Halloween is coming! (horrible franken-thread)

Postby circumlocuted » Mon Sep 24, 2007 3:12 pm UTC

I am excited already, and it isn't even October yet.

I already found a cheap place to order used hospital scrubs and discount medical equipment, I am going to go as an evil "misunderstood" super scientist.
I just need to find a cheap bonesaw for my girlfriend, who is going to be my evil lab assistant.

I think one of the reasons I love this time of year so much is the weather, it's brisk and cool, but not cold, and the air is clear and fresh with the smell of leaves.

Forget Halloween. Video Games Live coming to campus a couple days before. Unfortunately I can't cosplay but I'm looking forward to the people who are.

I went to Video Games Live with my (band geek) wife.

Both of us walked out with the same idea. "SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PLAY SOME GODDAMN MUSIC, YOU FUCKERS!"

Seriously.. dude just kept talking and talking between the songs.. I mean, I'm fine with them breaking it up every now and again to do something, but after every song, stopping everything and having the fuckstick asshole come back on stage to ramble about something for five minutes before letting the orchestra continue? Fuck you, buddy.

Now, back on topic...

I need to get the halloween decorations down. As for what I'm doing.. no idea, probably going to go to a friend's halloween party.. need to figure out what I can dress as this year on the cheap. Hmm.. I just read the News & Articles section, and I've got several computer parts lying around.. I could go as a confused MIT student going to the airport.

My roommate and I are going to be Dethklok fans.

I didn't know what I was going to be but I got her hooked on metalocalypse and so this was her idea : )

My friends and I want to be Carnies... I think I'm going as cotton candy. If that doesn't happen, I've also got a shiny purple cape and I'll be SuperLanicita!.

does anyone have a good idea for a couples costume for myself and my girlfriend? My first idea was velcro, where each of us makes an outfit out of one side of the velcro equation.

I like the jack-o-lantern part more than the costume part. For the past couple of years I've been going to a Pumpkin Festival with a carved pumpkin along with My Friend and his family. We all try and do intricate carvings usually involving 3 layers ( Cut through all the way, The Skin peeled off and the Skin still on.) Its quite fun. ill post some pictures of them When i find them.

I was thinking about stealing an idea from the "Dress like a time traveler" day event, and dressing like a man from the past who has travelled into the future. Acting shocked at new technologies.

My girlfriend and I were going to be link and zelda (her as link, me as zelda, to usurp the title of Prettiest Princess)... but I suppose that's not happening anymore.
So, I got tired of the fact that the appearance of my band name in my signature made my posts on this forum the dominant result when googling for my music. Anyway, if you think I might happen to be a good musician, you can test this theory here.

I have an old lab coat that my brother left at my place after he came back from uni, and it's covered in strange stains (I'm half-convinced that he was running a meth lab or something to help pay for his tuition), along with the goggles (ze goggles! ze do nothing!), and I have a number of replica swords (I want to get an actual claymore one day, but for now I have to stick with these replicas that would be totally useless in a swordfight) lying around. I'm pretty sure I can come up with a costume out of that.

Last year I made my own Rorschach costume. It didn't work at all.
This year I dunno. I could try again.
If there was an easy way to go as Flaming Carrot, that would be awesome.
I could go as the soup nazi and hand out treats in character.

My top hat at the wedding I went to on Saturday (more on this in another thread) inspired both Amber and I... she's going to be Alex from A Clockwork Orange and I'm going to be Slash.

We may have to get some alternate costumes though because our local theater is doing Rocky Horror Show as well. And they're letting in the fucking squirt guns this time!!!

Because we get to wear costumes to work, i plan on using it as an excuse to be cosplaying. Especially since Oni-con is right before Halloween weekend.

Still working on ideas...

Maybe Lelouch... but that's semi stretching it... :/

I'll take suggestions. XD

We get to wear costumes at my High School. I haven't really put much thought into one, so I'll prolly just do what I did last year: dress up in a hideous bathrobe and carry around my copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

EDIT: By the way, I actually modified (with paper and tape) it so that it does in fact have "DON'T PANIC" written in large, friendly letters on the cover...

Unless I come up with something better, that is...

...

Nope, I got nothing.

We need a Hallowe(')en* costume picture thread. Or maybe we could just use this one...

*I put parentheses around the apostrophe because it really depends on where you live. There are some real Nazis about that little apostrophe, and it goes both ways (i.e. not just "Oh me yarm WHERE'S THE APOSTROPHE!!!" but also "Oh me yarm WHY IS THERE AN APOSTROPHE!!!").

WHICH COSTUME TO CHOOSE??

80's break dancer
-Sweat jumpsuit
-Adidas with fat laces
-kangol hat
-old boombox that MUST have cassette player
-piece of linoleum around my neck to "bust a move" anywhere anytime

Ringo Starr
1. something Beatles-ish suit maybe?
2. talk with awesome accent
3. ?
4. Profit

I have my pic in post yo' face for comparison of Ringo but I think I can pull it off. I want to do the break dancer but not sure if I want to carry around a boombox and what not. Take any/all input. Wasn't trying to hijack, I just didn't think it was worth separate topic.

'80s breakdancer.

I'm going as a Nautolan. You know in Star Wars, the Jedi Kit Fisto? The one with the big black eyes that sometimes goes around with Aayla Secura? Yeah. The tentacles are made from weighted cloth cylinders (so they move naturally) and the mask is made from plastiflesh and taken apart sunglasses.

'80s breakdancer. That would be awesome beyond belief.

I'm thinking silent film girl. In black and white, naturally. Maybe even sepia if I find a dress in the right colors. Now all I need is a Halloween even.

I either want to be Spawn or Quail Man. I haven't decided.

Quail Man would be a lot easier. But really, I'm obsessed with the idea of making a Spawn costume. If only I could find a full black leather jumpsuit in my size at a thrift store. I know that's asking a lot.

OH SHIT I TOTALLY FORGOT OCTOBER WAS COMING UP!

I was so uninterested in Halloween these past few years but I really feel like quitting being such a jaded and indifferent loser. What happened to the magic of my younger years?

Wow, talking about "younger years" at nineteen... I think I'm getting a bit ahead of myself.

But seriously, I have a lot of stuff to buy now!
