You know Carter's "sex organs" line in the pilot episode? A while ago they released a "recut" version of the pilot episode, which removes that line. I sur hope nobody watches it without watching the original, because if they do and then continue with the series, they're not going to get it when they make fun of that line in later episodes!

When I was 15, that was my favorite line in the whole episode. Seriously. :P

Suddenly I feel a tidal wave of hatred for the parental units... mostly the female one... when I recalled how the last family trip we took in 1997 to Disney World was courtesy of my first prize in a math contest... and how we skipped out on many things because "they weren't included in the package" and they kept telling me "you can come back with your own kids." FUCK YOU!! It's totally fucking NOT THE SAME as an adult bringing the kids around...

But it's better as an adult with zero kids.

From reports I've read, taking kids to Disney World (or other large theme parks) is extremely stressful as an adult. I imagine without the kids it would be more enjoyable, but adults tend to be less enchanted with all things Disney than children. As a kid I might've liked Disney World (although I never went, and I'm unconvinced); as an adult I think all the Disney fluff would get annoying - just give me the rides, please.

I HAVEN'T BEEN TO DISNEY SINCE I WAS 5! I LIVE IN FREAKING FLORIDA. THREE HOURS AWAY!!!! And I waited for years for my senior year because the senior trip was always to Disney, so of course by the time I became a senior it switched to Universal. I wanted to kill someone.

I was in the French Disneyworld. I remember a girl pushing me in a crowd so I pushed her back, and got yelled at. But then I explained that she pushed me first and they were all 'oh, alright, that makes it okay *goes back to whatever they were doing*'.

No she's not THAT bad but it really felt like they were artificially ramming it down your throat in the beginning of the first season. That wasn't the only reason I said the first season is difficult to watch. All the actors really hadn't gotten into their roles yet. This seems to be recurring problem with a lot of series (go back and watch Season 1 of TNG or Deep Space Nine). I imagine its one of the reasons why a lot of sci fi type shows get cancelled early. We should probably take a cue from the past and let the actors get into the groove with the characters and maybe you'll end up having a hit on your hands. I mean Stargate, TNG and Deep Space Nine lasted 10, 7 and 7 seasons respectively. That's pretty damn good.

Is it me, or are the Linux "ports" in the Humble Indie Bundle a little bit shit? I knew about the heavy use of wine wrappers and Mono, but that's understandable. I don't really expect them to rewrite the game from scratch if it's fundamentally unportable. What's annoying me is the mistakes in packaging. Out of the three games I've tried to play so far: one was fine, one was only available as a .deb or .rpm so I had to unpack it myself, and the other purported to be 32 bit but turned out to be 64 bit when I downloaded it.

There are people in the company who are fun to prank. She isn't one of them. She's the unsavvy type who, when confronted by the directive to not use email for discussing the company's underwater basketweaving trade secrets, took this to mean not using work email for discussing the company's underwater basketweaving trade secrets and just used her personal Yahoo email.

Cisco Packet Tracer is destroying my tiny mind. I'm trying to set up VLANs on a L2 switch which will be trunking them all to a router, the first VLAN will ping the router but the second won't and I don't understand why and all the tutorials and explanations I can find are either way too complex or just command dumps which don't explain what's happening and I've been trying to figure this out for ages and arrrghhh. *headdesk*

Speaking of network-related things, I've had an unbelievable amount of trouble getting simple SIP voice/video chat working under Linux. I want to be able to talk to my mum, who's running OpenSUSE, from my Gentoo box. I tried Linphone first. Gentoo has a slightly outdated version in Portage; OpenSUSE doesn't have it at all, so I had to compile it from scratch on my mum's PC. Couldn't get it to work. Ekiga was next. It appeared to work on Gentoo, but segfaulted immediately on OpenSUSE, so I had to downgrade it. That at least worked, but crashed when attempting to make a call. I tried some other programs that didn't work either. So I decided to pass Ekiga through gdb on the OpenSUSE box and found that the problem was a plug-in. I disabled the plugin and things started looking better, except now my webcam would just stop working the moment I established a connection in Ekiga, so I had to downgrade my version as well. At the moment, everything is fine if my mum calls me, but when I try to call her, nothing happens. I suspect it's a firewall problem on her end.

So yeah, it's taken several days and it still isn't working 100%. Graah.

Ugh, my "friend" keeps complaining about how we do nothing together but he doesn't actually try to do anything. He just told me, "Hey, I'm gonna be on vacation for this week, so you should call me and plan something." No. I am not off that week. I'm not halting my entire life to massage your ego. Also, you're a tool. If you really care, put forth some effort instead of expecting me to do everything to make you feel good.

Ugh, I know what you mean. A friend of mine I used to hang out with a lot suddenly didn't want to do anything for 6 weeks straight (including my birthday party), minimal contact, when I pressed her no explanation. Then suddenly she asks me if I want to do something, but I already had plans for every remaining night that week. She then accused me of never having time for her (?), so then I told her the whole friendship is a two way street and it isn't considered polite to ignore me all of a sudden for 6 weeks.
Now she's scared or something and 'accidentally' sends me texts that weren't meant for me
