Uncle Ben! Politicians come and go, and time judges all. As I think of you at this moment, I think poise, honesty, transparency, decency, and heart. I wish you all the happiness in the world, and I've been honored and PROUD to have you as our first family. You inspired me to think of grace. Fact be known, michelle covered your narrow ass many a day. It's been good having your steady hand on the wheel, compadre. Kick em in the sand amigo, kick em in the sand.

Unusual circumstances as they may be. Was I the guy working his way out of the ghetto in NC? Young man cries. Hopefully we live in a state of grace. Shitty bus ride amigo, after many a long day. Fear for life. Fear for life. Technical term? Straight up dick! Kinda like my beach roaming.

Certainly won't miss the state department relief Captain!

I do. I have been incredibly busy, what with moving out to live with girlfriend, taking lots of illegal drugs, and dealing with a terrible Internet provider who seems to deem it okay to charge us for shit that didn't happen. :(

I miss this place. And all of you! I really should integrate it into my Internet rotation much more!

Anyway, someone said something about metal? While I love metal, I haven't listened to a lot lately. My snugglemuffin isn't a big metal fan, so our days generally involve a lot more electronic music.

But I do make time for Cattle Decapitation, Decapitated (a theme emerges) Ihsahn, a lot of Devin Townsend / Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, Mastodon, Nekrogoblikon, Testament, Opeth, Skeletonwitch and Havok.

That's my usual rotation.

But! I have been listening to a lot of psytrance and neurofunk lately. Got really into that kind of thing. It can be pretty fun to groove out to when chilling.

My favourite metal for falling asleep to is probably Sunn O))) - Bathory Erezebet. Might be creepy for some, is relaxing to me.

Missed you all.

I've been living life with this unstated assumption that most people's minds work basically the same in terms of how they think and so on. But based on how differently people actually behave and talk, I don't think that's justifiable.

There ought to be a way to eavesdrop on someone's internal monologue to figure this shit out.

Somewhere between a post I made back in June 2014
and now, a string of unlikely events came with an unexpected outcome.
Shot for the moon, ended up with a star on a pedestal.

Turns out the official measurement was 425cm; larger than I thought (Absolute max size on design was 424cm) and what they anticipated. Also probably in the 2018 gamer edition, out in sept. Huzzah!

Has anyone ever added anything besides milk into their tea? I know the red teas sometimes uses coconut milk, but has anyone tried heavy cream? Seems like a good way to get milk fat without diluting the tea.

I always use half & half. There is no other way. They didn't seem to know what that was in Sydney so I had to make my own. Heavy cream is a little overpowering and milk doesn't cut it.

Ice Cream.
I've added Ice Cream to both coffee and tea,
Because I had no milk and no sugar. It's ok.

I'm a tea purist and object to adulterating it with anything like milk (which, imo was only ever necessary because we were shit at brewing tea an needed to the milk to cover the sins rather than just learning to brew it more like the Chinese do) but I've always wondered, what actually is half and half? I don't think we have it here in the UK so I've always been confused.

Half cream, half milk, 100% perfection.

Not necessarily half, just a mixture. This is the legal requirement to label something half-and-half in the US:

https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/ ... fr=131.180
(a) Description. Half-and-half is the food consisting of a mixture of milk and cream which contains not less than 10.5 percent but less than 18 percent milkfat. It is pasteurized or ultra-pasteurized, and may be homogenized.

Nuh-uh. Whole milk is perfection, buttermilk is a close second and there's no prize for third place and beyond.

I've long stopped pouring anything into a glass of tea, because I started liking the flavour of unadulterated green tea and the bitterness of most black teas. (if it's really bitter I'll add a bucket of sugar though)

I'd rather let a dollop of half & half cut the tannins down and only need a bit of sugar. Whenever I drink green tea it's always unadulterated.

Why can't you find actual cream in US supermarkets?

I could find half and half and heavy whipping but regular single cream was totally missing.

Does cream have a definition? The grocery stores always separate their milk fat by percentage. Skim, 1%, 2%, 18% etc etc. The fattier it gets, the creamier it gets.

Is 18% called heavy cream here? ... Nope. According to this, it's "light cream".

Also, TIL that clotted cream taste almost like butter because it IS damn near butter. (60% for those who don't click on links.)

Apologies, the single cream in my fridge looks like this and appears to be 19g per 100ml so whatever that means. Like, between 18-20%?

Clotted cream is great. Esp. with the whole cream tea thing.

I was gonna comment on the nails then saw the picture info thing.

I haven't encountered the term 'single cream' anywhere in the US. There are stores that sell clotted cream though.

Single cream and clotted cream are two very different beasts. I use single cream sometimes as a 'sauce' for pasta with bits of bacon and green beans. It's usually found as something to pour over desserts with a consistency of thick milk. Clotted cream you know of and is great with scones and jam.

When I was in the states I wanted to have creamy chicken with bacon and chicken and I couldn't find single cream anywhere. I was upset.

(Thanks for also seeing my nails.)

I feel like heavy cream would do the trick. That's what I use in curries that call for it (e.g. paneer makhani).

The Brit/Aus/Kiwi pronunciation of "Scone" is bananas. I wasn't sure what I was being offered at first.

I learned it as "scahnn" from my not-really-Scottish-but-her-granny-was Mom. "Scohne" seems to be Americanish.

Don't start lumping us all together - we can't even decide amongst ourselves which pronunciation is correct
