I will be wearing reasonably smart casual. What everyone else wears is up to them.

Right, looks like jeans and a t-shirt again for me.

Uh, yeah, I'll arrive at Central either at 5:31 or 5:56. What time I turn up at the QVB depends on my orienteering skills.

If you get a ticket to 'the city' rather than just central (no cost difference), you can catch a connection straight to town hall.

I will be there! I have not yet planned an outfit but I am sure it will be sassy. If you're all lucky I may even wear my suit jacket! (I will probably just wear my coat. Whatever.) A friend of mine who is a lurker here (hello lurker mclurkeypants) may be in attendance also. I cannot vouch for what he will be wearing, either.

Or what ACU-LP said, that would actually be smart.

I'm going to book a table for ten at 6:30 or 6:45, and hope that everyone is pretty much on time and we're only 15 minutes late.

It's not remotely far to walk. It would -maybe- take 10 minutes. I've walked it a few times.

True, but given that you pay your train fare you may as well get bang for your buck.

And the laziness thing too.

Given the largness of that list, I think someone should make a booking tomorrow. It would be good to get confirmations before that happens though.

I hereby confirm my presence :) Excitingness of a first meetup. A friend of mine MAY also turn up, but that's looking to be about 25% chance.

What time are other people arriving?

I wish I wasn't underage, otherwise I'd sooo be attending.

Also, if it was tomorrow, I'd be there.

It's not an 18+ meetup. This is due to the fact that I am not 18, and I'm not sure ACU-LP is either.

If anyone was not convinced I was definitely attending, I will be there.

I will be on time/early too since I am working tomorrow instead of thursday, but will probably still wear nice enough clothes to appease Megan.

So jestingrabbit, since you seem to have accepted the organiser's mantle, do we have a list of who will be going? Along with accompanying background checks and credit histories, of course.

The list is that list I compiled earlier. As for background checks, one of us is a cannibal. Try to guess which one... I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

And seriously, the more the merrier. A few more at the table shouldn't be a huge hassle when the table is already holding 10.

There's effectively 10 confirmed people on there. We also have Hawk as a maybe, Tegan's friend, sio, possibly mikeyberman's friend, and possibly sp00n.

I think we will pretty easily have 10 people showing up. :)

Plus a couple of people have said they're bringing others, so by my count, we're at about 12-14.

*Edit: Also, me and M&J are currently in talks about the logistics of how to play smash brothers at the meatup. I have a wii and the game and two controllers.

Meatup ey?

I could bring another two controllers if you like, and hopefully someone here has a small petrol generator, or a nice good battery. And an appropriately sized TV.

Yes, meatup as it is in the meat-o-sphere.
Also, its looking unlikely (that I'll be bringing smash bros and a wii) due to said logistical issues.

Haha, too bad we're mid-renovations here or the tenacious could have stumbled back too my place for some brawl (Stanmore, so relatively close to the city). Likely a more attainable plan than lugging a petrol generator ;)

Balsamic, I have just noticed your signature there and I am incredibly impressed. The Picture of Dorian Gray is one of my favourite novels! Anyway, yes, I will definitely be there and my friend will more than likely be there and maybe another friend too or an entourage or something, we'll see, probably just one else they'll fight. And I found strep throat so we can totally hang out with strep throat at this meet. It was in my underwear drawer, along with everything that ever goes missing. Has anyone ever read that Emily Rodda book? Finders Keepers? I think that is the one where everything that is lost gets transported to another dimension, right? Anyway, that dimension is my underwear drawer. Stop rambling, Tegan.

Ho. Ly. Crap.

I've been nostalgic about that particular book (or possibly the TV series) occasionally for, like, over a year now, and could never remember what it was called. All I could remember was this crazy clock thing, and some kid getting transported to some other dimension for a game show... which wasn't enough to Google for. I suspected it might be Emily Rodda, but I wasn't sure. And now you've reminded me! Thank you!

Must find a library nearby that has this book...

Yay! I am so glad my rambling was useful. Yeah, I've been nostalgic about it too and I was in the same situation; I thought it was Emily Rodda but I was also considering Catherine Jinks. I am glad I have solved the mystery for both of us. :D

Anyway, being as it is 24 hours prior and I'm not in Sydney, doesn't look like I'll make it. Sorry guys. You can blame my landlord who decided this weekend was a great time for an inspection.

I'll arrive in Sydney tomorrow at 6am. Unfortunately I can't see how I'll use the internet once I get there. I'll be in the city from about 3 onwards tmrw and then for most of Saturday. If you're in the city friday evening or saturday lunchtime, and you would like to see a film or go to a pub a geohash or someplace else, my number is [I've taken it down now that it's no longer useful]
