emo cry baby thread: go down the road, not across the street

Postby __Kit » Sun Oct 14, 2007 2:55 am UTC

Not quite Confessional, nor Bad things That Happened.

Just for a good ol' whine, but you don't want to make a new thread about.
Stuff that you may feel guilty about whining about because it's actually pretty pity.

No meta-humour please...

Uhh, I'll start, I'm feeling whiny about the fact that I don't think my girlfriend loves me as much, I feel like I have initiate everything, and I try doing nice things (love letters, poems etc.) but she doesn't seem to want to put any effort in, kinda frustrating.

I'll whine that I hate grading papers. (As a Graduate TA).

I have more specifics related to this whine, but I think I'm actually, legally, not allowed to talk about it, due to privacy issues and whatnot, even if I don't name any names.

I remember one time my GA ran into me at a bar the night before my midterm in his class. I hadn't been drinking and was about to leave. Then he called me a pussy and bought me a pitcher of beer.

That wasn't a request from mods for 2 reasons:
1) It was meant to be a joke, to be taken lightly. If people seriously want to whine, they'll not want their thread name changed. I half-expected someone to whine about my off-topicness, actually.

2) __Kit could've changed thread title as well as any mod, so if it was a request, it wasn't exclusively to the mods.

I'm going to whine about the lack of appreciation I get here, because I have a tendency to not get jokes and then make even worse ones back. The bad, spammy start didn't help.

Do I know you?
I've done shots with my students before (note: i'm not commenting on the ethics of students buying their TA's liquor the night before a test, just that it occurred).

Of course, I also graded all of their lab reports while at the bar. It helped. But not much.

I'm going to whine, as demonstrated, by making whimpering sounds and posting on this forum, and deliberately lengthening, somewhat unnecessarily, this post, about reading Hume for ethics class, which causes me, without want, to fall asleep, and wake up startled, not due to falling asleep itself, but due to the terribleness of this assignment, blah blah blah passion blah blah concerns blah blah blah reason blah blah passion.

EDIT:
Hume wrote:I never should have ventur'd upon a third volume of such abstruse philosophy, in an age, wherein the greatest part of men seem agreed to convert reading into an amusement, and to reject every thing that requires any considerable degree of attention to be comprehended.

AGREED!

I think we already have a 'complain at teachers' thread, but I'm going to jump on this here bandwagon and whine about my chemistry teacher.
The textbooks we use are specifically designed around self-teaching.
She tells us to read ahead.
Then, in a drony voice, reads it all out slowly, putting emphasis on bits like 'intramolecular', or 'intermolecular' when we can all (yes, I have checked with the whole class) tell what they mean and can distinguish between the two.

I could whine about girls, "the talk", and how much I put up with and get nothing in return, but on second thought, I'll just make vague references to it in all of the posts I make tonight and slowly delve into insanity tonight!

Whine. I really hate living where I do, but I probably use it as an excuse to my problems. All my friends live in another town. I go to school in another town. And it's a hassle to get there every weekend.

There's probably a more specific thread for this kind of whine, but I'm here, so: WTF does "I love you, but not in that way" mean???????????????????? (without context, it makes more sense, with the context that I'm too lazy to put in, it makes significantly less sense). *More useless whining about my life here*
