### How many pencils and how many jars I have?

I have some pencils and some jars
If I put 9 pencils into each jar I will have two jars left over
If I put 6 pencils into each jar I will have three pencils left over

How many pencils and how many jars I have?

Thanks

This is obviously a homework question.

What have you tried to do already? What part of the problem is confusing you?
Unless stated otherwise, I do not care whether a statement, by itself, constitutes a persuasive political argument. I care whether it's true.

Pity you don't have two more jars: you could put a certain number of pencils into each jar, with no pencils left over.

The obvious solution is to eat all the pencils, so you can equally divide them among the jars without needing extra jars.

If you put the two leftover jars into the three leftover pencils, then stick a couple of pencils up your nose, you'll need three more jars to put the same number of pencils into each jar as you had jars. But don't stick the pencils too deep.

Guys this is actually a rather complicated problem.
First of all, notice that after putting 9 pencils in each jar, he still has 2 jars left over. If leftover jars are the ones that do not contain pencils, where did the 18 pencils in those two jars go? Clearly there is a one-way worm hole in each of those two jars that transports the pencils placed inside into two other jars. We are then told something even stranger: If 6 pencils are placed in each jar, there are pencils left over! This means the worm-hole can only transport specific packets of pencils. Pencils can only be teleported in groups of 9.

How many jars does it take to create a worm hole in exactly two of them? What type of pencils change their properties when bundled in groups of 9? I think we need to answer these questions to solve this problem.

If they had 2 more jars, they can put 1 pencil in the first jar, 2 pencils in the second, 3 pencils in the third, etc. and have no pencils or jars left over.

Obviously there are 2 jars and 3 pencils. Putting 6 or 9 pencils into a jar is impossible, because who has that many pencils?
