Hail, all!

I suppose I should introduce myself before delving into the Fora (but, then again, why else would I be posting here?).

Originally, I was introduced to xkcd by a good friend of mine last year (or, as I recall it, somewhere in the early 600's) and I haven't stopped reading since. I've been lurking for a good while now, and considered signing up the next step.

Besides that, I'm not sure how much there is to say. I'm almost sixteen, in high school somewhere in the southern United States. I enjoy a(n) (un)healthy dose of video games, though I do enjoy writing and reading when I can actually get my lazy ass to it.

Looking forward to adding to the Fora (the quality of the content, however, remains to be seen)!

Greetings and salutations, I go by the name Aldrich Peregryn Lucas*.

Spoiler:
Here follow lots of really boring, uninteresting stuff that will no doubt make you go in a temporary state of relatively suspended sensory and motory activity which will most likely be characterised by partial, if not total, unconsciousness. See, even that was boring to read. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Age of fourteen, turning fifteen in a few days, on the fifth death anniversary of Pope John Paul II in fact / Genetically been determined to be of the male gender / Sydney, NSW, Australia, Southern Hemisphere, Planet Earth, Inner Planets, Solar System, Orion Arm, Milky Way, Local Cluster, Local Supercluster, Universe. I think. Correct me if I'm wrong. I am of half-Filipino (and bits of Spanish [most likely, me being Filipino and all]) and half Australian (Irish/Scottish) descent.

Interests include, but are not limited to:
- Classical music (gee, what a weird teen he is) and in fact music in general (play clarinet, bass clarinet and piano)
- Reading (heaps of genres)
- Philosophy
- Physics (and maths, I suppose)
- Religion (Baptist here)
- Geography/Travelling (been to 24 countries and recently topped a state-wide geography competition [i no rite, bragging and all, what a typical teen] :p )

Favourite books include, but are not limited to:
- Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien
- Pillars of the Earth/World Without End by Ken Follett
- Capricornia by Xavier Herbert
- The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay
- Anything written by Douglas Adams

Favourite game is Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time but I'm not known for being a huge gaming fan and play Tetris to pass the time.

And, I've been lurking here for eons.

*Naturally, a pseudonym. :o Which is kinda weird, because I just gave you my birthday, but . . . yeah.
In short, I'm Aldrich, ~15//Australia.

Greetings and Salutations,

I'm 33 years old, a longtime reader, occasional forum lurker, and earn a meager living as a humanitarian aid worker.

I'm normally based in Glasgow, Scotland, but hail from Jakarta, Indonesia after being born in London, England and work all around the world. Subsequently, I have a very weird accent.

Looking forward to interesting conversations here ...

Ok spoiler alert: I have actually been posting here sporadically for quite some time, I did not, however, know about this thread, since I only started reading General recently.

Anyway here we go:

I am 15(nearly 16), and am high school student in the USA, I plan to work an an astronautical engineer and am currently a Project Lead the Way student.
Uh..what else? Let's see, I am a huge video gamer player, I love books, particularly sci-fi and fantasy, and I am in my schools table-top role playing club which was founded by some friends and myself.
I play the violin terribly (well maybe not as bad as I make it sound, I managed a decent solo last concert, amazing that it wasn't taken from me the second we first played it) and somehow have become section leader of the second violins in my schools lower orchestra(based on skill), so I am the best of the worst.
...this is getting long so I'll condense the rest...
I have no patience for fools, found the comic through a few times it was linked on World of Warcraft forums, and I love cheese, a lot.
Also, I love homestarrunner, a bit too much i think.

That's enough i guess.
Looking forward to many a delightful discussion here.

Kinda late posting in the intro thread, first found xkcd a couple of years ago (it was popular at uni) and have been posting here for about nearly 2 months.

I'm 26, lifelong Londoner, ESFP, PhD in macroeconomics (paid my way through uni by doing NSFW things), currently work variously as a dancer, aerobics instructor, and monetary policy analyst.

Open poly in a triad with my gf Ali (boho trustafarian curator/model/artist) and bf Michael (city boy from sarf of the river) plus several secondary partners, spent most of my mid-late teens in counselling for compulsive sexual behaviour, counselling was useless, was "cured" when I met Ali during my first year at uni, sat my A level further maths exam whilst coming down off something naughty (got an A).

Live in Bloomsbury with Michael & Ali, used to be kinda political (varied between Labour and the Lib Dems) now apathetic (seen a bit of how it works on the inside and turned off by it & by (some of) the people), I work out every day (gym in the basement, I dance 2 or 3 nights a w.eek, 3 or 4 aerobics classes a w.eek), disco b.unny (clubbing 3 or 4 nights a w.eek (but not tonight *mope*)).

Currently flufull.

Hi. My name is Crosby and I am ashamed. I have been a lurker. I have been watching your community. I have been reading the comics and reading your comments. I have been on your threads. I have not spoken. I am ashamed. I am about to change. I am going to say something. I even secretly wrote a paper about the XKCD forum community. I got a B+. It was an average paper. You are an above average community. I want to be part of your community.

I know that you do not know me. I know that I am a stranger to your forum. I know that it is rude to ask for a favor but....

…I am starting my own vlog/video blog/youTube channel/ thingy. I humbly ask you guys to please check it out. My theme/focus/topic/thingy is life as 20 year old. Today is my birthday! Happy Birthday to me! I want to record what life as a 20 year old male.

