30 people, all formally attired, marching into a restaurant, laying their own tablecloth, using their own plastic cutlery, paper plates and cloth napkins sitting down and eating together for a friends 22nd birthday.

This is normal.

Doing this at a McDonalds.

This was my Wednesday evening.
Why is it that 4chan is either infinitely awesome, infinitely bad, or "lolwut", but never any intermediary level?

My computer apparently can't read upside-down text. I'm seeing a few letters but mostly just lots of little boxes. =/

It's probably your browser as much as your computer - on the computer I'm using at the moment, IE6 is the default browser and it can only handle about 1 in 20 of the characters. When I switch to Firefox, though, it's got no problems with them.

You're probably right, because I haven't used firefox for a little while, but I remember reading upside down text from that one symbol... some Turkish number symbol or something. Anyway, yeah.

My Firefox does pretty well with most alphabetic languages, but for some reason Chinese and Japanese (even katakana) makes it freak out.

Those don't come with a default English language Windows install. You have to manually install Asian language support in order to see them in any program, IIRC.

It might be a similar problem even if you're not using Windows.

Windows XP Steps:
Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages tab at the top > Details... > Add.... > Whatever you want to add.
Or just for the Asian ones
Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages tab at the top > Tick both boxes

I've found that members of the public are surprisingly receptive to you approaching them with a video camera and asking them to fill in the plot holes to Harry Potter.

Basically we were having a conversation about how the third principal Eexceptions to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration, which doesn't allow the magicing of food, didn't stop a wine bottle being refilled in the fifth book or water being spirited out of wands pretty much all the time and so we decided that the best thing to do would be to ask random people, preferably with a video camera so that we looked cool. Unfortunately the person who's camera it was was a girl I'd met that day and never got the name of so I don't think I'd be able to show any footage.

It's quite simply an example of one of Rowling's finest uses of Clarke's third law; It wasn't magic that refilled the wine glass or whatnot, it was sufficiently advanced technology.

Also, the water from the wands isn't for drinking, and everyone knows Gamp's Laws have a slapstick loophole.

I thought this was pretty clever. http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/06/g ... -adds.html

He projects images which cant be seen by the eye onto street objects at tourism hot spots which then turn out in people's photos.

That is awesome (though he must look terribly suspicious pointing a gun at everyone). It occurs to me another way to do that would be to project bright infrared light through a stencil, forming shapes on a nearby wall. Dammit, yet another reason to want a really bright IR light... :(

These are my friends, and the winners of my high school's talent show last spring. Yes, they are one of the more popular local bands at my school. No, they do not have instruments :-P One of them even carries his "air-guitar bag" around school on occasion, which is essentially an empty guitar bag.

You're doing it wrong, though that's a good first step. The idea is to do it to every computer you come across, ninja style.

I wore a text-bubble asking for donations for the cure for childhood diabetes on my neck to the right of my head at an autoparts store. I received a good $15 more than normal.

Sadly, I had to remove when installing batteries and doing other outside shenanigans.

At school there's sheets of paper for writing your name and the time on so the school knows when you're on site or not.
I've begun to write nice things next to people's names.

"Holly is lovely"
"David is great"
"Candarra has a cool name"

I hope they notice.

Someone's been doing that at the student's association here. They use a whiteboard to keep track of who's doing what, and people have been appending:
Joe | INsane
Bob | OUT of his mind
Fred | INteresting
Amy | OUTrageous
etc. I don't remember any of the real names, but yeah.
