My doctor has told that it is normal. You know I have tried quitting smoking before too, and I know the amount of time/days I took off of smoking, once I get back to it somehow, I smoke hell lot of cigarettes. Why? Can anyone tell me to permanently quit it.

One: You may not be able to quit smoking alone. I can't, except when I am on estrogen, to avoid blood clots... and even when I on a drugs that can KILLS ME DEAD, if I smoke I sometimes smoke anyways. So you might need a supports systems, like a therapist, interested relative, friend or lover. And they can help you only if you absolutely, deadly honesty and straightforwardness about when you backslide and smoke more.

Two: You need to retrain your thoughts every day, never stop working to occupy your times elsewhere, watch movies, read a book or do work instead of smoking cigarettes.

I happen to work at a tobacco quit line. Do you live in the US? If so you can call 1-800-Quit-Now to (almost certainly, might depend on the state) get some form of phone-based coaching and in many cases free nicotine replacement therapy as well. Some states even provide free Chantix, an expensive medicine that's been proven to have fantastic quit rates.

It can and often does take multiple attempts to quit. You should call one of those lines, they'll have experts to help you figure solutions that work for you. One thing I've often heard them say (I'm not a coach here) is try replacing the hand-to-mouth motion and the mouth sensation with something else. Some people use cinnamon sticks instead of cigarettes - their spiciness can mimic the feeling cigarettes give you. Anyway, good luck!

i highly recommend downloading Audible or some other audio book app and start obsessively listening to "quit smoking" book. Allen Carr "Easy Way To Stop Smoking" is a very popular one. When you go for a walk, driving in the car, etc, listen to the book instead of smokign.

Good idea nicholasbrooks. I wanna do that one. Another one: Try actually limiting how much cigs you smoke in a day until you're down to none.

I think the lover thing should work. It looks like I have to make tough decisions. But anyway, things are on the track now a little as I had strong determination. See how long it stays. :)
