I thought some folks were doing Shakespeare in the Park tonight, but the facebook event seems to have disappeared and Sprocket hasn't posted about it here. (I can't go in any case.)

On Sunday, I'll be in Harvard Square for a #blacklivesmatter memorial for Mike Brown, which obviously won't be an entirely happy fun time but there's music and a cookout afterwards.
Unless stated otherwise, I do not care whether a statement, by itself, constitutes a persuasive political argument. I care whether it's true.

A picnic would be excellent. (Though my schedule tends to be stupid, so I won't suggest planning around me.)

Also, anyone want to do the StrEats thing on a Tuesday at Powderhouse? It's there through the end of this month, is my understanding, and I'd happily meet up with folks on the 11th, 18th or 25th at the park at Powderhouse Square and grab food truck dinner. (Easy to do fairly spur of the moment, since you don't need to bring things other than a way to buy dinner. :P)

Sunday I already have plans, so I'll have to miss you, Greg.

I'll try to find you there, gmal. I'm tentatively planning on going to a post protest thing at the friends meeting. I don't know if that is after the cookout but I'm sure we'll figure something out.

Sandry, I'm interested. I'll pm you or something once I am at a bigger screen this evening.

So I believe next Tuesday is the last opportunity for the Powderhouse Square thing, thus, if anyone is interested, we should seize the day. I'm going to vote for meeting at 6:30, unless someone is strongly inclined otherwise.

So I guess 6:30 it is, and probably not a high turnout? :) Well, at least I'll've caught it before it's done for the summer, since I hadn't yet. And if anyone does want to show up who hasn't said anything, I'll maybe be identifiable by my red leopard print dress and red/pink-ish hair? *shrug*

D'oh, I managed to schedule myself out of making it :( Sometimes I love working evenings, and sometimes it is the worst. Hope you have delicious food and good weather!

So picnics. We should do that in September before the weather turns.

Right now in a completely unprecedented event I actually have nothing scheduled for any of the next three weekends.

Anyone a) really interested in picnicking, and b) invested in a specific weekend this month?

I like picnicking!! Spi and I are (I think) free on Sunday Sept. 13th, Saturday Sept. 19th, and during the day Saturday Sept. 26th.

I'm rather interested. I'm most free this weekend(12-13) , but I might be able to make the other weekends work.

I vote the 13th! I will be gone the next weekend, and hopefully adopting a fluffy cheeseball of a cat on the 12th.

Okay! Sunday the 13th it is, then!

Anyone have strong feelings about location? I would propose either Boston Common or Cambridge Common.

Sunday being a day conducive to laziness in my view, I would suggest we plan the picnic to go from 2PM until around 5 or 6PM, so that no one has to get up too early, but anyone who's actually an early person can come on the tail end and pretend it's a dinner picnic.

I am completely open to counter suggestions, though. And also really hoping for cat pictures. :)

Given that this is coming up quickly and that weekends tend to have lower traffic on the board, I think I'm going to go unilateral on this, and folks can countermand me if they're super passionate, but otherwise it'll stick just because we need a plan to actually exist in time for people to see it. :)

So I'm going to say:
This Sunday the 13th from 2PM to 6PM at Boston Common by the Frog Pond on the side by the café (there are tables and chairs there, so it's not exactly sit on the ground, but there's plenty of ground around to sit on, should folks prefer that).

Currently the weather seems to indicate it may rain. If it's a serious rain and not just piddly, I may post here to indicate I'm not going to show and we should consider postponing.

I will try to bring a couple small games (like card games, or board games without lots of pieces to lose/have fly away).

For anyone who hasn't met me, I'll be the person with the longish fading red/pink/purple hair.

I'm going to try and bring a quiche, and probably some other stuff that's boring and store bought. There are places nearby for folks to grab stuff and bring over, or bring stuff in with you as you like.

Thanks Sandry ~ I was just about to check into the thread today to voice my approval for 2pm :)
I will probably bring hummus and carrots and maybe homemade granola bars.

So we were just out getting groceries and it is kinda rainy (although really just damp and "spitting" as my mom likes to say). It's looking like next weekend is going to be sunny - do we want to postpone for better weather?

I think I am going to head over anyhow, in case anyone wants to come. I'll be slightly late, though. Maybe more like 2:30.

Happy to try again next weekend, though, too.

I'm also going to pass on today, at least for the beginning part. I might possibly show up later if people are still around, though forecasts seem to be saying rain is even more likely later in the day

Yeah it's looking drier now so we're getting ready to head over too. See you there! :)

Oh, for people who haven't met me, I'm wearing a green shirt with plant eating a person on the back advertising an old show of Little Shop of Horrors I was involved in. Spi has a grey dice shirt on, he's taller and has glasses.
