Which, of course, reminds me of today's Kate Beaton.

Back on topic, Utah rocks because Jazz fans are just so cute! Thinking that their team still matters/has a chance to win a championship ever. When it's not infuriating, it's endearing.
(I know I'm being a huge hypocrite having this attitude towards Jazz fans when I, myself, am a supporter of both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Boston Red Sox, but both those teams have won a championship this decade).
I have nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion.
And some old pictures.

Chicago: Where your a freak and a pervert if you don't finish your whiskey and actually want to sleep with your wife!

We invented one brand of blues. We're named after a smelly onion. The most primo real-estate is built on the flotsom of a naval officer to defected and declared his own nation. Dr. King couldn't march here. Our river flows the wrong way. We know what LSD is used for. The original gangster made his killing here. The cops are caricatures. Our one of our two baseball teams is cursed. The goat is taxidermied in a great bar that you can only access UNDERGROUND. We've got more bike path then any city in the country. We burned down.

Yes, Chicago, the city that doesn't give two shits what you think about it.

One of my favorite things about Kennesaw is that there's a law on the books that includes a "Unless you don't feel like it" clause.

Atlanta is nearby, guaranteeing a steady supply of the aural pollution called "rap".
The Georgia Aquarium is the largest in the world. Which is great fun if you like standing in line.
I've heard something about pandas and coke and peanuts and disease, but I wasn't really listening.
But I do just love the fact that a city nicknamed HOTlanta has an ice hockey team

I also love Sweetwater Brewing Company. Mainly because they have beers named "420" and "Hummer".
Red Brick Winter Brew is also great, despite the boring name.

Of course the only real reason I live here is because the dorms have private bathrooms.

There's a couple of different estimates, most of which are higher than that. Amazingly enough, the highest estimates come from the Army Corp of Engineers, the same people that keep sending Georgia's water to Alabama and Florida.

Once the water runs out I'm pretty sure that anarchy will ensue. When that happens, I think I'll go get my rifle and seize power. I'd make an excellent leader, I know this to be true because I have lovely hair.

Oh, that reminds me. I love the state of Georgia because I hate boats.

On the topic of European countries... let's consider the Netherlands. There's quite a lot I'm not proud of, and given half a chance I'd relocate to New-Zealand immediately, but there are a few nice things to say about this wet little patch of land.

For example we've got history. That includes castles (like this one), which are real and old and not just build for some silly theme park. It includes cities, founded long before even the Vikings had visited America. It even includes monuments at least as old as the pyramids.
And that's not to mention our proficiency with water, in both keeping it outand sailing it.
And despite being one of the most densely populated countries (in the top five if you don't count island and city states), we do have nice wildlife, lots of picturesque little villages and quite a lot of places you can actually see the horizon, which is flat or nearly so anywhere, making it a great country to ride a bicycle.
Life's biggest adventures are the dreams you try to make real.

Let's!

I'm proud of our rather (socially) liberal society:
- Gay marriage (I mean... come on!)
- Not a lot of fuss about abortion (even though I'm not sure if I would ever do this, it is and should be everyone's own choice)
- Semi-legal soft drugs (not because we're all stoners, but 1) because it is silly to allow people to consume enormous amounts of alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, etc, and not weed and 2) because it works)
- More!

Like in the rest of the Western world, in the past years we have had (and still have) our share of "Omigosh TERRORISTS" and "We must preserve our superior culture by kicking foreigners out of the country!", but it has stayed in the margin somewhat and I can only hope we will collectively get over it at some point.

Oh, and I like that we are such a tiny country, but still play a role in the world, so to say (sports, intellectual/educational, etc).

I also generally dislike patriotism, so I will say no more.

Word!

Not proud to be German (though I like my country pride is not applicable obviously), but proud to be Eruopean!

In the words of Victor Hugo:

"Well, you say today - and I am one of those who say it with you - all of us here, we say to France, to England, to Prussia, to Austria, to Spain, to Italy, to Russia, we say to them, 'A day will come when your weapons will fall from your hands, a day when war will seem absurd and be as impossible between Paris and London, St. Petersburg and Berlin, Vienna and Turin, as today it would seem impossible between Rouen and Amiens, Boston and Philadelphia."

Proide in what has been achieved is justified in so far as it spurns us on towards what still lays ahead, how disastrously we still fall short.:

"A day will come when we shall see those two immense groups, the United States of America and the United States of Europe, stretching out their hands across the sea, exchanging their products, their arts, their works of genius, clearing up the globe, making deserts fruitful, ameliorating creation under the eyes of the Creator, and joining together to reap the well-being of all."

