I'll be in Melbourne between the 10th and the 16th of December.

I don't think my parents would be comfortable with a 14 year old going off to meet strange people he met from the tubes.

Pity though :(

Yeah, I have the same issue..except I'm a 17 year old.

I would have sold my soul to go to the Boston meetup.

Actually I wouldn't mind heading down if anyone else wants to go to like.. fuck I donno the museum. I only really know the streets around central Melbourne so I'd get lost if you ask me to go anywhere outside of that.

I wish I'd delved into this thread before September.

Ah well, any more meetups in Sydney, and I'm there.

How about a Brisbane meetup?

How many XKCDers are there out there who live in Brisbane? You probably all go to UQ with me.

pm if so.

Hey.

Are there any other NZer's here on the forums interested in a meetup? Anyone who appreciates this kind of humour is probably someone that I should get to know!

I am in Auckland (not next week though)... so if anyone is interested reply to this post.

Cheers,

Andrew

I was in Wellington... but moved to Canada 5 months ago. There's a couple more NZers around, but I never got around to meeting up with them before I moved here...

I'm in Nelson. So maybe when I get my car and license I will drive around and visit some people, but not for a while yet.

I think all us kiwis are relatively spread out. I'm pretty sure my profile points out that I'm from Wellington... :)

But yeah, if we want to do a New Zealand meetup, that'd be cool, but it'd probably end up being semi-inconvenient for most of us.

I'll be back in Wellington for a bit in December or January-ish?

But I don't think there's really enough of us in the area... and the interislander is expensive :)

I'd be up for a meeting in Sydney in the upcoming school holidays. Maybe a large-scale picnic somewhere?

I MAY be in Sydney in the Summer holidays and MAY be able to go to a meet :P

But seriously, all you Sydney-siders should move to Melbourne. It's so much better here.

This is true. I was discussing this with ZeroSum when he was over, and he agreed. Melbourne > Sydney.

That said, I live in Newcastle, so stuff happening in Sydney I can get to.

wow... i finish my exams on the 18th, and don't have to go back until the 28th...

that said, I will be back working full-time for the holidays (starting monday the 23rd), so for all the school holidays. Thus I will likely not be attending any week-day meetup during work hours at this time. (I'm already taking one week of said holidays off work to go skiing, so I want the money, not missing days).

Actually, pretty much I won't make most things unless it occurs on a Sunday (soccer from 1-5ish on Saturday).

Picnics are good, though.

Ha! My exams finish tomorrow (I should really be studying right now, shouldn't I?)

Picnics are fun. Hanging out at the flugtag last time was fun and picnic-esque (well, not really, unless people sitting on grass = picnic. And we were only on the grass 'cause we got kicked off the heritage listed wall.)

I have an exam in ~4 hours, and I haven't started studying yet (there actually -are- things i should do before i try and do this one :/).

And what is the point of a conveniently placed wall of a suitable height to sit upon if we are not going to be allowed to do so?

Man, that guy was so stupid. If you are going to kick people off this delicate piece of heriatage, you should not be spotted tying your shoe up against it later by the people you kicked off! *grumbles*

I'm up for stuff whenever, though generally speaking weekdays will be better, and Wednesdays are always out. So really, whenever except Wednesdays.

I'm free most days, excepting the 6th. Any ideas for location? The first thing that springs to mind is Hyde Park, as it is easily accessible what with trains and buses nearby.

Anyone have problems with making it Sunday the 13th (Black Sunday?) so I can grace you all with my presence(note: not presents)?

It's a month away, so it should give us enough time to organise what we want to do, and weekends do mean even working folk can make it along.

As for location... Hyde Park is always good. The Botanic Gardens are a good picnic spot, but slightly harder to get to. That said, people made it there last time. Don't really know any other good places in the city (I'm only in there pretty much every day :/)

If we're meeting up in Hyde Park, though, we might want to pick a more specific location. Wandering around a large space looking for people (and people that you've probably not ever met before) is never fun.

I'm happy with pretty much any date, as long as there is advance notice.

But yes, Hyde park sounds good. Just keep off the heritage listed walls.

You know, if they're heritage listed, that probably means they were built to last and there is probably nothing wrong with sitting on them. I mean, really.

Yeah, Hyde Park sounds good. Further to my previous post, I should be able to come, but there are a bunch of birthdays (including mine) around then, so I am in danger of being in the process of partying or of being all partied out.

Well, unless you want to make it the 6th and exclude luna, I will probably have to sit this one out... (or just do it not actually in the school holidays, but the kids might be busy-ish then).

Sunday is the only day I'm free for long over the holidays, and I will be driving to Kalkite on the 20th.
