I wasn't sure if this inevitable thread should be posted under the "Individual Comic" section.... since it's not, strictly speaking, a comic... but does more-or-less fall into the periodical nature of that section...

I was actually a little disappointed when I discovered I only needed to chase pointers to two more sites before completing the circuit. I was expecting something... I dunno, more xkcdish.

Ha ha, this is phenomenal. QC is one of my favorites (xkcd at the top of that list, of course).

A quick run around come up with xkcd being here: http://www.qwantz.com/

OK, so it's not a new comic, but... it's still something new. xkcd now redirects to Questionable Content- to get to xkcd, you have to go to qwantz.com. And questionablecontent.net redirects to... Dinosaur Comics. Most unfortunate, I thought there was going to be a bigger loop. Well, maybe it'll change as 4/1 progresses.

pssst, xkcd: use absolute links. http://xkcd.com/about.php does not exist. QC and dino comics seem to have it down.

Although, it might be QC's fault, and everyone just copied the homepage code. That seems most plausible. So then it's not xkcd's fault. I'm ok with that.

How does he know these things? HOW? And not only Randall, but Jeph. I'm up late, I see that it's midnight, I say "Oh what they hey, I'll see if the webcomics posted." Type in xkcd, start reading.

And I say "Darn, qc hasn't updated." Then I go to the address bar and go to type in qc, and I stop. And I do a gooooood long double take, then I bust out laughing and wake up my room mate. So now I have to explain not *only* an april fools prank, but also qc *and* xkcd.

<polite golf clap> I've bin had.

I'm going over to google now forewarned and forearmed.

[Edit: As of 12:21 EST it's all quiet on the google front. I'm really waiting for the other shoe to drop right about now. I kinda hope they declare "Earth Year"...365 days of true retro goodness. Bring out the buggies and the kerosene, tonight we're going to party like it's 1899.

Edit Edit: A friend much smarter than I pointed out the obvious fact: All of our favorite comics (and we) are on EDT. Silicon Valley is on PDT. Give it a couple hours.

FU WIKIPEDIA.

Me and my friends at Uncyclopedia were trying to get Uncyc featured on Wikipedia on April the 1st.

It would bring in more writers! :D

Wow, I completely forgot about April Fool's. After checking variations of http://www.xkcd.com, I decided to go directly to forums.xkcd.com. I was going to post an error report until I saw this thread, lol. Nice one, whoever collaborated this prank. I got f00l3d.

Is this topic for all April fools site changes? Or just xkcd?

If the former, does anyone know if Google usually updates later in the day? I was hoping to find something from there but no luck...

It's been April 1st for 6 hours here. I'm still trying to think of a few pranks to set up for my family before they wake up. Should I pee in their coffee?

Nice, I went on QC to check for update... and got the dinosaur comic. Went to the qwantz page and got xkcd... went here and got QC. I love you guys so much! Now I have to check all the other cool webcomics to see if they did this kind of thing.

This webcomic ring joke was well-done, if I do say so myself.

And thanks for pointing out the YouTube one... I was just going to different sites to see if anything was different... didn't think to click on a feature!

I like it, but I think it would have been even better if the authors had linked to some lesser-known but still seriously excellent webcomics outside of their little trio. For instance, a link to Terror Island would have been awesome, although I suppose Sinfest would have been adequate.
V for Vendetta, the movie, paraphrasing Emma Goldman wrote:A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.

Terror Island, Exit Music (google "keaner"), and Copper are all webcomics worth checking out.

Dunno if they're planning anything big, but Google actually does have something up. If you go to Gmail, at the top there's a "Gmail Custom Time" feature. It directs you to a 404 error. Since Google's jokes are usually on a larger scale than that, I'll definitely be checking back throughout the day.

EDIT: Google has uploaded their joke page for Custom Time. Go have a look-see.

Yeah, google's got it set up nicely now.

http://mail.google.com/mail/help/customtime/index.html

While on that subject, am I the only one who tried to manipulate the equation given? My first problem was finding out the average life expectancy, but I'm going with the wiki and setting it at 67. So NP = 670 + (Phi)^(1/2) = 671.272, where P is between 0 and 1.

Slashdot only has one new April 1 story in a new section called idle.slashdot.org. It's all Web-2.0-y.
