Hey everyone, this is AJ.

I'm male, and am currently residing in the United States. I've been lurking on the fora for quite some time now, but finally decided to join. Seeing as how everyone else is posting their interests, I suppose that I should follow suit.

Interests:
Sleeping
Eating
Spending time with my girl :D
Playing CS:S
Reading manga
Playing the trumpet
And of course, reading XKCD :P

Hey guys! I'm a 19 year old female from Adelaide, Australia where its currently about 45 degrees celsius, ack. I'm going into my third year of a Bachelor of Comp. Sci (Soft Eng) at Adelaide Uni, and outside of that I'm a checkout chick :). I've been lurking for a while and decided today, since I can't bear the thought of venturing outside, to join in the fun. Some of my interests/activities include playing the drums and cross stitch XD. I've been playing drums for about 6 years and I'm in the band at my church, and some of my cross stitch can be found on the spritestitch website's forum, which you should definitely check out - those guys stitch awesomely :D.
Looking forward to having a great time talking with you guys :).

I've been lurking around here for a while now, so I thought I'd introduce myself.

25-ish, student, from Croatia (a cookie to anyone who knows which neighborhood that's in, from the top of their head). Interests include XKCD (duh!) and all related, science (especially the evil flavor), programing and IT in general, all kinds of SF...

Is there anyone from or around Croatia on these ... fora here?
And speaking of "fora", I must say here is the only place I've seen it used. I didn't even know the word existed before. Dictionary.com says both "fora" and "forums" may be used and Wiktionary further explains that "The English plural forums is preferred to the Latin plural fora in normal English usage". So, how come it's used so much?

And there's probably other croatians around. It's a big forum.

Hey, people. I am obviously new.

My a/s/l won't tell you much. I like talking about aardvark, astrophysics, comics/cartoons/anime, car crashes, compulsive alphabetizing, European things, HOUSE M.D., interwebs, lunar astrology, pr0n, psychology, public disturbance, sci-fi, things that go "piew! piew!," various forms of OCD, weird music, and zim.

I don't like doing PC troubleshooting, but get paid for it well. I'm trying to acquire some art skills worth showing off.

Well I mostly play concert music that our band director deems to be good. Aside from that, I did a single season of marching band, which was fun, and I play through a lot of duets with my current tutor. I'm still working on learning how to properly play jazz so that I can try out for the jazz band here at my new school next year.

Spoiler:
Speaking of which, I really dislike the band program here at my new school. I moved just before the end of the second semester, so I can't try out for any ensembles, since they've all been finalized ages ago

Let's see, it was part of Yugoslavia before the civil war, so it's in South-Eastern Europe on the Balkan. There is the language "Serbo-Croatic" (some say it's two languages), so it most likely has a common border with Serbia. I know people from Germany who go there for vacation by car (one even goes by the nick "Kroatienfan", she loves it so much), so it's probably one of the more Northern ex-Yugoslavian countries, otherwise it would be too far. However, it can't be the most Northern one, there is Slowenia, which is already part of the EU, while Kroatia isn't - thus Kroatia probably does not border Italy or Austria, while it's not too far from them, it would have to border Hungary. I think it must have a long coast, because I know someone who was sailing there with the girl scouts, and because it would otherwise not be such a good target for vacations. But I am not sure what other countries it borders exactly ... maybe Bosnia-Herzegowina or maybe Montenegro or maybe it goes down to Albania? Does it come near Kosovo? Can't go down to Greece, though. And in the North and East, I am not sure if it touches Bulgaria or Romania maybe.

As for our borders, there are Slovenia and Hungary to the north, Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the east, and Montenegro to the far southeast. Our Southern and western flanks border the Adriatic Sea, and it also shares a sea border with Italy in the Gulf of Trieste.

Morning all, or evening, or afternoon, or whatever it is in your respective timezones.

