You're buying sticks? They're just outside on the ground around here.

You. Get off the top of my page!

Also, they're more like metal sticks . . . or rods . . . that collapse . . . and are hinged together.

In other words, I'm tripod shopping. And they're freaking expensive!

That would be awesome, but personally, I'm more worried about bodily harm. I currently use an electric razor, and so am at no risk at all when it comes to shaving, which is something I'm alright with.

I reccomend this. Or if you want to shave a really dangerous way, break a safety razor and use a single blade held in your fingers.

What, a cut-throat? Why in the name of all that's holy would you want to? How do you think they got the name? I shave every day with a bog-standard safety razor and I have yet to accidentally cut off any of my anatomical features.

*is terrified just thinking about the really dangerous way*

I also recommend safety razors. I find I get a much closer shave and that, with practice, it can be as fast as using an electric razor.

Agreed on the safety razor. Much better shave then I ever got with an electric (although I'll admit to comparing a somewhat below average to a somewhat above average safety razor), and not much slower, either.

FT: This feels like something that would be a legitimate use of the Boys' Thread, but I don't think shaving with bacon would work very well.

FT the second: WORK, brought to you by SNAFU!

There's something oddly romantic about a true straight razor that even a safety razor doesn't fully capture.

What have your experiences been with your safety razor? How much of an investment is it? I assume you're still looking at some of the pricey accessories (badger hair brush, soap dish, the razor itself, replaceable blades) though I guess you don't have to bother with the strop or whetstone so that helps. Still, what was the buy-in all told?

And yeah, I don't post in the "man thread" since that's mostly a running joke about bacon.
