What's your favorite element? and the one you hate the most?

For the discussion of the sciences. Physics problems, chemistry equations, biology weirdness, it all goes here.

Carbon is awesome because it's so extremely versatile. I also like silicon and germanium because they pretty much define modern-day electronics.

Least favourite... probably radon. It accumulates in poorly ventilated areas, and when you breathe it in, it sticks to the insides of your lungs, emitting alpha particles and slowly poisoning you.

My favourite element has to be
Pt
not because its a precious metal or anything lame like that,
but because of cis-platin and platinum based chemtherapies.
I guess their role in catalytic converters aren't too shabby either :D

My least favourite had to be....
He
Damn you helium bourgeoisie damn element.... you might be a noble gas but you're
nothing to me... too stuck up to bond or anything... enjoy your damn electrons...

So I suppose that you hate Ne even more, because it is less reactive.

Damn straight, and it don't even form a superfluid.

At least argon has the decency to form a compound with hydrogen fluoride (H-Ar-F) at 2 kelvin.

I have a love-hate relationship with cobalt at the moment. On the one hand, it makes compounds of just about every color and they're all so pretty. On the other hand, it's responsible for me spending my spring break writing a lab report. Hmm.

You could live in a sandy place without seeing yourself or any other living/dead organism. You would starve, unless you close your eyes while eating. Alternatively, you may tear your eyes out with an ice scoop.

I dislike antimony, for no particular reason.

...

:(

My favourite is fairly obvious, for random reasons such as it having a name I can imagine a person having, Gunnerkrigg court (which was recommended to me after I signed up to this forum), and I like the semi-metals.

My least favourite is probably Magnese, for the simple fact that I confuse it with Magnesium when I'm reading quickly.

Isn't it manganese? You know, because it's consumed in vast quantities for the production of Japanese comic books?

For a second I thought I had spelled it wrong AGAIN. I just about punched my computer.

I have a few favourites, but the one I feel is my favourite today would be Krypton, because it sounds like Kryptonite.

My least favourite would be lead, due to it's lead poisioning properties.

And the whole Science was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make theory, and test them thoroughly. And they had thought for some, and hypothosis had they for other. 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a Civilization and a Theory, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole universe. And the Lord came down to see the civilization and the Theory, which the children built. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do; and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. And then the lord saw their Theory, and their language, and the Lord saw Maganese, and thus did the lord utter "Manganese? Oh fuck that's a dumb name. Screw it, restart."

I'm not sure if you're serious or not. If that was offensive (somehow) then I apologise.

I love: Lithium, it may sound stupid but when growing up you are taught metals are heavy, air is not. By this logic (ignoring density) Lithium is like a magic element!

I hate: Argon, to fucking pretentious.

I like... Either Iridium, Tungsten, or Carbon the most. All of them are insanely tough and hard to melt. One gram of plasma from any would spark a nuclear fusion reaction (random guess, prob. true from the heat perspective)

I hate... Manganese. Everyone in my class who has any experience on the interwebs outside of gaming (hence, semi-intelligent conversation) immediately thinks of porn. Which is annoying.

I love Ag. Seriously, silver is such fun from a metalworking view. Relativity cheap, at least when compared to gold/palladium(fun as well)/platinum, but most definitely a not base metal, soft enough to enjoy working with (Yes, steel, I'm looking at you!) but hard enough for everyday use, lots of interesting alloys, I could go on for ages...silver iodide
Plus, silver salts are fun to play with.
CH3NO2 sensitised via AgI is amazing, but please don't try it, touch-sensitive high explosives equivalent to ~130% TNT by weight are not to be taken lightly. Seriously, I didn't say anything. Please don't try it.

As for dislike (how can I hate an element?), elements 112 and up have no appeal for me. Although thallium isn't very cool either.

Why? Is there some weird fetish I'm missing? Or is it light transition metals turn people on, like titanium? Oh wait, I just saw definition #3 in urban dictionary, and... I can't un-think the mental image. I hate you.
