I bet they're chosen through some complex algorithm - say, a quintic with his favourite numbers as the coefficients, because I can't think of anything else, and the comics are those which closest match the y=0 points.

A quick set of comics that sets the mood for the whole XKCD webcomic for anyone who's never seen XKCD strips before.

You know how some webcomics have story arcs, and have links directly to the beginning of arcs?

Well, xkcd has story arcs, too, they're just really hard to follow. And the comics linked are the beginnings of the various arcs.

OK I know that everyone that's been here a while knows that I am full of lies, but just for the sake of newcomers that might read this post, I am full of lies.

Or maybe you're completely right, but we're all too dumb to understand the intricacies of xkcd's arcs. Personally, I've always thought there was more to the hat-man chronicles than what's on the surface.

I do that too, but for an entirely different reason.
