How long has this been on xkcd comics?

Postby Farabor » Tue Nov 08, 2016 1:51 am UTC

So I just noticed this at the bottom of today's xkcd...so I went back and looked at others. Has it always been there and I never noticed, or is it something that is new(ish)?

Added it October 4 or 5, 2016, according to explainxkcd.

Previous footnote:
We did not invent the algorithm.
The algorithm consistently finds Jesus.
The algorithm killed Jeeves.
The algorithm is banned in China.
The algorithm is from Jersey.
The algorithm constantly finds Jesus.
This is not the algorithm. This is close.

Changes its form depending on the observer.

But why is it written in tiny Eyestrain Sans font? Perhaps I should look at it using the recommended setup, I wonder if a ZX Spectrum is close enough...

You see kids, pre-Google, search engines actually looked at the content of the page and ranked things based on the words there, so people crammed all kinds of crazy crap in tiny text at the bottom.
