I'm also mindy. Ignore that other mindy, I don't know what I'm talking about.

Hi Mindy(/ies)!

(Are you all a catfish person, or are perhaps some of you a dogfish person instead? Enquiring minds1 want to know.)

1 All of them mine, as far as I am aware.

By IP address, I assume.

Still, variable IP addresses are a thing, so this method wouldn't always work.

There's one very obvious way (ninjaed!), but several others that an admin might easily have access to. Though if I was an admin1, I deliberately wouldn't list them as that'd just directly signpost the exploits that can't be detected. Better that everybody is left thinking that their random stumblings are still possibly detectable and tbus not be so much of a nuisance as to be worthy of earning actual reprisals for their behaviour.

So I don't think you'll get an answer to that one. And I'm not inclined to break too much of the mystique myself. Respect The Mods! ;)

It wouldn't always work, but it's a quick first check. Goat entrails take a bit longer but are apparently also reliable.

ST's baby goats are really cute, though, so I hope he doesn't use that method too often.

The majority of your posts come from a handful of IPs.

A selection of mindy's posts come from the same IPs.

Also, good lord, what do you people think I'm doing to the goat? I put them back! That's why it's so hard on the goat.

Hi.
This is the nicest internet forum which uses the default phpBB3 theme I've seen so far.

I'm 19 years old, so just about to start a university course. I love IT and physics (thus I'm obliged to like maths even a little bit), history, Nintendo, having no time for fun (because it means I do something meaningful) etc. I like discussion and at the same time I like lurking the forums.

BTW, trains are awesome.

Welcome train person!

Is avatars on the right really the default? I thought all other phpBB forums have them on the left.

Looked around. Designated prosilver (with avatars on the right) as default. Saw one method to shift avatars left in prosilver. Involves altering lines in a .css file.
Changes its form depending on the observer.

Hey everyone. Time that I introduced myself properly. I go by Alone, Heury, Huer, HA (if you feel like laughing). He/him/his

I am very smart. You can tell by the fact that English is my first and second language. I also speak spansh fluently and Kichwa influently (which I learned when living in a Kichwa community for 6 months in Ecuador). I also know how to grow corn from start to finish as the corn growing season is 6 months long. As such, I've only grown corn once, but it was a lot of corn.

I studied mathematics at a University where I fell in and out of love multiple times with proofs. My first year I took a Black History class as well in which I got my only C.

The transmission in my car recently went out so my main source of transportation currently is my pink razor scooter I found at a garage sale for $5.

I enjoy Pokemon, ping pong, ultimate frisbee, attempting 360s on my pink scooter, long distance scooter racing, shooting clay pigeons painted blue, playing/creating board games, fly fishing, making music.

I run a business in which I sit in the shade while paying workers to paint houses for me. I also get paid 10 hours a week to play piano, and I am the organist for my church congregation (but I don't get paid for that)
I am a blood moon.

You could make a window in the goat's side. That would save significant effort and healing time for the goat.

We were debating installing a zipper. I don't think the window will work as the mechanism for foretelling does involve "spilling" and you can't spill through a window.

Well, not without really trying.

Well, not without really trying.

You could install a plastic bag to allow spilling without risk of infection.

Hi.
I'm an 18 (almost 19) year old guy from Austin.
I'm going to go off to college next year.

I enjoy observing the night sky (especially sketching the sky through my telescope!), gardening, rock climbing, backpacking, the outdoors, all the sciences (especially chemistry though), linguistics, history, playing DF and KSP, writing stuff in python, and other stuff that I don't remember at the moment.

I'm excited to join here as I've been reading xkcd on and off for several years now.

It is Dwarf Fortress and Kerbal Space Program.

My telescope is just a 10" dobsonian, so not like either of those. I finished observing the Virgo Cluster Messier objects last night, so that's cool.

Now that I think of it, I have no idea how I found out about this place... It's kind of a mystery.

Hypothesis: Clicking the "Forums" link switches people's consciousness between two parallel dimensions where everything is the same, except one has the link and the other (our own) doesn't have the link. Upon clicking it, people move here (their consciousness from this dimension is in a practically identical universe so they don't know the difference), and get to the forum, but then can't find the forum link anymore.

It's just a theory, but then so is gravity and evolution so it must be true.

I seem to remember a link on the main xkcd page.

Maybe Randall messes with us by seeing if we have cookies from the forum, and if we do, he removes the link for us!

The link was there until What If became a thing, I believe. Although personally I would remove the link to the blog (which updates maybe once or twice a year and has a notification on the main page anyway) and replace that with the forums link.

You just reminded me how I found this place.

I started reading xkcd like a week before what if was a thing. I saw the link to the forum, clicked it, and was like "that's cool". Fast forward until about a month ago. I remember there being a link to a forum, but can't find it, so I google it and come here. I have registration issues, so I lurk for a month. I get it to work and post in this thread.

Indeed. And, yet, how does anyone ever know who one is? One of those great philosophical questions of all ages.

But posting here is a good start on the road, I suspect. Greetings, person-with-a-higher-post-count-than-me.
