Handwriting: Kind of pre-schoolish looking unless I do it quickly, in which case it's actually rather fluid if unreadable.

Forum sig: A random quip I remember from when I was really young and I've probably warped it to suit my tastes. Usually I add a third line "The sheer promise of bondage and whips will not be enough to apprehend a thought as it travels from ear to misinformed ear."

I kind of did the same thing, but I still randomly grab quotes and throw them in a .txt when I like something. My sig is about the only one I wanted to put there that would actually fit the character limit. Here are a few I was thinking of using(oh, and most are unattributed because they come from random msg boards, or someone else stole them from someone famous, then I stole the quote from them):

It's weirdly amusing when someone attributes complicated thought processes and characteristics to the type and/or size of genitals. They're genitals. Their whole point is to swell up and feel special and tickly in an effort to trick you into making more people. You know what has bigger testicles than you? Cows. Some dogs. Whales. Pigs. Don’t be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying yes begins things. Saying yes is how things grow. Saying yes leads to knowledge. "Yes" is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say yes. - Stephen Colbert

What does the "Ru" stand for?

As for mine, it means, "And those people should not be listened to who keep saying the voice of the people is the voice of God, since the riotousness of the crowd is always very close to madness," and it was said by Alcuin to Charlemagne as the original written source for the phrase, "The voice of the people is the voice of God." It's true, even if everyone agrees on something, it does not become right. It also fits my username and shows that I like Latin.

And I guess I might as well add one of those tags.

Changed my fora sig. The top quote is bugging me, it sounds familiar from somewhere, but I actually pulled it out of my head. google is failing me as to finding who else said it, so I'm guessing it's somewhat original.

Too many people reading over my shoulder, that know my name is kriel. Meh, oh well. (This'll only make sense if you remember my last sig.)

My written sig is still a scribble. I really gotta practice that...

My new signature:
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Techically, the last line isn't part of that verse, but it's my favorite verse and I don't want to leave out the line either.

Anyway, it is meant to reflect my intense, overwhelming fear of death, and my combative/contrary nature.

New Sig!
Truth is Beaty, Beauty is Truth

Love is to step out of an ice-cold shower smiling.

The first part is simple a reflection of my belief that-
No matter how painful, Truth has a value and beauty that cannot be ignored.
Without being real in some sense, nothing can be truly worth admiring.

The orange half has a bit more backstory. I recently went to go see WALL-E with my SO. We've been going out for a while, but things are progressing slowly. I Love Her, but for a while I was wondering what I really mean when I feel the love. Anyway, the date was awesome. We both were thrilled with the movie, and hung out in a coffeshop for a while after it was over. Seeing the way she looked at me, I know the feeling was mutual. I had to get up really early the next morning so I took a shower before going to bed. Oh, and we have no gas at home. (Long story :x )
So I take my freezing cold shower. We're talking physical pain here, not fun in any capacity- I'm only getting wet when it's absolutely needed. But as I stepped out, shivering and snatching at a towel, I was wearing the biggest smile of my life. What I was going through did not matter. I knew that she felt for me just as much as I felt for her her, that she would think of me and appreciate me no matter what happened. That is love.

@Mr Beck: Awwwwwww, that made me smile.

Anyway, I've changed my mind. This little poem gave me goosebumps the first time I read it. (Yesterday.)

Rise like lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number!
Shake your chains to earth, like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you-
Ye are many; they are few!
Raise up the torch and light the way.

Handwriting is illegible. My first ever bad grade was due to my atrocious handwriting. My last Math professor said he can't make out anything from it (am I the only one who senses the irony in a Math professor commenting about handwriting?).

Right now I got a bunch of my favorite albums on there. Mission: Control! by Burning Airlines (I have that symbol tattooed on my rib cage), Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu, You're a Woman, I'm a Machine by Death From Above 1979, and Ima Robot by Ima Robot. I'll put up more once I figure out a way to put more characters in my sig. Probably by combining them into one picture.

My new sig is a little project I'm working on in my spare time: a bible translation for programmers.

Code: Select all

fruitsOfSpirit = ['love', 'joy', 'peace', 'patience', 'kindness', 'goodness', 'faithfulness', 'gentleness', 'self-control']
for i in fruitsOfSpirit:
    assert(lawAgainst(i) == False) #Galations 5:22-23

That bit's in python, it may have other languages appearing depending on how I feel at the time.

Part of a larger quote from Edward R. Murrow:

"We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men— not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular."

I was reading the page bottom to the top (not sure why- I do it a lot, and it is confusing), saw your sig, and immediately recognized the quote (saw the movie a few days ago). Good movie, even if it was a bit unfair to Darwin.

My signature quotes nothing. It's just a notice board/general facts about life that I found for myself and love to share (forcibly) with others.

The toast is part of a longer one that won't fit with everything else; I do this with all my friends at any occasion applicable. The first two honors are easily changable; I never get rid of the third:
To the drinks that we toast with, to the women that we share them with, and to the American Way that enables us so.

I don't know about that. You see, I fear death because I want to continue to live so much. I want to live. Ever read Sandman? The poem--"rage, rage against the dying of the light" really speaks to me because I do not plan to die meekly.

I do not fear death, I fear pain. Death is to become nothing, and how can one fear nothing?

Anyway, my signature, currently:
CAUTION: Contents may not reflect the views of the poster. Not a substitute for human interaction. May contain nuts. Filmed using eyelash implants.

"Caution" - y'know, pay attention
"Contents may not reflect views of the poster" - in a vain hope that the people I wind up arguing with in SB or FaiD might realise that the viewpoint I'm presenting might not be one I agree with. I mean, you don't learn anything unless you try to argue for different viewpoints, right?
"Not a substitute for human interaction" - from Futurama, yo
"May contain nuts" - as found on a packet of peanuts. Also, the post may contain crazy.
"Filmed using eyelash implants" - a disclaimer found on most mascara adverts. Fun times.

Well, it's been almost two months, so here's a new one:
And I
Am the arrow,

The dew that flies,
Suicidal, at one with the drive
Into the red

Eye, the cauldron of morning.

The end of Ariel by Sylvia Plath. I'm not sure what the poem means...I think it's about birth. The signature part seems clear enough. Here's the entire poem, I really recommend reading it all the way through a few times.

Spoiler:
Stasis in darkness.
Then the substanceless blue
Pour of tor and distances.

God's lioness,
How one we grow,
Pivot of heels and knees! ---The furrow

Splits and passes, sister to
The brown arc
Of the neck I cannot catch,

Nigger-eye
Berries cast dark
Hooks ---

Black sweet blood mouthfuls,
Shadows.
Something else

Hauls me through air ---
Thighs, hair;
Flakes from my heels.

White
Godiva, I unpeel ---
Dead hands, dead stringencies.

And now I
Foam to wheat, a glitter of seas.
The child's cry

Melts in the wall.
And I
Am the arrow,

The dew that flies,
Suicidal, at one with the drive
Into the red

Eye, the cauldron of morning.
Raise up the torch and light the way.
