Postby d3adf001 » Wed Jan 30, 2008 2:29 am UTC

i just broke my last ipod ever this morning due to a disk head crash. I ordered a sansa e280 and was wondering what other people had.

Nothing. Nor do I have iTunes, nor do I have any cds, records, cassettes, or radio broadcasts which I enjoy.

I use an iPod because it came with my computer. If I was purchasing an mp3 player, I'd probably get something else with a bit more versatility, but I really don't care.

I've heard good things about the Zune at a comparable price, but I can't say I know the specifics.

I have a Memorex mp3 player. I'm unable to tell which model, though. It's alright, I suppose. I was a bit miffed when I figured the songs don't on there the way you ordered them on the programme you used to sync.

Do ipisses do that, too, or is just Memorex?

I have a broken iPod Video 60GB. I can't listen to music, but with Rockbox in it, I can play Breakout in the subway.
If I had to buy a new device I would totally buy an iPod Video 60GB again, put Rockbox in it and play Breakout in the subway while listening to music.

I used a DS Lite, which was awesome, but the flash cart broke and I haven't been able to afford to replace it. So I dug out a Creative Muvo N200 from my closet and used it for a while, and then it broke too. -_-; So now I use an old MP3 CD player and wonder how long before it breaks.

Kind of, the get arranged in alphabetical order. I have an iPod but I haven't used it for a while. It gets most of its use on the road and I haven't done any traveling lately.

My solution to that was to throw together a script that reads the playlist and copies the files appending incrementing 3-digit numbers to their names.

I have last generations iPod Nano and I love it. Thing saved me when my laptop started to die (8gb flash drive to the rescue) and from day to day tedium. I could survive without it though. I have walked to class with the earbuds in and forgotten to actually turn the iPod on I was so lost in thought...

Haha, I've been there. I have music on but I'm so focused on something I don't even pay attention, and then think hey, I should put some music on...

I have a cowon d2. I like it for its UMS support. Along with a ton of codecs, flac and ogg being what I care the most about.

It can also take any SDHC card to expand the available memory.

My brother had one of those (assuming you mean the m2XX series). He got a bad version 4 firmware model... which means if you don't patch the firmware it can brick itself just randomly... sometimes after a year, sometimes after a day.

Creative zen here. I've had it for about 1.5 years and it still works very well, especially considering the number of times I've dropped it. Seriously, it's like a rock. Also, I get that smug "I don't own an iPod" feeling going on. It's like being a mac user except I like me.

I have a zune and I like it.
However, a word of warning... the software that is used with the zune SUCKS. You can get around it and do basic things, but theres some things on there which Microsoft makes very difficult and frustrating.
On the bright side, I'm really happy with the zune itself with the battery life, and especially with the wireless syncing, radio, and sharing.

I have a laptop. I don't actually go places very often, and I generally don't need music to ignore the people around me. I just need the music when I'm coding or doing circuit design.

Pedantry: Prepending. You prepended the 3-digit numbers to their names so that the playlist would be sorted properly going from 000asong to 999somesong.

That aside, I own a 30GB black iPod Video and an 8GB iPhone.

The first one I had was an RCA Lyra, which was lame because the buttons degraded into pointy bits of pain, so I used the warranty and got a creative Zen V (when my parents bought the Lyra, it was 100$. by the time I returned it, it degraded to 60$. So I exchanged it for the Zen which was worth 100$). which lasted a year, and has the most kickass ear buds I've ever used. Then the screen got all lame and stuff, so I returned it (via the same system, upgrading it by 50$) and got a Sansa e250, which has been serving me well since November. I don't really like the tactile scroll wheel, because it jumps sometimes, but in a general sense it's pretty good.

Note: I've gotten to keep the lanyards from all of the mp3 players I've gotten when returning them!

A crappy off brand one I got because it was cheap and I don't need anything fancy. Just something that will play. Unfortunately this thing will quit playing every six songs or so. Just blang out.

I had the sansa 250 (or something like that) but the screen went bad on it.
I was able to trade it in at Costco and got the 80GB ipod for next to nothing extra.
Costco used to have the best return policy ever. Bring something back for what ever reason and they'll refund the entire price. Unfortunately now that doesn't apply to most electronics...

I liked the sansa. But the ipod is damn convenient.

Black iPod Video 5.5G (30 GB)

I bought it after owning a Silver Creative Zen Micro 5 GB for a good year, until I "lost" it (I left it at a friend's house, but I thought I had lost it on the street). I still loved the Micro to death, and gave it to a friend to use (who also had a Zen Micro, but it broke).

I would still go with the iPod any day, but the Micro kicked ass for portability, functionality, and durability in the mid-storage device department. I was thinking of getting the e280 that you got, but I wanted something that had more storage.

I've had quite a few iPods...

2GB Fist gen Nano - stolen from my PE locker
4GB Mini - Screen broke
2GB something gen Nano - Gave it to my friend because hers got stolen
And my [ex]girlfriend was supposed to give me her old 30GB video because she got a new 60/80GB one, but she never did.

Now I have an 8GB Creative Zen, and I'm really happy with it. Do iPods have SD card slots and a microphone? I don't think so.

I've a 2 GB Sansa, don't know the model number offhand. It's a decent player. Won't do ogg, though, and as far as I can tell there's no way to patch the firmware to make it do so, so I have to transcode large portions of my music before I can put it on there.

I have a Sumvision Platinum. Funny thing: I just realised today that the logo on the player is the word "Sumvision" with a capital sigma behind it, and after learning from my chemistry teacher yesterday that a capital sigma means "the sum of", it made me laugh (or it would do if I weren't in the school library). It's pretty cool, shiny, thin and easy to use from my pocket as well as being 4gigs. I've been complemented on it a few times =/