Hugo could not have conceived of the darkness that was yet to come when he spoke these words in 1850, and no more then he could then can we today foresee what darkness might yet befall our children. And that is another important positive thing about Europe: The willingness to keep our history in mind and reflect upon it.

See, I think that this, more than any dispute over paying farmers or the English Channel, is what keeps Britain as an addition, rather than a part of Europe. I am proud to be British; the values of my country make me who I am.

I doubt that every European (or even a majority) feels 'more European than <nationality>'. Though I have to agree that Britain is more 'separate' than most other countries, the rest isn't one big blob (yet, at least).

Yes, but I specifically do not feel proud of being European - It hasn't really done much for me except being a free trade and visa free zone that means I can travel to interesting city breaks easily. The European Parliament has safeguarded my liberties how? And in return I pay for them to jet from Brussels to Strasbourg every hour...

Meh, you'll get over not being an empire anymore eventually, too, don't worry.

But yeah, living in Britain it seems that most people tend to be very relucatant to see things from any perspective but "What coincrete immidiate thing has it done for me right now?!". We were praising Europe from the historical macro political and cultural perspective (and indeed there is no question that MUCH remains to be improved where concrete questions are concerned). These categories do not translate into that "but-what's-it-done-for-me-mate" mindset very well.

I am from Germany and I am proud that Germany is in Europe, because Europe has all this cool ancient history.
The second thing cool about Germany is that it is next to France, and France has the coolest historical stuff standing around, gracing the skylines.
I also love that you can buy Kebab everywhere, and Pizza, which I even prefer to glass noodles and bamboo sprouts at the moment.

What's also cool about Germany is that we don't have a dictator anymore and are no longer committing any genocidal crimes against humanity (unless you count those made-in-Germany shrapnel bombs and mines that ass-rape the Geneva Convention but are very good for 'our economy' - which is why weapon producers are prone to becoming honour citizens).
The fith cool thing about Germany and Europe as a whole is, that we are so spineless, mindlessly '...Hold on, I think I swallowed a gerbil. Okay. What was I saying?' and accepting that we - bit for bit - invite the more fundamental, racist, antisemitic and misogynous aspects of Islam into our midst. You know, 'Nothing agains Sharia law, I mean, it's culture'...

Yes, I really love living in Germany/Europe, and I am proud of everything we have to give to the world. Love, peace, room for religious fundamentalism and shrapnel bombs.
Sadly, all other countries are just as fucked up. Must be all those humans living there...

EDIT: But I'm really proud of all those thousands of years of cultural and social development that took place in Europe. All the philosophy, those great thoughts that were thought here, that still influence how humanity manages itself. My favourite epoques are Antiquity, Renaissance and Enlightenment (which freed us from religion and gave birth to human rights) and of course the Belle Epoque.

Tennessee... well. We've got Oak Ridge National Labs and a plethora of other laboratories and research facitilies, which are pretty cool for people going into the uni for science (aka, me). If you like music, particularly the country variety (ew), Nashville, the capital, is the place for you. We've also got some pretty mountains. Our main exports:

Moo!
Ekeltricity

I do believe we also grow a good deal of marijuana, but those statistics aren't reported officially since it's kind of illegal. :P

Also, I live in Tennessee, which automatically makes it more awesome than any place. Ever.

my geography teacher claimed we should be the world's number one tourist attraction. it went like this:
what do they have we don't? the great wall of china? we have the old city wall! the eifel tower? we have the tower of david! the louvre? we have the israel museum! victory gate? we have ten gates! the one thing they have over us is food. if we get good food, we'll have most of the world's tourism.

Proud to be Irish!

Our country has a tragically beautiful history, although exploring it outside the medium of online encylopedia is reccomended, I suggest this.

We're an easy going people, and having a full-blown conversation with a complete stranger at the bus stop is pretty normal.. (outside of Dublin).

I live in the oldest city in Ireland, Waterford. Yes... it is the city where all that crystal is made, and where our nations tri-colour was first flown.

The countryside is breathtaking.. simple as.

Our many contributions to the fine arts, most notable in my opinion is music.

It rains, ALL THE TIME. Boggles the tourists. (Even in Summer? ALL THE TIME.)

Nobody understands us if we talk 'normally'. (Normally for us I mean.)

The Traffic.

However, Gold Star and Skyline chili are Cincinnati foodstuffs. That belongs in the Ohio category.
