How normal are you?

Postby return to sender » Fri Mar 14, 2008 1:35 am UTC

1 is uber-normal, 5 is really odd.

Of course everyone thinks they're stranger than they actually are. Or normaler. Or something.

I said three. I'm often told I'm weird, and I don't strive in the least bit to be normal, but I'm not creepy-weird.

I'll trade you 3 normals for 4 internets.

I don't think ANYONE is "normal," honestly.

I said three too, probably because it's the safe one, and i'm weird enough to care about what people think about me on the internet...

I said four. I'm strange, but not (yet) chewing on the bedposts and hunting aliens.

I said '2', because I misread the question. Realistically, about 4.

I said 3, but it's probably somewhere between 2 and 3. I do lots of normal things, but I also do a lot of stuff that people don't necessarily expect of me. I'm more towards the normal end of the scale than the freak end, though.

Wow. Looking at the distribution, for here, to be "uber-normal" is in fact weird.

Said 4. I'm actually told I'm weird by various different people at least once a week. Why? Popular reasons seem to include: Humming Haydn's "Surprise" Symphony in the hallways, suggesting that my friends kill me in a freezer so they can properly pry my essay from my cold dead fingers, laughing at F3s, making faces (I'm an older sister, what can I say?), getting coffee headaches.....

And that's just today : )

I said 3, because I alternate between 1 and 5; I took an average. Most of the time when I'm awake I'm 1, and almost without exception while I sleep I am 5.

Also, I'm not using the definition of "normal" I think you wanted me to use.

EDIT: Long-time-ninja'd by our concise friend JayDee, whose post I missed... possibly because it was so short? lo siento!

Your level of weirdness isn't something you can decide for yourself. I mean, a lot of my friends declare themselves as being weird based on the fact that they've done this or that, but the fact that you think it's weird means it's outside of your normal behaviour. In fact, most of the truly weird people I know think that they're completely normal.

I feel like I am the only normal person in the world, but most people who have known me for some time IRL tell me that if birds were normal, I'd be an anglerfish.
I clicked 4 for being mostly, but not utterly different (still breathing oxygen and flapping to move around).

I'm normal to the extent where I'm not a stalker / paedophile / psycho / supporter or member of a radical fringe political group, but I wouldn't call myself that identical to random people on the street. So I gave myself a 3. 3 probably ranks as "1 standard deviation away" from the average, perfectly normal person at 1. There's various elements to mental/social normality, so imagine most of us sitting half-way down the slope of a 3-D bell curve.

I vote 1. I have a job, I have friends, I have dreams and aspirations, I have certain mannerisms, and in my country I am part of a demographic majority. I am as normal as possible.

I am your Everyman.

I also (personally) think that those who voted towards the "less normal" end of the scale because of "random" little things they do are more normal than they realise. Everyone does stuff like that. I myself sing along to songs that I can't hear, pull faces at children while working, and am involved in a particularly vicious game of cocktag. Mannerisms don't make you weird, they make you a little different.
