Used to be allergic to tomato; now I just dislike it, and so no tomato sauce for me! As for what to have on chips — vinegar!

People who put ketchup on fries are clearly just people who have not yet experienced the superior combination of fries with mayonnaise. Clearly.

Mayo doesn't have enough of its own flavor to be a decent dipping sauce for fries. Herbed or garlic aioli however is delicious. Wendy's Frosties (chocolate only, none of this vanilla bullshit) are the best for dipping fries in. Wendy's is also the best fast food fry source.

I cannot imagine being allergic to vinegar. Balsamic and malt are nearly my favorite things in life. They definitely rank above bread and sex.

USN - marmite is basically very, very salty.

I like it thinly on grilled cheeses or beans on toast. However, when I was a toddler there's a photo of me licking out the jar, so that must have changed at some point.

I love Vegemite but I don't like Marmite; I can tolerate Promite but I don't really enjoy it. I've heard that a lot of Marmite fans don't particularly like Vegemite, but I've never seen a survey comparing these spreads. I think Marmite & Promite have a higher caramel content than Vegemite, which just has a bit of caramelised onion in it.

I suspect that most people who enjoy these salty yeast spreads acquired the taste for them as young children; I have heard of cases of adults acquiring a taste for Vegemite (eg Americans who've immigrated to Australia), but it is fairly rare.

The best way to eat french fries is with adjoining pools of ketchup and mayonnaise, with the fries dipped in the middle.

YES! And you can sprinkle salt and pepper on the mix if you're really adventurous.

Oddly enough the US has a subtle North-South Mayonnaise-MiracleWhip schism.

Second the vanilla sentiment. I disagree however with the fries, their salt is too overpowering. Checkers/Rally's is the best fry source.

Side note question anyone dip plain potato chips in mustard?

I have never been to a Checkers, having lived in only New England all my life (I'm not counting my five months in TX.) I have never even heard of the latter. I only just learned that we have a Sonic in MA at all.

My best guess is the Checkers/Rallys name branding divide is another north/south or possibly nascar/indy thing. The farthest north I can find a location is NY. You can buy the fries at the grocery store in freezer bags but they aren't the same.

I have a (good/evil) idea for mod madness. They should have words filtered to common misspellings of themselves. For example,
definitely => definately
immediately =>imediately
your => you're
Everyone will think they (and everyone else) have suddenly become horrible spellers. :twisted:

I'm not a fan of ketchup with fries, but I have been known to use fries as a method of mainlining barbecue sauce, and most of those are tomato-based.

Only things allowed on my fries are barbecue sauce or ranch dressing topped with pepper.

Semi-related: I'm so tired it took me 4 tries to spell pepper. Involved were the letter A and about 2 too many Es.

There's too many pictures for that work. I was thinking something more like drag and drop possibly. I think at work I can do it with Acrobat (which I don't have here at home), but I won't be there til next week.

ImageMagick & GraphicsMagick are cross platform. Of course, on a *nix machine it's likely that one or the other is already installed.

This would be quite an easy task to do with ImageMagick/GraphicsMagick. But it's probably a little simpler to do it via a word processing program if you've never used either of the *Magick programs before, especially if you want to arrange multiple JPEGs per PDF page.

Edit

Cathode Ray Sunshine wrote:There's too many pictures for that [to] work.

Ah. In that case, ImageMagick/GraphicsMagick are your friends, assuming you're comfortable using the command line.

If the problem with the Word strategy is so many pictures that it would take to long to click, Word can at least take fairly large batches of images at one time by going:
Insert > Picture > and then doing the shift-select of multiple images.
I got 172 pictures in one go.
