I can probably do this. What are you looking to get?

I'm trying to make a documentary.

Yeah, I got that from your earlier posting. I was just wondering what kind of geohashing footage you wanted for it. Doesn't matter anyway since I didn't end up going. Probably wouldn't have been worth shooting (or going at all) because it was in kind of a far area and it didn't seem like many people were going. Your best bet will probably be to wait for a week in a good spot, with good weather, and where Randall will be there.

So, I realize we have a few weeks to think about it, but do we all want to do something for the 4th of July? Perhaps grilling and eating of tasty treats somewhere and watching fireworks on the bridge?

Come on, people. Why are you not at Cake Night? Your dads are all so important that they beat out Cake? Alex's dad is dead, you fuckers, and you just had to rub that in by spending your evenings with your dads instead of with him.

Right, so about the 4th, I think I'll make a new thread, if there's interest from people outside the regular Boston-ish area of this thread's purview. Or, to see if there is.

4th of July = good. Man, I go a few days without seeing all of you and I feel like it's been years. It's been especially long since I've seen Meaux. Also, I'm not working tomorrow.

i guess you're old enough to know. kids out on the east coast. roughly twenty years old. got coaxed out by a certain perfect ratio.

So, for those of you who are above the age of 21, I feel it is my duty to inform you that the Hold Steady is gracing Boston with their presence again next Thursday night, at the Paradise, and if you wish to experience Craig Finn and the others rocking you so hard you just might die, it's actually free when you sign up at boston.going.com/holdsteady.

This is my favorite band, and they've just released their new album, Stay Positive.
I will be there. Oh yes. I will be there.

Most of us seem to have birthday parties of friends and bbqs and stuff to attend this weekend, leaving little time for xkcd events, but there may be some things in the work for next week. I shall post when I know.

It was indeed a "good time" I had the advantage of a gaggle of bicyclers and a car to take me home from the gaggle later, and being there without much in the way of children. Also I'd only been reminded about it at 4 PM yesterday and this internet at work is highly unreliable.

Mostly I went for Laser Tag, Go Karts are also AWESOME. I played a couple games because people were trying to get rid of their tokens. Mostly Ski-ball, and a few easy ticket winners which I just gave to the token donators. Go Karts and Laser Tag were really the point though, but the track and the laser tag room are both smaller than what I'm used to. I was really good at the go karts, because I'm used to them going faster. But there's no score at the end of the race! How do you know who WON if there's no SCORE at the end!?

Anyway, they're closing June 30th, would go again.

Anyone feel like going to F1 Boston (in Braintree) on Sunday? $20 for 20 laps, driver's license required.

F1 Boston Race Licenses
To race at F1 Boston all drivers must be over 18 and hold a valid driver's license in order to obtain an F1 Boston Race license. Please contact the Reception Desk at 781-848-2300. All new license holders will be provided with a head-sock, which must be used whenever using one of the F1's helmets.

Annual License holders are entitled to a 10% discount off regular retail prices in The Store @ F1 Boston any may also pre-book and pay for Track time.

Day License $10.00
Annual License $25.00
Competition License $40.00
Annual to Competition Upgrade $15.00
Same-day Day to Annual License Upgrade $15.00
Day to Annual License Upgrade with 30 days $20.00
Arrive & Race All drivers racing at F1 Boston take part in both practice and race laps. The number of laps on either track varies.

Track One $28.00
Track Two $28.00
This looks like a minimum of $38, not $20. Which I can't afford right now, I don't know how big my buffer is for various things I've charged lately. How's next weekend? This does sound awesome. I did pretty well at Good Times, but those ones aren't TOO fast.

Darn, you're right -- they killed the $20 special, and the other place I've known about was shut down. Grr.

Aha, Checkered Flag Racing - Saturday Night Special 7pm-10pm: $10 per Adult race ($5 day license). It's about 45 minutes North of Boston on 93.

I should make it clear, I would love for people to come dance with me but will be in no way offended if they leave near the 12 hour to go watch movies.
I plan to be fairly drunk by then anyway, and may be in full dance mode unable to understand things go on besides movement and music.
I want to get to a place where I am neither conforming nor rebelling but simply being.

I just stumbled across this thread and browsed through it, and I think this might be a really good find... I'm a student who's home in boston for the summer, and this seems like a great little group to be an exciting distraction on occasion.

I'm not consistently around, but I'm going to keep an eye on this thread and try to make it to some kind of brunch or picnic or something. I wish I'd gotten my act together to get to the Serenity showing tonight..

I know there have been a couple of other questions about "can I come to this too?" (from what's been said, I'm going to assume that I can, in fact, tag along), but I'm kinda curious what the demographics of this group are typically like. Maybe rather than bugging you all about it, I'll try to go look a few of you up on the post your face thread..

So.. yeah. I'm Toby! I live in Medford, right near Davis Square and I hope to meet some of you!

Thought I'd say hi too. I've been in Waltham since last August, but I just noticed this thread recently. I met a few of you at the geohash in the middle of I-95 (I had the Jewfro and the UNC chemistry shirt). Anyway, I'd definitely like to make some of these, whenever my schedule allows.

The Saturday geohash needs to be a little closer to the city than yesterday for me to make the trip.

Regardless of the distance, it is better when it is well attended (judging from the 2 I've been too). Randall being in town and going seems to help with that (possibly a bigger factor than distance). Although meetup worthiness of the location may also be more important that distance. Even when it is far there are probably people (like me) willing to drive and chauffeur others if it seems like it will be a worthwhile trip.

I am totally down with it. I haven't been in town the last few Saturdays when geohashing has occurred. I definitely think I should be able to make the July 5th geohash. We should plan a good carpool of people to hit up that geohash. I offer up my car.

Ok, ok.. you got me. Technically, I suppose, I am closer to Teele/PowderHouse/Ball/Magoun... but those don't have T stops, so they don't really count, do they?

I'm not going to be in town for the july 4th weekend, but I've been trying to go Geohashing for a few weeks now and have not yet managed to do so. I would like to try to go this upcoming weekend (the 28th), *especially* if it's nearby. Are there other people who want to try to go to that one? I'm afraid I don't have a car to offer.. but I'll ride my bike with anyone!

I'd love to try this Saturday's geohash (I feel kinda bad about missing all of them, mostly due to travel distance, since I've been in Boston), but I'll be out of town. I'd definitely be down for trying for the July 5 geohash though.

What are people up to for the 4th?

I believe this Saturday I am going to be busy hiking up some sort of mountainous pile of earth beloved by famous New England transcendentalists, but if the geohash is in a northerly direction again I suppose Sarah and I and Flying Mike might stop in at some point. Who knows?

Ok. This is short-ish notice, but anyone who is interested, meet in front (Huntington side) of the Museum of Fine Art tomorrow evening at 6:00. It's free on Wednesday nights (pretty spendy otherwise) and so we (we being assorted Cambervillains) have decided to take advantage of that. Also, as a student at the School of the Museum of Fine Art, former employee of the MFA, and person-who-has-taken-a-lot-of-art-history, I might be able to spew some interesting information in some parts of it. Maybe. Don't count on it.

I have spent a total of about 20 minutes in the MFA. I am not missing this. Wooo, arts!

Is there a Bostonian(esque) kicking around who has the Sandman series and would like to lend it to me? I need airplane/resort reading material.
