Heyyyy, my brother's going to grad school in pensacola. He's an xkcd fan as well, but I'm not sure if he's a fora member -.-
7 hours is a bit too far for me though :/

say, how many xkcdians can see the shuttle launch from their house at night? (or day)(weather permitting)
I'm in homestead and i remember seeing the shuttle at night like 2 minutes after liftoff.
i didn't really expect to be able to see it at all but with clear skies and big flames, it was easy to see it at 300+- miles away

there's supposed to be a lunch tonight at 6:51pm local tonight

Out of curiosity, how many people here are high-schoolers on a math team that goes out to mu-alpha-theta competitions? Just wondering if I'd ever cross paths with one of you there.

Pensacola here as well, it would be nice to meet up with fellow readers sometime.
I know a few who live around the area personally. But there are many more than I'd thought to find around here.

So. I've seen a lot of people proclaiming where they are. It seems that the optimal meetup location would be Tampa or Orlando. I prefer Tampa (I live there).

Any weekend is fine by me, but I would agree that 2010 gives people more notice.

Ass of the 18th, Tampa people can always PM me for a meetup.

If anyone is interested, like as part of a meetup, I can get into either busch gardens or Adventure islands free with the guests free as well, if you'd wanna do that.

xkcd readers dont really care about homework.
we care just enough to make sure our letter grades are in the right order; or if theyre number grades, that theyre in some sort of code.
damn.

i think thats usually because i assume everyone the same age, until they tell me otherwise and then its just a slap in the face.

I think it's great. It epitomizes the ideals of the Internet. People judged on what they say and think, not who they are.

Sadly I feel rather old as well now, 20 here. [21 in November] [[Scorpio, admittedly.]]
I'll admit the meet-up location is a bit of a trek, but if it does end up being in that region I know at least 1 other reader would come with me, possibly up to 4 other readers.
As long as it falls possibly over the summer or so, as to escape the educational prison I've locked myself in.
Maybe if monetary limitations allow I'll be able to serve up some food for the bunch, again depending on headcount/preference.
I imagine diversity will be an issue, but 4~5 separate large dishes, a few sides, and square ton of salad fixings should do the trick.
Could make for a nice picnic. Look forward to being able to get this all wrapped together.

Holy.. shit.. seriously?

ugh. I'm 25. In Lakeland. Heh.. I need to go to Lowry Park Zoo at some point since I bought a year pass and still haven't gone back to get it and my son keeps asking to see the monkeys.

Edited to add :
With the year pass to the zoo, you get free admission to MOSI and The Florida Aquarium for the entire month of September. If anyone would be interested in meeting up there.

I wouldn't mind, though we'd probably need more than just 2 or 3, especially since I'm still 17 and that might come off as slightly creepy xD
