I am very good at listening and for some reason, I am very good at attracting people who want to talk about their relationship problems. Everyone comes to me and ends up blurting out there whole sorry story and I sit there and listen and take it all in and then give them advice and make them feel better and they walk away with a new look on things and I walk away with the warm and fuzzies. I often think I must have some kind of neon sign following me around advertising my listening skills.

I am also pretty good at most computer games, anything super mario and tetris.

I guess I am also pretty good at making vodka + juice mixes just right so they taste delicious.

Analogies.

Whenever I need to explain a difficult subject to someone I know probably won't get in under normal circumstances, I'm pretty good at coming up with very accurate analogies on the spot. And I can continue them for as long and in as much depth as the subject demands. Which, subsequently makes me a decent teacher.

I'm a very good active listener. I'll mostly just listen to what they have to say, and interject advice or relevant anecdotes where needed. I'm good at observing and analyzing people, so I can pretty easily figure out what they need to and don't need to hear. It makes me into that friend that people complain to a lot, but I don't mind.

Hmm, lots of good listeners, any good talkers?

I honest to goodness am struggling to think of anything here. I'm good at pointing out the need for apostrophes in topic titles??

I'm good at worrying myself sick over hypothetical situations. Example: Boyfriend's driving home after a date; we live about an hour apart. I start picturing him driving, alone, in the dark, on the highway...drunk driver hits him, he spins off the road and goes into a coma...I rush into the hospital and see him lying comatose on the bed and break down sobbing...

Then the phone rings, and he's home safe, and I feel relieved and silly. But it happens again and again. :(

On a better note, I'm really good at learning languages.
you may remember me from 2008 or 2009. I left for a while. I'm now sporadically back. I tumble here.

I'm going to pretend that anyone cares but turns out that I'm not very good at acting. The nicest thing the critic of the amateur play I was in could find to say was that I was a "competent Rachel".

This thread is also making me hugely insecure. I cook OK, when I put my heart into it. I'm decent at my job. I have a relatively good sense of humour. I'm pretty good with people. I don't suck at computer games. I sing ok but won't try out for Pop Idols just yet. I think I'm competent at kissing and lovemaking. I like to think I'm a good friend.

I'm not sure I'm actually particularly good at anything.

Except wasting time on the fora when I really need to get some work done. I am very, very good at wasting time on the fora.

Kissing!

I have it on good authority that I am rather talented in this area. Of course I would suppose it's all a matter of opinion...can one be absolutely good at kissing, I wonder? Hmmm.

I used to think very similarly to this,

you probably play down your own abilities in your own head and focus on the big things that you do mediocre than the little things you excel at.

Replace with:

I cook well when I put my heart into it. I'm goodat my job. I have a good sense of humour. I'm good with people. I play well at certain computer games. I sing but won't try out for Pop Idols just yet. I'm good at kissing and lovemaking. I'm a good friend.

For some reason when I make food, it always turns out really well. This is a bit odd, as I don't usually follow a set method or timescale, it usually just seems to kind of... come together. Having said that, I'm really easy to please foodwise, and people often give me funny looks when I enthusiastically describe my habit of filling an apple pie with mini cheddars before eating it.
I hear I'm a good friend, which is good, and I like being the kind of person who friends can use as an e-confessionbooth without being ridiculed, no matter how stupid they think their concern is. I seem to get the hang of programming quite easily, though I wouldn't say I'm that good yet.

Edit: I've also been told I'm good at giving hugs and high-fives. I once gave so many high-fives in a few hour period that I had a mark on my hand for like a week.

I'm not a good listener. Get me into a conversation I'm interested in and I'll listen to you but in the same situation I can talk far better than I can listen.

I like to say I'm blessed with great charisma (it's got a damn +4 modifier! I could be a caketastic sorcerer) but not the social ability to use it. Hence why I'm very good at public speaking but not good at idle chit-chat.

Same here, any time I cook it seems to come out remarkable well regardless of my usual lack of preparation or planning. I get chastised at home for eating ketchup sandwiches too. I once made this great concoction a few years back: I got a Dairylea creamy cheesy triangle-thingy, rolled it in sugar and wrapped it in those wafer-thin ham slices. Makes a great early-morning snack.

I'm told I make the best Irish soda bread around. The rest of my cooking is edible at worst, and pretty damn good at best, but the soda bread is the crown.

My fiance's allergic to raisins, so I've taken to making him a pepperoni-soda-bread that came out surprisingly well.

I'm like this. It's a great ability, as I'm usually ready to wake up soon before someone comes up the stairs to complain that I'm not up yet. The noise of them coming up the (creaky) stairs wakes me up, and I can open the door as they knock. Instant heart attack!

Coping/Adapting.

Put me in any situation and I will get used to it very quickly. Show me how to do something once, walk me through it once, and I can do it forever. My problem solving skills are also incredibly immense.

Talking.

It is what I do for FutureShock, and it would appear I have the ability to rouse a dreary audience and get them excited for what is coming up. Also I am good at reading aloud, so good that often, when I used to read in class, the teachers would forget to tell me to stop and let someone else read, because they liked my reading so much.

I am good at speed-programming, I guess. Either that or the things I procrastinate on are just that simple. In 2005 I was in the BDPA HSCC. Each team of five had to design a fully functioning dynamic website with secure login and a shopping cart in 5 hours. The team I was on used JSP (the other choices were ASP and PHP) and MySQL (no alternative). We got points taken off because our designer placed the password box to the left of the username field. And everything but the database (my job) worked half the time, none of which was during our demo to the judges.

Amazingly, we placed high enough to get free computers.

I'm very good at botany. I can identify just about any plant to family level, and in my area I can get most to gebus and a fair fedw to species without needing to consult anything.

I can hold my own in just about everything (more or less what Solt said), and I'm also very good at improvised repairs/construction. Like the other day, I took my monitor apart, partly because it was big and clunky, partly because the onboard speakers make random squealing noises, but mostly just cause I felt like it. When I had everything apart, it occured to me that without the frame, I would have a hgard time using, as it wouldn't stand up. While most people would have been stuck, and would have had to put the damn thing back together, I fetched some alluminum bar stock and some epoxy and made a nice little stand for it.

Flying kites, cooking pasta, DDR (I used to be better ;_; ), public speaking, making tea, learning languages, making connections between topics in class (So *that's* why biased notation is used in floating point numbers...).

math, anime, more!
Origami, Florida
New York, and xkcd.

Ooh! Ooh! I'm good at pasta too! I can't cook much, but I can make some ungodly wonderful homemade pasta (starting with eggs and flour) and fresh tomato sauce.
