Hmm, two pitchers of beer.

I suppose I'm drunkish now. I might even get a hangover - it was beer after all, not vodka.

I think I acquired my tastes in reverse. I'm 25 and have just (as in within the last year) developed a taste for beer. Wine was in the middle, several years ago (although I still get very little out of whites). Vodka came first, but held the door open for several of its friends to follow presently.

And I do not think it was a case of "derp let's take shots and get smashed and only learn to appreciate flavor as we get older". I found the overall experience of drinking hard liquor to be most interesting at first; it was beer, to me, that came across as the alcohol one uses/abuses just for the sake of getting drunk. Hard liquor was for drinking while having one of those variety of social encounters / meaningful conversations that would accomplish more in the absence of sobriety, whereas beer for was for drinking when you didn't know what to do with your hands / vocal cords and had a lot of time to kill.

At least, that's what I felt when I was younger. I like it all just fine now, though I rarely drink these days.

Hm. There's probably an entire sub-forum devoted to alcohol. Or at least a thread or two in Food. *Checks* Yup - there it is, right at the top. I'll take my business there since I'm not currently eligible to remain in this thread.

I am taking this opportunity. I don't actually think I'm totally drunk because i did keep saying I gad to get up this morning but I'm certainly tipsy enought to have a hard time with the whole balancing malarkey and be rather too reliant on autocorrect, so obviously the perfect thing to do at this juncture tis post in some random internet thread. Why do I have so many extraneous T's? Pfft, goodness inky knows. I should veblay do the sleey thing before I regret it all... of course druunk me is more loquacious than normal, t makes so mich sense...

I''''''m drunk. ANd I have to see a prof tomorrow. Fucl. Why did i choose to drink? This was a bad choiiice. I can also type really well with my eytes closed. Fuck yah. I was still hungover from last night, went to bar doe lunch, then went to bar again, and then watched movies and draink, and then bar again, but this time different bar. Loud obnoixious people are really annoying. I don't care that you don't know any of the poeple here. The'=y're all nice! They'd all be willing to meet you! But yuo're just kindy douchey, even if you're quite alright when sobert. Tomorrow is supposed to be more drinking, but I think I'm going to pass. Both due to actual real life duties, and for my liver's sake. Not the wine, the oh god please stop thing. Yah. I seem to be rambling...on my wayward son :LD

Really? I don't think it differs.

I'm not really that drunk, but I've had a few Belgian beers and a few joints with friends. Glad it was walking distance. Both by themselves weren't terribly impressive, but the synergic effects are awesome. Glad I don't have to do anything tomorrow before 13:00 (10,5 hours from now), just in case.

Did you drink it straight from the bottle/can or pour it in a glass? I can see how glass on your lips vs. metal on your lips can be a difference.

Now now, metal cans are a better method of preserving beer. Bottle caps are slightly oxygen permeable, and can allow for staling, whereas metal cans are almost entirely impermeable. Granted, early canning lines, especially those used by small craft brewers had awful oxygen pickup. Luckily, most modern canning lines have overcome that problem.

Of course, there is still that image thing. I agree with you, beer in a can doesn't seem as 'right' as beer in a bottle, but I'm slowly getting over it.

And either way, it should be poured into a glass.

Apparently, I'm a didactic drunk...

Not drinking/drunk atm, but willing to answer

I drank from the can, so it's not about the lips - there's something about the taste.
Not even the image thing, it's purely a taste thing. Dunno why.
Similar with Coca-Cola (I barely like it anyway, though). When I seldom drink it, the ones from the glass bottles taste the best.
