley Plaza?) and end up at Millenium Park.

Also later in the evening, besides Summerfest, is a block party in Wicker Park, and also at 6pm salsa dancing + lesson in Grant Park - Summerdance. Yum!

We sing Istanbul first, then Still Alive. And for ten minutes, the cops won't bug us. They'll just be like "Oh, some more people doing weird things in millenium park, ignore them, they'll leave after they get bored"
The plan is to go Field Museum afterward, I'll be sure to remember my ten bucks.

I feel like an ass; I overslept AND I couldn't find a cab. I finally made it to Buckingham fountain at 2:25 but I missed everyone. To apologize to LSK, I offer to take you (and anyone else who wants to come) with me to the next geohashing.

Well, that was underwhelming.

1:55: Arrive at Millenium Park with camera and parents. Notice people dressed like zombies walking around the Glass Bean.
2:00: Anticipate arrival of fellow Chicago XKCDenizens.
2:01: Wait for music to play.
2:05: Become anxious when music doesn't play.
2:11: Become worried when NOTHING HAPPENS.
2:12: Meet LSK and two other guys (Rob and Katrina?).
2:13: Create a distinct lack of plan
2:14: Decide to follow zombie walk.
Some time later: Zombie walk ends at Water Tower Place, Rob and Katrina leave, LSK and I go to Borders to play 1000 Blank White Cards.

Not the best meetup, but it could have been worse.

If I'd have known about this I'd have been torn between geohashing and the surprise meetup.

I say that we just follow Geohashing from now on, unless anyone has a more specific plan than that.

I dunno if I'm gonna be able to Geohash. School is kinda a problem.
But we'll see. Hopefully.
