I'm currently the wrong amount of liquored up. Sober is totally fine with me. Drunk is a happy thing. I don't really like the had a small amount of alcohol and feel a little buzzed state. It just feels awkward. Clearly, the solution is to drink more.

The two are not incompatible, so long as they leave the spiritual stuff out of their work. It just gets ugly when they try to mix the two. I have some friends who are excellent physics students and also Christian.

The concept of drunk calling is amusing but I think I need to get a lot more drunk than I normally do to make it really amusing.

I turn into a car salesman/game show host when I get drunk and I'm trying to chat someone up.

On the previous subject, I drunk e-mail people. Replying to e-mails seems like such a chore to me, but when I'm drunk I don't mind. It got so bad that one time my friend unplugged my ethernet cable when I got home one night and I couldn't figure out why the hell the internet wasn't working. Bonus: the jack that it was unplugged from was right in front of my face all the while.

RT:
My flat room door is quite hard to close and while under the influcence of various things I hate a monologue directed towards my friend about it, that lasted quite some time. I managed to turn it into a religon vs science debate, because if you progressively close the door harder a few times, chances that it will break would be extremely low (Ignoring wear and tear); But if you were to slam it, then it could break and the concequences would be really bad, but save time. It wasn't a very good replica of a science vs religion debate and eventually ended up countering my own argument for science. It was meant to boil down to something like "Religion is like throwing in all your chips on a low hand; Science is like betting little on safe hands", but it didn't.
My friend find it hilarious at the time though.
Just before going to sleep I had the complusion to write down the following, bare in mind this was 3:30am and I wasn't entirely thinking. (Note: Left grammar errors in there)
"Why closing a door progressively is like science?

Doors you close progressively because the speed at which you close it rarely justifies it in total if because the damage it would cause would be to great. Therefore slamming a door may break it 1 in 300 times but the pentalty would last longer than the cummulative time saved from slamming in the first place. E.g.
10sec saved x300 =3000sec
=50mins for a punishment of at least 2hrs, but most likely more e.g. £30 fix at £6/hr = 5hrs penalty"

I should have wrote it down at the time I thought it, trying to reconstruct a remotely similar point hours later isn't easy in that state.

Resolved: That Gondor should withdraw from Osgiliath.

Affirmative: Mordor has not been active for a full age, and as the One Ring has been lost and Barad-dur destroyed, it is exceedingly unlikely that it will become active again.
Denethor, Steward of Gondor, is corrupt and using Osgiliath for personal gain, by fear-mongering to keep power and appointing his son chief of the guards at Osgiliath.
A presence in Osgiliath wastes money, and Gondor is already suffering from a severe economic recession.

Negative: Mordor may well become active again. Reports of Nazgul in the Shire and other eastern semi-states, as well as magma flowing from Mount Doom once again and increased orcish activity.
Quote Elrond the Wise, leader of Rivendell: "Barad-dur was destroyed, but its foundations were not removed." The One Ring is also missing. if Sauron were to take possession of it, Osgiliath becomes vital.
If we do not fight them in Osgiliath, we will fight them in the Pellenor fields!

Sorry, I'm in debate-mode after a debate tournament today (third place!)

But the real question is how does your argument affect Viggo Mortenson?

God damnit. I swear I never had an issue with effect/affect until that comic.

Edit, no, affect was right in that context. Ah, but the seeds of doubt are there nonetheless.

Wait, what?

have someone else buy you alcohol? if your parents arent against it, its not illegal for you to have a drink in their house, under their supervision.

as popular as it is, though, i wouldnt recommend picking up alcoholism as a solution to stress.

About the grammar nazi comic:

Both are correct, depending on the context. Randall was using an obscure meaning of effect, specifically "to start" or "to force", ie: "to effect a change"

However, if you alter the context, to change the foreign policy also works.

The funniest part of all this is, I'm not a grammar nazi.

I hate facebook applications.

I hope someone understands that when I don't accept your invitation to use an application, its not because I don't like you, its because I don't want to have a retarded application for no reason. Having a big list of "Blah blah blah invites you to use!" messages every day is bad enough.

I'd prefer that, on any networking site, my profile would be very minimalistic, very plain, not in your face, not "Listen to this really loud music you probably don't like!" or "Rawr brains, use my zombie app". I'd just like it to serve its purpose. If you want to contact me, here is how.

This is true in most situations (it especially sucks when someone who annoys you in real life also annoys you online with a ridiculous amount of ridiculous Facebook apps). But some FB applications are actually quite useful/cool. Graffiti, for one. And Free Gifts. Texas Hold'Em. Most of them are crap, but the occasional good ones are worthwhile. So I keep an open mind.
