It's a damn fine paragraph, and it fits pretty well with what is around it. I wish there were more of it, though. I have collected about 40 pages I like (in pretty standard Word format, I think, so not that much), but whenever I feel the urge to write, I will expend that urge rewriting the crap I have already written because it's never good enough. Except when it is, and I have to restrain myself lest I rewrite those parts, too.

I'm pretty sure this new paragraph, and the paragraphs that surround it, fit into the 'good enough' category. I hope. I really don't want to rewrite it, if I read it later and it is terrible - it was hard to convey exactly what I wanted to convey in the constraints I had set myself with those paragraphs that had preceded this new one.

Zing, page-topper!

Possibly like this.

[edit]
Actually reading that old post reveals it's still actually kinda confusing, so let me say it again, but differently.
Spoiler:
Picture this scenario: blue portal on a solid fixed wall, orange portal on a free movable platform, something you could conceivably pick up and carry. Acting in an alternate version of the world where moving the portals doesn't destroy them.
On the blue side, anchor a pole to the ground so it can't move, and feed it through the portal. So on the orange side you have a pole poking out of the portal. Now, if you pick up the orange portal and move it around, the pole will wave around... so a force must be being transmitted from the platform to the pole, even though they aren't actually physically connected. And, conversely, by Newton's 3rd law, if you grab the pole and try to move it around, it should move the orange portal, too, as though they were connected, even though they're not. So it's reasonable that force can still be transferred between the portal surface and objects within the portal.

Which comes back to the crushers, and it's reasonable that force will still be transferred between the crushing pistons and the person standing between them, who will get crushed, even though there's no physical contact between the person and the pistons.

the ratio of the incident electromagnetic field strength to the voltage is to the antenna's power.

How to hurt a cause:

1. Write a perfectly good argument for said cause.
2. Add paranoid ramblings to (1). Make sure you mention the new world order and the military-industrial complex.
3. Post (2) on the internets.

Which conspiracies you ramble on about of course varies with the cause you're trying to hurt. If the followers are a bunch of nutters to begin with, you'll obviously have to resort to even crazier ramblings. Project mkultra, HAARP mind reading, reptilian shape shifters, time travel, space nazis, etc.

Poor computer. I started a get-all for the newest version branch in the SVN repository, and then started a build on one of the solutions.

I was also kinda curious if the file system was fine, so I decided I'd do an fragmentation analyze (not actually defrag), waiting for them all to complete.

And then, the monthly forced virus scan shows up. Yes. My system might as well be moving backwards (I stopped the fragmentation analysis at least...).

After that I became really moody all the time and just stayed in and started using more electronics then is healthy, forming a bad habit that continues today.

I do not get invited to parties.
