FT: I need to read the book of the aforementioned movie that seems to have crapped on the book.

I didn't know about the book part, but you can add "watch the original movie" to that list. Oh, and by the way: "klatoo berada nickto" that's all I will say.

I just presumed that it was a book before. Thats generally where bastardised movies come from.

It would appear that insomnia (and yes, I believe I can call it that now.) wears away at any normality might have had. I no longer have a sleep schedule, and it usually takes me a good ten seconds after waking up to work out whether it's day or night.

Klaatu was his name.
barada nikto was the rest of the phrase.

There is no book.

The movie was about an alien civilization that sends a representative to Earth to assess the situation and determine if Humans posed a threat to them. Humans had nukes and seemed more than happy to blow the shit out of each other, meaning that if they got to space (which it looked like they would do), they'd likely be more than happy to blow the shit out of the alien civilization. Klaatu wanted to get to know people - turned out to generally *like* most people, even though one of the first things to happen to him as he got off his ship was to be shot. (He got better.) The whole message he was basically trying to get across was "Look, I like you people. You seem alright to me... but really, you've got to cut this whole war thing out. Or.. really, I hate to say it... the rest of the Adults in the Universe.. we don't really like that. And if you're going to try that shit on us, well... we've seen it before, we'll see it again, and we don't like it, but yeah.. we'll scour your planet before you can blink. Yeah, you can say that is a threat. Peace through superior firepower, as I believe you like to say. So.. your call. Get along or we're popping your planet. Peace, I'm out." *leaves*

Basically - a Cold War film with an anti-war message.

The remake is.. I have no idea. Something about the alien civlization being pissed off that humans are fucking up their planet and causing it to be uninhabitable. Which leads me to think that the alien civlization would merely think "...so what's the problem? We wait a few centuries, go in, clean up the place once they're all dead, and we've got a new summer planet. What's the fuss?"

Klaatu barada nikto, dude.

Bleh. My mouse has been spazzing out lately. The only fix I know of is to smack it around a lot. Doing this has made the right button extremely sensitive, so I keep clicking it by accident, especially almost every time I try to left-click. Grr. And mice are so damned expensive. :(

While FLCL is pretty freakish, I don't think you can beat bobobo bobo bobobo for pure mind-breaking weirdness. I have only ever seen the first episode of that show, but that alone was enough weirdness to last a week.

After the last episode of the first season Ash developed autism. All of the new pokemon are just projections of his own psychosis into his mental world. This is also why he never ages. The random new gym battles exist because Ash has a deeply ingrained need to work his way up, but in real life he never made it to the top, and so he cannot imagine what it would be like.

The way I heard it, he was brain damaged when he crashed his bike in Viridian Forest and went into a coma. That's why that first Pokemon battle was so much harder than all the ones that came after it, that's why every city has an Officer Jenny and a Nurse Joy, that's why his Pikachu can effectively use electric attacks on ground pokemon that ought to be immune.

In some of the early game there were reported glitches of the ground type immunity failing. I once had level 25 pikachu ko a level 40 gravaler in one hit with a thundershock. Dont ask me how, I have no idea. All I know is that shortly after, all my save-data dissapeared. Needless to say I was pissed.

On an unrelated note, I've been looking for a full length leather jacket, but this has posed problems. I have been offered an alternative; a full length dryzabone. Its dark brown. Reckon its viable? Or should I not be seen dead in it? (I dont have pics, so just an interpretation of what I've said'll be fine).

As I was waiting for my valiant commencement back into the fora yesterday, I spent some quality time with TV Tropes. A lot of quality time. I very well may have doubled the number of bookmarks I hold.

Also, putting chocolate on this peanut butter and jelly sandwich wasn't as good an idea as I had hoped it would be.

Finally, I had a friend start playing Pokemon Emerald over my absence. Three separate (adjacent) weeks, three separate (extensive) conversations about Pokemon, both here and in the meat-o-sphere. I seriously don't want to start playing that shit again. Stop it.

That's where that's from!

I knew I had heard that somewhere, but I just made up what I wrote.

What is a life, and where can I get one?