I would gladly appreciate any feedback/subscriptions/comments. I would REALLY appreciate it if you spread the word of my vlog. Thank you so much.

The XKCD has a great community and I want to steal that.

Hello. This is my second post now, after my comment on the April Fools stuff.

Anyway, I'm a student at Carnegie Mellon University (and a native-born Pittsburgher). Choosing a major has been a bumpy ride, but I think I'm gonna settle on Statistics if next Fall goes well. At first, I had no idea what I was going to do. Then, I was going to do computer science, but it turns out that I'm a programmer, not a computer scientist (writing code is fun; doing the math to find the theoretical running time of the algorithm is not). I suppose that makes me a computer hobbyist or enthusiast. Now, it's Statistics, because it makes it look like it'll be easy enough for me to get a degree now, and worry about what to do with it later. Thank you, CMU 15-211, for destroying everything most of what I thought I was less than halfway through Fall '09!

Also, lots of video games (mainly Touhou Project and Pokemon).

Been considering registering here for a while. The massive April Fools awesomeness finally convinced me. I'll probably mainly stick to the Individual Comic Threads, but I will definitely look through other boards for things to do, too.

So yeah, um...see yinz around, I guess.

So hello!

Name is Carl, 20, and I live in Sweden where I don't really do anything at the moment. I'm drawing up some clever plans though, one could say.

Let's see...
I recently discovered the effectiveness of RSS several years too late. I started toying around with Python last month and am currently working a part-time job as a PHP-programmer. Although luckily the programming is very light as I'm barely even a novice. Doing stuff for money is always nice though, so I can't complain.

I love summarizing a person on less than a fifth of a page. It's splendid.

Welcome to the fora Carl!

PHP is pretty fun stuff; I'm using it to make a website for my choir at the moment.
I'm starting to think we might finally be able to have an xkcd meet-up in Stockholm if more swedes in the area keep joining the fora :)

Hi.

It's thefiddler, whom a lot of you might know as Cait or Caitlin.

I'm back-ish, and it's been almost an entire year now, so.

I should probably reintroduce myself to the people that don't know who I am.

But, uh, I don't know what to say. So, um, hi.

Thanks,

I'm totally up for that. Would be fun.

For a beginner PHP sure is fun. Advancing from using only a mark-up language to generating pages on-the-fly is really beneficial for one's creativity. :D
(and incidentally it leads to a lot of silly experiments like watermarking a visitor's IP-address in every picture on a website - I plead guilty)

Hello all,
I go by shimmy, i am in my early twenties and I live the usa. So I guess I should go on about myself now, well where to begin.
Well damn I will start with what I do for a living, oh wait I don't do anything, god damnit. Well I hope that changes soon enough.
My interests and hobbies are the following,
-Reading, really anything that is good.
-Mathematics, love anything in this field and will eat up any books or info I can get on it.
-Physics, love it just as much as mathematics.
-Computers, programming, to just setting up server and playing around with them. On the programming front, python, java and some assembly(learning that now).
-Cooking, I love Japanese cuisine, curry, sushi, yaki-soba, and perfecting an actually good tokyo ramen.
-Video games, Mostly PC games, RTS company of heroes, Dawn of war 2; RPGs Baldur's gate 1&2, Arcanum, Torment planescape, and Theif 1&2, Deus Ex.

Well that is all I have to say about myself right now, so meh.

uh . . . hi
i'm a 19 year old male aeronautical engineering student at ohio state university. the name came from my gmail account which in turn was from a random number generator. i've been too lazy to come up with a better name since.
lets see . . . more about me. i've been lurking for a couple of months. an engineering ta recommended xkcd to us to help us with our programming and i got addicted. never really been interested in joining a forum, so this is my first ever post sadly enough. i play in the band and listen to most types of music. no rap and mostly no country unless my grandfather has trapped me in his van. i read voraciously, currently "working" on crime and punishment. thats really it. i have a boring life and am sort of planning on taking it out on you guys. anyways thats me. yay.

Hello,
I've been a lurker on these boards for a long time now, and I finally decided to join.
I like science, and I'm currently studying biomedical sciences (you know, when I'm not wasting my time on the internet).
English isn't my first language, so please forgive any mistakes in this or future posts.

I guess that's about it for now. So umm, hi!

Hi all, just joined the forum having been reading the comic religiously for quite a while now; it's awesome.

I'm 21, English and currently studying for my MSc in Bioinformatics (well, Medical Informatics technically, but it's essentially the same). Haven't had the chance to check out the forum much, as this seemed as good a place as any to start, but I'm sure I'll see you all around here somewhere else!

A bit of a lurker in the forum for the past week or so, and an avid fan of the comic.

I'm a mechanically minded geek [particularly fond of examining how things work, at imagining the blueprints in my head], who enjoys video games, pointless introspective thought without provocation.

Oh, and in High School my friends insisted that out of everyone they knew I was most likely to attempt global domination.

Honestly is unfounded since I'm far to honest for politics

It goes back to the days when I first joined the internet on a forum that used to run RPs. The name comes from a mage character I had. How I came up with his name was a simple additin of the letter 'Z' to the word 'ion'.

Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh. I'm a geek.

Oh hi there XKCD intro thread, I'm will. I've been reading the comics for about a year now and decided to check out the forums. I was shown the comic by a friend and have been addicted ever since. I like to take things apart and fiddle with them. Also at least one a week I attempt to ignite things with my mind.
