Do you think they should do away with pennies?
With inflation the penny is just continuing to get more and more worthless as time goes on.

Then how would we pay people for their thoughts? Ever think of that? Huh? No! Because you have no cents!

To be honest, I hardly use cash at all these days. Even the vending machines at my department take card.
Obviously there are issues with trying to switch to an entirely card-based economy; in particular homeless people might find it really difficult to get or keep an account.

Ok. Fine. But only if we introduce the Loony and Toony. (Speaking US-centrically, of course.)

Get rid of the penny and the nickel.

This.
Both the penny and the nickle are worth less than the metal used to mint them. Arguments about how "rounding is bad" will be ignored, because we already do that at gas stations (9/10 of a cent?), and nobody is trying to change that.

Keep them. Multiply the value of all currency by ten. Problem solved.*

Re: Do you think they should do away with pennies?
You can't even get a pickle for a nickle anymore, and that's a damn shame.
Why not reset the whole system and now pennies are worth a dime. Just divide everything by ten.
Also, a ten dollar bill should be called a kilocent.

You can't buy anything with a penny, nickel or dime these days. You can still buy candy out of machines with a quarter.

You haven't bought single sheets of paper lately?

I've seen not one, but two coins of frustratingly small value and diameter being phased out at the same time and live to tell about it. I'm starting to think the 5 forint coin should follow suit, although there are things it can buy. Speaking of which, I still wonder what would happen if I asked for a single shelf peg at that hardware store I sometimes go to, because they cost 2 forints a piece, which should be rounded to zero as far as I know.
To answer the original question: YES. What are you even waiting for?
