I thought Donna was alright... She just didn't really feel like a Companion. Most of her episodes involved the Doctor being awesome or Martha/Jenny/etc being awesome; to me it didn't really feel like Donna did anything.

I'd scale the (2005-present) companions thusly:

1. Amy
2. Martha
3. Rose
4. Donna

Huh. I liked Donna better than Martha - mostly because I highly disliked the "o noes the Doktah doesn't wub me"-stuff that Martha brought up once an episode (until she joined UNIT, anyway - she was much more awesome in Series 4 and in Torchwood). Donna wasn't really an Action Girl, but I loved her snark. Of course, Amy essentially has all the good aspects of the other New Series companions, and almost none of the bad ones.

Also, Four is still the best Doctor.

Depends on the friend(s). I've got some friends (both male and female) I can watch porn with like other people watch youtube movies. I've also got some friends that get visibly embarrassed or ashamed when watching porn. Of course, when it's 5 drunk guys, it's hilarious every time.

Also, I've been eating cucumbers all week because they're supposed to be infected with some new, mutant form of E. Coli and therefore everyone's scared of them. So far, nothing

I guess I must be the only nerd on this board that doesn't like Dr. Who. I've watched about the first 10 episodes of the new series, and it just hasn't done anything for me. The Dr. could be interesting, but he doesn't do much. The focus seems to be on Rose most of the time, and she is kind of annoying, bumbling, and slightly trashy. The Charles Dickens episode was pretty good though.

I don't get the 'Rose is trashy' criticism. I found it a refreshing change from nearly every other heroine/sidekick in sci-fi.

I would love, just for one series, for the Doctor to have a geek companion. It'd be fun seeing how meta things could get.
Please note that despite the lovely avatar Sungura gave me, I am not a medical doctor.

I've been secretly reading Game of Thrones under my desk all day (the book is under the desk, not me) only to find out my boss is reeeeeally into the show and had me sit there and practically act out the first book for her.

I do a very good Robert impersonation, if I do say so myself.

And I've always suspected watching porn with your (same-sex) friends to be somewhat gay (not in a bad way or anything, but the idea is that you share your boner with your friends, which is pretty much the definition of gay).

Don't listen to her. Become as attached as possible. Learn to love them all. Then, when you realize that no one is ever safe, you won't stop thinking about the book. It will consume you.

However, if you have a life and can't afford to read 4300 pages in a short period of time, detachment may be a wise decision.

I wouldn't really call sharing a boner with friends simply watching porno. I mean, I've watched porn with friends, but I tend to keep my bits in my pants. No need to whip it out. Sure, I'm rather proud of it, but I doubt most of my friends are particularly interested.

Yeah, last I checked, gay was defined as being sexually attracted to people of the same sex. Apparently it's since changed. I'll alert the OED.

There needs to be a place where Boners could be borrowed for Money. Like a Boner bank.

The person in charge would be some kind of "person issueing mens penises"

I imagine this will be very lucrative.

Edit* I corrected the plural of penis... I've never had to spell it before.

i might say she was a bad character. she was pouty and annoying and sometimes i felt like she was trying to act like a girl of the age of the other companions, and went a decade too far or something. she was frequently in the way and didn't ever seem to have something intelligent to add, which even rose did at some point though i felt she was a bit brainless at other times.
