Like the time traveler's wiki- go there, write about how you changed history. Then other people would change it back. That'd be pretty cool.

Start up the thread in Forum Games. Post a link to that thread here.

First new bookmark in my computer in a good long while. Completely original, absolutely entertaining, and one of the best things I've read in a good long while.

Where's Maiseken when you need him? We need his shrugging avatar to explain this one.

The explanation being something like "I dunno... Magic?"

Most people understand a nine year old thread is going to start with a broken link.

(I just now realised why the "Notifications [1]" wasn't going away, having found you'd edited me into an old message.)

It wasn't intended to be sarcastic, sorry, but the point I read my conventional reply (in "Thank you for your service") and realised it was perhaps a bit more passive-aggressive than intended, it didn't seem worthwhile rewriting without the unintended sting as by now you'd only be remembering the original and maybe/maybe not getting the wrong intonation out of it already.

Basically, your original "link is broken" was good for me, because it had brought the thread up as recently changed (with an interesting title to suck me into reading it) and then reading the thread (backwards, a time-travel experience in itself) and following the 'broken' link to see what was wrong and then the "here's the new site" link from there and then the (obvious, but maybe not as logical as it could be) new link to the "wikihistory" article gave me some pleasurable reading. With intent to read elsewhere on that domain later. For that, my thanks.

I liked it, and thought maybe (as it turned out you did) you would do too if I pointed you straight there rather than recite my own method of tracking it down and leaving you to the same prolonged, if trivial, labours as I had been through.

But that's a lot of words to explain that I didn't use the best original set of words in my original attempt at brevity and levity. Apologies for both original and current errors in composition. ;)

(Now, do I publicly send this, or copy it to private message? No, let's have this mea culpa in public, so everyone can see what an arse I think I've been. It's probably good for the soul.)

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programme....

Amazon Mechanical Turk wrote:Amazon Mechanical Turk is a marketplace for work that requires human intelligence. The Mechanical Turk service gives businesses access to a diverse, on-demand, scalable workforce and gives Workers a selection of thousands of tasks to complete whenever it's convenient.

Amazon Mechanical Turk is based on the idea that there are still many things that human beings can do much more effectively than computers, such as identifying objects in a photo or video, performing data de-duplication, transcribing audio recordings, or researching data details. Traditionally, tasks like this have been accomplished by hiring a large temporary workforce (which is time consuming, expensive, and difficult to scale) or have gone undone.

Point of order: discussion about the Amazon and Mechanical Turks should go in the South America and Eastern Europe or Middle East sections, respectively. :)

I ask questions about things that can be Googled because questions lead to some form of conversation. Googling doesn't.

Coming to a conversation more informed can still lead to conversation. Theoretically, you don't learn everything from basic googling and would have more interesting questions that could get the conversation deeper sooner. Personally, I think it'd also result in more responses.

Also, you needed a google machine because your entire post was that the link was broken. You can find your own damn new link. I will not have you arguing, that that post was somehow supposed to lead to decent conversation.

It's not his fault. Every time he does Google for the link I go back in time and change things so that he posts without searching.

That is a very good point.

No, it wasn't. It was just a notification. I'm the kind of person who checks every thread I've created and updates its OP if any information is out of date. I thought the OP would want to know the link was broken so OP could update it. I know I would.

Pro-tip.

Click the username. This should open the profile.

Scroll down if you have to, but you're looking for the Last Active field.

Now, it's not always foolproof. The board measures activity by posting, nothing more. And if a lot of recent posts are in mod areas or the person spends a lot of time in hidden mode, nothing shows up, or if they simply haven't posted in a while and just read it'll be immaculate* too.

But generally speaking, if someone hasn't posted in six months, they don't care anymore.

OP hasn't posted since 2008. Pretty sure OP doesn't give a single damn.