Obviously new, hence posting in this thread. Been reading the comics for ages but only recently lurked round the forums. From the not so jolly old UK, though tbh thats mainly cause its cold and wet right now and i hate that. Currently working as an IT Tech at a local school which means i only work till 3 in the afternoon and get every weekend off, not to mention the summer and christmas breaks which is a pretty awesome set up. Did a couple years of college after school and got a BTEC and CCNA 1 and 2 though ill admit i feel very inferior to most IT proffesionals, maybe there was a mix up with my results or something.

Main interests at the moment are gaming, mostly WoW, i know i know, its an addiction i tell ya, online community stuff like IRC and forums and of course reading web comics, such as the fantastic XKCD of course. Did a bit of programming in my course, though in honesty i was a bit shakey on it towards the end and im looking to start getting into that again, hoping to someday do games programming or design like i always dreamed as a kid. I do like my job now but feels a bit like basic grunt work (no offence meant towards any IT Technicians, its mainly just this job in particular) and id like to do something more, creative, with IT like some kind of programming. Also in my attempts to become more nerdy (im just not nerdy enough yet i tells ya) might be starting to get into D&D or some other RP table top game since someone i work with mentioned that he played with some friends and they were looking for another player. Not done much of it before so looking forward to that, hopefully wont be too terribad at it. Will also mean i might actually go out once in a while which i presume is a good thing, or at least so im told.

Anyway, this kinda turned into a wall of text so apologies and look forward to talking with you all

Oh, I can totally do that too.

When I get an XLR-to-jack cable, I am recording a cover of either Left Behind by Slipknot, Redneck by Lamb of God or something. Have not decided. Vocals and guitar. Gotta love it.

MY TITLE IS THERE FOR A REASON.

It's not like I traded pictures of my sister to an incredible handsome, nice smelling man whom I shall not name for said title. What? *Cough*

Hello people.

I'm 17 years old and I live in Sweden. I am currently in high school, mostly enjoying the subjects maths, physics, chemistry and programming. My main hobby would be fencing. I've been lurking the boards for a while but has now realised that there have been a couple of cases where I would like to reply to topics.

Hey all, my name is Josh, I'm 23, and I just graduated from college in the US.

I'm a Christian, although I apologize for the stupid stuff most other American Christians do. I also love animals and nature, have studied karate, collect swords and knives, and think raptors would make great pets. *ducks thrown objects from forum inhabitants*

As my name suggests, I believe Summer Glau to be one of the best actresses currently around, if not ever.

As an aside note, I have found that I actually have already done most of the things that xkcd has in the "my hobby" comic strips. Hehe.

Hehe.
Hello to you to good sir. And may I say, as an aethiest, that I, also, apologise for most of the American AND British aethiests say ("Science has proven there is no god", "Everyone who believes in god is an idiot", etc., etc. It hasn't and they're not.) our "faith" (albeit, lack of one) has as many twats as the next one.

Hi, I've been registered for a while, but I'm not sure whether I ever posted here.

I'm 19, from Austria and studying medicine at the moment. I'm also a volunteer EMT working for the Red Cross and spend most of my time either at university or on duty. Apart from that I like to listen to quite a variety of music, especially calssical and baroque music (Bach, Mozart, Schumann, Schubert etc.), Jazz and world music. I'm also a bit of a gamer, but unfortunately haven't ever had the chance to get into P&P RPGs.

@Torvaun: Awesome. I'm actually still surprised that no-one had picked this name.

@OBrien: And it's nice to meet you, too. Also, I suspect that such discussions about religion where people disagree with each other and get rather rude tend to be amplified on the Blogoshpere. It's nice though when folks can disagree and still be civil.

@Monika: When I can get to my desktop, you betcha! A brief list of them is: A wakizashi (Japanese short sword), a generic short sword I picked up at a Ren Fair, a gladius, and a rapier.

@Thesaurus: If that was directed at me, I apologize but I don't get the reference. If it wasn't, then nevermind ;)

Now, all I have to do is finish setting up my profile. Didn't have time to earlier.

Thanks for the warm welcome, all.
