Hello there people of the blagoblag! I'm a swedish guy who accidentally stumbled over xkcd a couple of months ago (I found the link on another webcomic, but i have no idea how i found that comic).

For some reason xkcd has caused me to, whenever i see a tall buiding, try to find a way to get to the roof and just look at the view.

Sometimes I participate in a game called deathgame which basically is a bunch of people killing eachother with bananas, apples and monkeys and stuff like that. My favourite book is the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and I enjoy cooking.

Oh right, I'm 18 years old and i want to study medicin.

Joy of Cooking was far less of an achievement than Thyme Cube discovery, for I have Cubed the Spice, with 4 simultaneous flavor types in 1 plant of Earth.

I guess I'll do another one of these as well, with a more directly descriptive tack than the one which went down with the S.S. Intro Thread II.

Salutations, Earthlings! I am currently Ketzerei on the internets, but am known primarily as Charles in meatspace. I'm 18 and currently a student at Cornell University, where I've been for all of a week so far. I plan to study absolutely everything, because learning is fun!

I'm no longer as crazy as I was up until about a year ago, but I still have about a zillion minor neuroses. I'll tell you all about them some time when it wouldn't be horrendously off-topic.

In my copious free time (Tom Lehrer reference, what), I enjoy playing video games, watching anime (and the very rare real-people show), and doing whatever my friends are doing. It makes very little difference what that is, as long as it's not harmful; I made up my mind a while ago to try to enjoy absolutely everything.

And I'll leave it at that. After all, no one who has this post as their only information about me would care about any of this stuff at all. I'll leave the good stuff for a dramatic reveal in some other thread.

I draw a semi-updated quasi-webcomic which is done in one of two styles depending on how lazy I am feeling at the moment and if my Wacom tablet and photoshop actually manage to work together.

There's an oboe-blog "scene" ?

How many blogs counts as a "scene" nowadays?

Greetings!
Long time reader/lurker, relatively new poster etc.
I posted in the last thread but as (i) it's gone AWOL, and (ii) two months have passed since my last (few) posts, I'll do it again. So there.

I spend half of my time in the fine city of Norwich, England- famous for Delia Smith, inbreeding, a history of radical politics, Alan Partridge and little else besides.
I also study maths (of the purer variety) at Bristol Univeristy and can regularly be seen whizzing down hills on my skateboard, knocking little old grannies to the floor as I go.

"Male", "long-haired hippy", "20 years of age" and "drummer" may also be good phrases to use at this point.
Eitherwhetherwhichways, I'll try to contribute more from now on and not fade into obscurity.
Is this a wok that you've shoved down my throat, or are you just pleased to see me?

I do lots of stuff, keep odd hours, and I no longer have to feel guilty about driving on motorways.

Well, maybe it's not a "scene" per se. We've got a few fora, and two or three dozen blogs which are fairly interactive with one another. The classical music blogs of the world are possibly more of a scene, but that didn't sound as good.

And I'm relatively unnoticed by them.

I was going to post in the intro thread for my first post, but it was deleted. So anyway, I found this site via Digg, read through all of the comics and found that I have a similar sense of humor.

I'm 16, male, from Virginia. I enjoy traveling, video games, math, and of course, good food.

Right now I'm losing all of my free-time to school-related things even though school doesn't start for over a week. Too bad. :(

Aha! When I first saw the "post a greeting" rule, I somehow read that there was an intro subforum, and was confused. Eh.

Regardless, I am a 21-year-old male, living in the greater Boston area; I will miss the September Meetup, however, as by then I will have returned to my small liberal arts college in Vermont, where I focus in "artificial life" because noone there really understands what the term means (I take what classes I want, and they're just happy to have a science student.)

...Its almost depressing to see so much of myself portrayed in a single, run-on sentence :? .

My name is dansez dansez dansez (hmm, DANSEZ! DANSEZ! DANSEZ! would be more accurate, though). Its pronounced "dawnssay" for all the non-Francophones.

I'm 16.

Is your name a song? Perhaps one done by the Prototypes? Or is it just a declaration of your love of dance and the French? :)

It comes from a song.

My French teacher played bad French music to enrich our learning experience, like all language teachers do. One song she played was called "Le Bal Masqué," which I believe was by a groupe called La Compangie Créole.

The chorus went something like this:
Le Bal Masqué
Ohé ohé Ohé ohé ohé
Le Bal Masqué
Dansez dansez dansez dansez dansez

I'm probably a way off, but that's the general idea. It was just so emphatic, it got me pumped for learning la langue d'amour every time. :)

I'll be straight up, as no doubt the genius of those who lurk about these forums will uncover me in seconds anyhow... but this is a very difficult thing to admit to. I'm... I'm not a nerd.
Please don't beat me up.
I'm a wanna-be nerd. I don't speak computer-languages, I'm not mathematical, and I never even got around to learning chess. I was introduced to the xkcd web comic by a computer-nerdy geophysicist, and I love it.

So who am I? I'm a 3rd year geology student from New Zealand. Started off majoring in marine-bio but, well, geology had so many more field-trips, keg nights, friendliness, and an end of year dinner. Plus I was rather worried that with my lack of chemistry, my future in bio would consist of counting animals. Funnily enough, I'm now interested in geochemistry, hoping to do a masters project on volcanic geochem. I love tramping, languages (esp Spanish), music, science, literature, gardening, family & friends.... actually what defines a nerd? Would re-writing geochemistry notes in Spanish be considered nerdy? Please say yes! What about spending extra time in the lab just for the love of it?

Which university are you at? I'm just finishing up my physics masters at Victoria at the moment.

Also, if you've gone on geology field-trips from Victoria, there's a small chance that you've gone on one of the same trips as my old flatmate :)

I'm 27 years old male geek with a B.Sc. degree in Computer Sciences. I live in Jerusalem, Israel, my interests include computer games, reading, webcomics, bughouse chess, magic the gathering and so on. I got a job and all, but honestly I'm just a kid with adult's resources.

Hello. Long time lurker who has never really posted on a forum before. I just never really bothered before but, I figure things should be interesting here.

I am a female geek, 22, anthropology major (and I defend the fact that a social science is still a science) who is also very into computers, gaming, books, and anime. I am married to an electrical engineering major who probably won't have enough time to join the forum, although he loves the comic.

Yep, that's pretty much it...You can call me Hyas if you wish to shorten my name.

Hello all. My name is Dan and I am a junior physics and math major. I discovered xkcd when some of my friends showed me it, and I love every bit for our shared inherant nerdiness. Ive been reading the comic for about 6 months now but just recently made an account on the forums. Hope to get to know you all. So far Ive seen some very interesting individuals.
