Plus the Empire was a brutal police state with a 100 trillion taxpayers. They had the credits lying about and nothing to spend them on.

My personal least favorites are the MTT and the B wing.

The troop transport relies on the enemy not shooting at you while you land the even bulkier and defenseless lander and then while it deploys. The only reason it worked on Naboo was because it was a planet of the hats pacifists.

To start the B wing isn't even a B. The B wing's self righting cockpit doesn't matter in space since there thanks to artificial gravity there is no vertigo to worry about. And because the wing position is constantly changing in relation to the cockpit it can even become a hindrance when you clip a frigate because you think the ship is on the other side of you.

I've caught up on all of the CrashCourse and SciShow there is. Now I'm sad that it's down to dribs and drabs as new episodes are finished. (MinutePhysics is awesome, but I'm nearly caught up on that, too.)

I think Metro 2033 is the newest game that would be a FPS that I've purchased. And that was released in 2010. And before then... I couldn't even tell you. Maybe one of the Stalker games? I couldn't even tell you as I haven't even played those very long for lack of interest.

I just... I just don't care. I haven't seen a FPS that looked interesting in years.

I think it's simultaneously awesome and a little creepy that eventually any topic you'd cover in grade school will be explained intuitively and at no cost by educators who are much better than the average US teacher. It reminds me of how two hundred years ago people would only see the best actors in their area, but now we can see the best actors in the world.

It's also scary (but inevitable) that people are going to cling to old teaching methods or try to make a buck off of digital education.

I found a 32 GB Nexus 7 at a local "open box" store for the same price as the 16 GB and promptly bought it. Coming from an iPad and having a teeny bit of experience with Android, it wasn't too difficult to use, but I'm still pretty clueless when it comes to rooting it and what custom ROM I want to put on it.

That's cool. I have heard that you can put Ubuntu Linux on them but honestly I wouldn't' bother with a custom ROM until google stops releasing over the air updates for them.

You know how in some online games, some people seem to have all the luck. Well in our game someone got the first drop of one of the rarest items possible... then two days later got a second one. Checked around for any bugs or abuse or anything and seems legit. If you were to play consistently for several hours a day, it would still take over 10000 years for that to happen probability wise.
I'm guessing he's going to sell the second for at least few hundred or maybe over 1k, people pay crazy amounts for in game advantages in games these days.

Although, in some ways it isn't that crazy. If you earn lots, spending it on an in game advantage, which you'll almost certainly never get otherwise, is rather cost effective.

The woes of pseudo random drops.

One would imagine that with a product called "Lentil Bacon Soup", the first four ingredients might be lentils or bacon.

Water, carrots, potatoes, vegetable stock from concentrate, lentils, fully cooked bacon pieces....

The last ingredient is "spice extract". They couldn't add spices, they had to use "spice extract".

It's possible it's named for the most prominent flavors. Or for the ingredients that set it apart from other soups. I believe carrots and potatoes are common in many kinds of soup.

Just a private server (far more popular than the 'official' or any other version) of a game originally started in 1996 from a Korean company (Now non-existent), released in 1999. See here: http://www.hbolympia.com. It's your generic Korean-style D&D based mmorpg.
To be honest, it's way behind modern day standards due to how poorly it was made from the start and simply how old it is (Still directdraw, was no STL usage, no inheritance used, mainly C style code, etc). At this point we done so much work on it that it would have been better to recode it from scratch rather than try to fix and maintain old code.
Anyway... people largely still play it due to the pvp style and nostalgia.

I think the most recent FPS purchase I made was either Left 4 Dead 2 or Modern Warfare 2, and that was like... 2009. And it was for X-Box; the last one I bought for PC was... longer ago - probably the original Left 4 Dead in 2008. I was very seriously into FPS gaming between 2003 and 2009, but this actually significantly reduced the number of games I purchased, because I was in a clan that played a game released in 2003, so spent almost all my gaming time just playing that, with no time for anything else.
