I just heard one of the loudest, angriest peels of thunder i've heard in years, right outside my house as I'm sitting at the computer. It shook all the windows in the house and couldn't have been too far away. :D

Conversation with my mother this weekend:

Her: "I'm going to have some healthy tuna for lunch."
Me: "It doesn't look very healthy to me."
"What makes you say that?"
"It's dead."
"Ah, but it was very healthy before it died."
"I think we've just found what's going on your tombstone."
Please note that despite the lovely avatar Sungura gave me, I am not a medical doctor.

Possibly my proudest moment on the fora.

Does anybody know where my essay about Othello has gone?
I have a paper copy but not the file on my computer.
This means that to make relevant changes I will have to retype the whole thing out and make my changes as I go.
Fuck.

I hate when that happens. You didn't save it to a USB, or email it anywhere as an attachment?

Oh, Othello. So many memories. Mainly of one girl reading out Iago in a plotting-villain type voice, and constantly mispronouncing words. She was awesome.

Quick question. Wearing a batman t shirt to a batman themed murder mystery pub crawl - too fanboyish? I worry far too much about what to wear to these things...

That is awesome! Wanting gravy is going to depend on the type of gravy, but I very much want on the gravy train!

I don't think you have to worry about too fanboyish until you have a Batman-themed t-shirt, cape, mask, utility belt, underwear, and hum the theme song all night long.

And hey, this thread almost has 44444 posts! Soon, it will once again be time to argue about whether "special" numbers are more "interesting" than "others."

I think so. 44444 isn't all that interesting, though. It's only significant because it looks cool in base 10. Incidentally, isn't it interesting how much of our lives is based on the fact that we have 10 things hanging off our hands (fingers isn't quite accurate, but digits is ambiguous here)? Imagine if we only had 8. We would probably use base 8 numbers. Which would do away with all that Gibibyte confusion. Does 10 really have any significance except for being the number of things we have on our hands? None that I can think of. Certainly not as elegant as being 2^3.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Babylonians used the 3 knuckles on your 4 fingers of one hand to count is base 12, and this accounts for our 12 months. However, I can't find a reference...
