Londoners - come see my band on Sat!

Postby the_bandersnatch » Thu Aug 06, 2009 11:13 am UTC

Hey London-based xkcd'ers (I know you're out there)! My band, The Knutsens is coming down from the far reaches of the Northern wastes to play a gig in the fair capital this Saturday night (8th August) at the Cavendish Arms in Stockwell (SW8 2HJ). We don't know many people from London town so if you'd like to come see us and support us that's be great. Also there's 5 bands in total on that night, and it's a fiver in, so that's a pound per band, which is a bargain! Did I mention we're great? I'm sure you'd like us!

Incidentally, we also have a gig in Skegness on Monday, but I'm sure no one lives there.

What genre are you? Any gigs in Brum coming up?

We're a mixture of genres but we've pretty upbeat melodic rock mostly, with some mellow acoustic stuff and some dancey keyboard stuff. No gigs in Birmingham scheduled for now, but if you can recommend any venues I'll see what I can sort out!

Stockwell! Not Stockwell!

Alright, I'll think about it.

Alas, Stockwell was all we could get. It's annoying as they're only giving us a 25 minute set even though we're driving all the way from Newcastle, too.

That is a long drive! Stockwell's not too far, I'm just being dramatic.

I shall do this! Rock out with my Dickens out and whatnot.

Oh, any idea when you'll be playing, ie when to show up?

Woohoo, we got one! We're on at 20:30 I believe. I'm the lead guitarist from The Knutsens, I'll probably be wearing either my cartoon "Here's Johnny!" t-shirt, or my Questionable Content "Music + Science = Sexy" one. Come say hi, I'll buy you a pint!

Me too. We're having a picnic beforehand, if you want to come. I'm looking at parks in the area as we speak. Check the London meetup thread for info.

That'd be great, but since we're driving down I'm guessing we'll be parking up in Middlesex where we're staying, then straight over to the venue to soundcheck, then I'll have to hang out there until we play so it's highly unlikely I'll be able to make it, alas. Shame, as a picnic in a park would be a great idea, and one the rest of the guys would enjoy too. Hopefully I'll make another meet-up though. Anyway, anyone who comes to the gig should come say hi!

Thanks Moo! It was a good night and good to meet you and Fjafjan - shame you couldn't hang around. We ended up going down Camden for a bit and having a few more beers round that area, it was pleasant. Hopefully we'll be able to play in London again at some point soon.
