Aw damn! Well I'll definitely be going to G&Ds then.
Oh, and I applied for University College. Picked it because it's the only one I've visited, it's gorgeous, and doesn't have a ridiculous name :D

Oriel, Maths & Computer Science joint honours. We should totally have an xkcd meetup sometime. Anyone want to tell me / ask my contact details / meet-up locations or whatever, PM me. Or can beyondweird suggest one? I've not been to Oxford before so I don't know the place.

Although my teacher hilariously warned us about not drinking or getting cheap food, citing a student a few years back who got food poisoning and had to have postponed interviews :D.

This is another vote for any meets must include G&Ds

So, to get the ball rolling, who would be interested in a meet soonish (perhaps during interviews)?

Everyone doing maths / computer science (or both) will be in town between 13th and 16th. Sounds like there's a fair few of us here. So far I count blubloblu, Kulantan, aliosha, Fifi and me. Might be a bit hard to get one time when not all of us have been snagged for interviews (evening would probably be good, or the sunday maybe...?). But yeah, G&Ds - ice cream cafe sounds good.

Not sure about the Sunday, I don't know what time my flight is into England. If anyone wants my number just PM me and I'll text you when I know what time my interview is :)

My required time of arrival at St Hilda's is 5pm, but as I'm local I'm mplanning to be a bit early. I'll probably be sitting in G&D's prominently wearing an xkcd t-shirt from about 1:00pm until 4:30pm, so I reckon it'd be a plan for anybody in the area to pop in at some point to say hi.

What do y'all reckon?

Alas, I am away from Oxford now *tortured*

I do however have friends at Hildas, and I think you'll enjoy yourself, it's a nice place :) Good luck!

Sounds like a plan :) My flight arrives at about midday, not sure how long the bus trip is from Heathrow but I'll definitely try and make it to G&Ds.

Sounds like a good plan - I have no idea where G&Ds is, but I'll try to get there before it's too late. Any idea what the uni wants us all at our colleges by?

It's 5pm for Maths/CompSci, dunno about other courses. I assume the college will let you leave your stuff somewhere?

Hmm... that is a point. Which one were you thinking of? I usually go to the Cowley Road one, but one of the others will probably be more convenient for the actual uni. Here are the locations of all three.

Clarendon Street would be the closest to me, but I don't mind walking around Oxford to see it. .
Although, I wonder what obscene word starting with F shocked Google enough to it blur out.

George and Danver on St. Aldates is closer for me, but yeah I really don't mind which one we go to.

My plan was the St Aldate's one - more central, and I think it's the biggest (ergo, less likely to be over-crowded, as opposed to just crowded). Feel free to drag unwilling people along if you like.

Didn't realise Oriel did Maths and CS. Spivey is awesome, listen to him.

None of you happen to be any PhilThe (Philosophy and Theology) applicants do you?

We're so rare, I think there's 25ish of us in our first year?

Well, I hope people are still up for this a couple of days later! I'll drop my bags off at Hilda's at 1300, so I'll probably be at G&D's on St Aldates at around 1330. If you get lost, PM me for my number, or email me - I'll probably arrange interwebs access for myself once I've arrived.

See you there

EDIT: I'm there and sitting wearing the http://store.xkcd.com/xkcd/#Useless tshirt. Sitting right in the middle of the room.

UPDATE: Fifi, Stormbringer_951, Blubloblu and I successfully met at George and Denvers and walked around the city for a while. If anybody turned up after we left, I'm sorry! I've written a bit about it in my blog.

It's funny how you've wrote 951 here, and 451 in the blog :P. My fault for choosing a generic internet handle with a number, I suppose.

Anyway, it was great fun meeting all of you guys, good luck in your interviews. Maybe we should have another G&Ds trip on wednesday or something... I dunno. Good luck anyway.

No Worcester applicants? Shame on you all, you're missing out, we have ducks. Hope everyone's interviews went well (now I feel old) and if there are any meetups planned in the near future I'd definitely be up for it.

Congrats! I'm still waiting on mine, it probably won't arrive until after Christmas. I'm not very optimistic about it, but I don't really mind.
